Traded NGS2 back in for NG2. I hate to say the gore made me go back, but it just felt so good. its weird seeing limbs coming off with no blood. Its not like I'm a gore fan, but there's a weird disconnect when you see that on NGS2 and it doesn't feel right. Maybe because they took something away that everyone grew accustomed to in NG2.
If NG2 was made without limbs and excessive gore coming off in the first place, this wouldn't be such an issue for me.
I love how people say the 360 version is superior, In actuality the 360version is actually an incomplete game! But everyone has their own opinion, but I own every NG game that has come out since the original XBOX and it's sad that NGSigma 1 is better than Ninja Gaiden 2
well, I only have a PS3 and I gotta say.... those magical glowing wounds when oyu cut off limbs is soooo TERRIBLE, later enemies got something similar looking at their legs to float, if you cut off their arms then they are just glowing all over, it's unbearable really...
As simple as one can put in is that if you want to enjoy realistic graphics with advanced lighting effects of Blu-Ray , choose Sigma 2 ...... If youre a hardcore player and wish to enjoy fighting and chopping enemies , choose NG2 . But overall PS3 's graphics are more realistic in terms of environment , X360 is more into character than environment , as well as the gameplay
Sigma 2 looks a little better cause of the 1 more year in development and it also has some new stuf in it but the no gore but purple shit thing is a HUGE turn of it also doesnt have any puzles(like finding the key to open doors etc.) And when it comes to progresing to another level of the stage the doors and paths apear/open by themelves
man what fucking stupid piece of shit decided to cut out the gore??? i mean WTF!!! that was half the fun and made the game more visually pleasing. it was a colorful splatterfest and they turned it into nothing but boring cartoon slash marks and slicing sounds. ngs2 took the killing from ng2 and made it boring. now the kills look so bland. fml i wanted this game so bad too -.-

I have played both the original is far better yes sigma is visually exceding the original due to the 1 more extra year in development it was given but it really sucks that doors magicaly open in front of you instead of kicking them like the original it sucks that when u use fire nimpo they die instantly not burning and die in a few secs and it sucks that when u cut down enemies there is no gore and body remains intact also this video is pure quality the game looks much better in my HDTV wit HDMI
I have both systems and both games. Yeah NGS2 is superior overall wtih its graphics and extra content, but I'm sorry. If you've ever experienced the game in its raw uncensored form, the gore really does carry the game a very long way. Gotta say I still like my original NG2 more than NGS2. Sigma 2 just feels softcore in comparison, plus NGS2 seems way easier.
I guess people don't take into account that, first of all this game was created thanks to a loophole in Microsoft's contract, and that they had to create a different engine for PS3
We used to have some good exclusives: Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden, Mass Effect, Dead Rising. And they all went multiplatform. NG2 was released first. PS3 had the chance to create a much better version of the game by correcting bugs, working on the graphics, basically correcting every mistake NG2 had to create a perfect version of the game. And of course they failed ;)
why does everyone keep saying that the blood being taken out ruined the game? honestly it plays the same either way. and i disagree with your comment about the purple mist blocking the camera, there's alot less mist than there was blood in the 360 version, which was extremely UNrealistic because a single person would spill SO MUCH, and THAT would get in the camera during combos. just my opinion anyways..
not shown here, but to make some improvements to the game, had to reduce a lot of things, decrease the amount of enemies on screen, down by some details on the screen because the ps3 could not stand the game run well with many things that the xbox360 had, with these changes in the game, the game has become lighter, they could even slightly increase the resolution of the game from the game.
NGS 2 has nice graphical improvements from the looks of things and better lighting. But one thing it is missing, the brutality of Ninja Gaiden 2, where is the blood? on the right side of the vid I can see lotsa blood spilled on the ground from tearing limbs, While NGS 2 has less blood and the limbs disappear when you tear them.. That is kind of a disappointment there. Other than that they are both great
Between the two, it's no contest, graphically Sigma 2 eclipses the original, textures are much more clean and polished, and things look more natural. However, the 360 has the benefit of the more intense combat overall. I own both, and hadn't played Sigma 2 in a while, but had to get the original since it was 20 and came with all the DLC, also wanted to see the differences with my own two eyes. Both are great games though, you can't beat 'em.

ng2 uses a different engine than ngs2. while playing through sigma i noticed a lot of graphical changes to certain things. Blood for example was taken out to boost environments, certain things people may not notice like Elizabet's attacks seem like she's throwing paper at you. ng2 has a perfect balance of everything. When i first played sigma i knew something was wrong with it. It's still a great game! The character designs are AMAZING but i like ng2 better.
The ps3 version is just so vivid. I wish I had a ps3, but its just so expensive. I have an xbox360 and the only good thing about it is that its cheaper than a ps3.

