@MINTARKA101 - yeh I've found a way around my layout as I am extending my baseboard, meaning I have one steep gradient going one way and then to meet it at the same level I can have an extremely gradual incline. Hi do you know what the most powerful steam and diesel loco's are because I am getting five 12-wheel Pullman coaches but my layout has a steep gradient on it so it'll need some power but will also look good with the coaches. Thanks, ieuan
Congrats on the new coaches! :-) I hope grade is not too steep - 1in16 to 1in21 is recommended max. I have found that any modern Hornby, Heljan and Bachmann diesel locos have great hauling power. With steam, my current Hornby King is good, so are older Hornby models with magnadhesion. I don't own any of the other manufacturer's steam offerings (I wish!), so someone else may be able to advise you. A good trick to increase hauling power/traction, is to add weights inside loco - if there's space.
I know i could ask anyone but with the hornby pullman coaches, can you control when you turn the lights on and off or do they automatically turn on when you put them on the track
I like the layout mate! Now a Class 40 in BR Blue with a Rake of Blue/Grey MkI's or MkII's would look the part on that layout as it seems to be based on the mid 1980's judging by the rolling stock and the HST in the background.
@EWS60008 Thanks very much for the nice comment. Spot on with the mid 1980's time setting. I agree - a "Whistler" with a blue/grey rake would fit in nicely. I'm on the lookout for one but I keep buying more 50s, 47s and 37s instead! One day I'll tear myself away and get a 40 for a change. Long overdue!