There may be fewer enemies on screen at a time, but that was done to reduce glitches, lag and other in-game fuck-ups (enemy health was raised to make up for it)

@ExampleZXV ok to compare resolutions, look at the platinum hits version, it has 720p now as well. Plus, you can't compare GOW3 and NG2 because they are different types of hack and slash. Dante's Inferno is the GOW3 counterpart. Now another thing to go along side the more enemies bit, can you go through the beginning of the game with all the weapons and upgrades that you aquired on the first playthrough on NGS2 for PS3? answer that one for me, please.
@pwner360 Actually you can, in chapter challenge, you can replay any level you choose with all your acquired weapons from the first playthrough. Plus you can use any costumes you may have unlocked or purchased.

this game was one of the reasons i switched to xbox. why take out blood and add pink/purple mist? and the blade doesnt cut enemies in half anymore wtf? and i hate way the upgraded weapons look, all gay with gay frills and faggy, why cant i keep them looking like ninja weapons? esp. the falcons talons, lunar staff, and kusari-gama all look gay when upgraded. at level 1 they look best. plus i hate the dragon sword glowing, this is a ninja...not star wars. and a CANNON instead of shuriken? really?
The mist really isn't such a big issue.. It's not an issue at all, the developers just went for a different style on NGS2. The game is badass none the less.
@chemicalending hahaha the xbox360 can and has cutting edge visuals and its processor is faster at a chapter there is a big staircase the ps3 has 4 to 5 enemies on screenn t a total of 75 and the 370 10 to 20 to a total of 200 in just one pert of a chapter although it lags it can still handle it better than ps3
I think another really important detail besides gore and graphics is the amount of enemies that attack you. Xbox 360 has way more which makes it very exciting and gives the feeling that you;re fighting a bigger more powerful army than in ps3.
Spoler: One very influential moment is when these spider monsters keep coming one by one on 360 while on sigma u only get one. Very dissapointing considering i love to kick butt.
Add the whole brutal and violent ninja setting of the game means that replacement of blood for purple fairy dust was a very poor choice by the devs (youve still got head, arm and leg decapitations you morons, a bit of blood aint gonna hurt!). The fact NGS1 still kept most of the blood and that most of us had played NG2 before NGS2 makes the matter even worse!
Im very much a PS3 man as its easily my fav console however I have no desire to sell my NG2 for my 360 and buy NGS2 for my PS3. Yes the PS3 version looks far better and has loads of extra content but the lack of blood really does hamper the experience. @hahawzz the graphics are equal, except the fact that the ps3 version has higher resolutions and more colorful shaders and lightning and its really hard to decide if i should get it for xbox 360 or wait till i get my ps3 and buy this game, and the only reason not to buy the ps3 version, that i can think of, is the removal of gore which makes ninja gaiden 2 lose its feeling it had back in the day with ninja gaiden black i hope they patch it, but it seems most unlikely

just whach the power bar on each side and you will see the 360 version kicks your ass more.during a fight after taking damage in the ps3 version your regneration rate is based off of your consecutive hit combo, while the 360 version is based off of the red bar under the blue bar in the life metter pretty much means don't get hit.consecutive combos in the 360 version increase the amount of essence you get thats it.That makes the game harder not to mention the ai is more dangerous in 360.
i beg to differ. my friend beat them both, and he says that yes master ninja is easier in NGS2, but its still much harder than mentor on NG2. he had more trouble on some of the chapters because of the (semi) new purple enemies and their crystal forms (the ones that can be decapitated and still fight)
Why didn't they add the Momoji and Ayane to the 360 version. Once again they have messed up. Sigma 2 isn't that great without the graphics. They should combine both of the games and put on both consoles.

So this is what i noticed. Lightings, color and definition are better on ps3. While on Xbox the gore and ignition of the bodies after death are way better.
I'm really disappointed on the removing gore idea. But to lighten the burden, i just think of the purple fog as a demonic presence coming out and whatever.
I strongly recommend a patch than can turn the fog to red. Anyone that agrees should make Team Ninja know !

when installed on the harddrive gta4 on xbox360 loads in 3 pictures..4 without install, ps3 does at least 7 pictures..much much longer on ps3..its due to the 2 speed blu ray drive..
well in my opnion SIGMA 2 is well made. i say the purple mist is good & bad. i like the it lets me know i can do an obliteration technique or if i took off limbs. NG2 was pretty messy at time but i AGREE the blood should be optional sometimes i like seeing it but im fine with NGS2 because its 4 most ppl
NGS2 looks better but the story mode and bosses in the original are more challening imo. Like that metal worm boss, u have inifinite arrows on NGS2 and can just spam away until its dead, in the original u have to be precise with ur aiming and didge at the same time. Both are good though.

I prefer NGS2 over NG2 since I love the storyline with the extra content added and slightly better graphics than NG2. I hope NG3 will come out soon.

ng2 uses a different engine than ngs2. while playing through sigma i noticed a lot of graphical changes to certain things. Blood for example was taken out to boost environments, certain things people may not notice like Elizabet's attacks seem like she's throwing paper at you. ng2 has a perfect balance of everything. When i first played sigma i knew something was wrong with it. It's still a great game! The character designs are AMAZING but i like ng2 better.

@18ac81, the Scythe is still in as well as the Enma Fang the hammer you're talking about.
missions online, you can go solo with a CPU partner whoever you like to be your partner, but they suck so in harder missions, they will die fast.
you will need some awesome NGS2 player to help you beat the Master and Ultimate Ninja missions.
i haven't played both of these games for almost a year now, but i still remember all of it.
add a guy PSN: AOTP, he's a beast in this game and a friend of mine.

There may be fewer enemies on screen at a time, but that was done to reduce glitches, lag and other in-game fuck-ups (enemy health was raised to make up for it)
And a game about ninjas with super-powers isn't realistic to begin with, and no amount of violence will ever change that

@ExampleZXV ok to compare resolutions, look at the platinum hits version, it has 720p now as well. Plus, you can't compare GOW3 and NG2 because they are different types of hack and slash. Dante's Inferno is the GOW3 counterpart. Now another thing to go along side the more enemies bit, can you go through the beginning of the game with all the weapons and upgrades that you aquired on the first playthrough on NGS2 for PS3? answer that one for me, please.

@pwner360 Actually you can, in chapter challenge, you can replay any level you choose with all your acquired weapons from the first playthrough. Plus you can use any costumes you may have unlocked or purchased.
Well no shit they are different types of hack and slash, but they are both extremely gory, and I compared the two because everyone (by which I mean the 360 fanboys) is comparing NG2's amount of violence to NGS2's, instead of comparing the actual games themselves (gameplay, graphics etc).

this game was one of the reasons i switched to xbox. why take out blood and add pink/purple mist? and the blade doesnt cut enemies in half anymore wtf? and i hate way the upgraded weapons look, all gay with gay frills and faggy, why cant i keep them looking like ninja weapons? esp. the falcons talons, lunar staff, and kusari-gama all look gay when upgraded. at level 1 they look best. plus i hate the dragon sword glowing, this is a ninja...not star wars. and a CANNON instead of shuriken? really?

@chemicalending hahaha the xbox360 can and has cutting edge visuals and its processor is faster at a chapter there is a big staircase the ps3 has 4 to 5 enemies on screenn t a total of 75 and the 370 10 to 20 to a total of 200 in just one pert of a chapter although it lags it can still handle it better than ps3

I think another really important detail besides gore and graphics is the amount of enemies that attack you. Xbox 360 has way more which makes it very exciting and gives the feeling that you;re fighting a bigger more powerful army than in ps3.
Spoler: One very influential moment is when these spider monsters keep coming one by one on 360 while on sigma u only get one. Very dissapointing considering i love to kick butt.

Add the whole brutal and violent ninja setting of the game means that replacement of blood for purple fairy dust was a very poor choice by the devs (youve still got head, arm and leg decapitations you morons, a bit of blood aint gonna hurt!). The fact NGS1 still kept most of the blood and that most of us had played NG2 before NGS2 makes the matter even worse!

Im very much a PS3 man as its easily my fav console however I have no desire to sell my NG2 for my 360 and buy NGS2 for my PS3. Yes the PS3 version looks far better and has loads of extra content but the lack of blood really does hamper the experience. Im no sicko that gets giddy over any sight of blood but a game of this genre needs blood. Cont next comment...

@hahawzz the graphics are equal, except the fact that the ps3 version has higher resolutions and more colorful shaders and lightning and its really hard to decide if i should get it for xbox 360 or wait till i get my ps3 and buy this game, and the only reason not to buy the ps3 version, that i can think of, is the removal of gore which makes ninja gaiden 2 lose its feeling it had back in the day with ninja gaiden black i hope they patch it, but it seems most unlikely

just whach the power bar on each side and you will see the 360 version kicks your ass more.during a fight after taking damage in the ps3 version your regneration rate is based off of your consecutive hit combo, while the 360 version is based off of the red bar under the blue bar in the life metter pretty much means don't get hit.consecutive combos in the 360 version increase the amount of essence you get thats it.That makes the game harder not to mention the ai is more dangerous in 360.

i beg to differ. my friend beat them both, and he says that yes master ninja is easier in NGS2, but its still much harder than mentor on NG2. he had more trouble on some of the chapters because of the (semi) new purple enemies and their crystal forms (the ones that can be decapitated and still fight)

So this is what i noticed. Lightings, color and definition are better on ps3. While on Xbox the gore and ignition of the bodies after death are way better.
I'm really disappointed on the removing gore idea. But to lighten the burden, i just think of the purple fog as a demonic presence coming out and whatever.
I strongly recommend a patch than can turn the fog to red. Anyone that agrees should make Team Ninja know !

There is something I don't really understand about the developer's choice on the violence. I don't complain about the lack of blood, but it still makes me think "Why would they take out blood if they kept dismemberment? You can still cut a guy's body in half, or cut their limb and head off..."
Anyway, I like both versions, but since I just own a PS3, I can only play that game (unless I go to my friend's house).

yeah i saw the comparison on eurogamer,they were able to measure fps etc..
when installed on the harddrive gta4 on xbox360 loads in 3 pictures..4 without install, ps3 does at least 7 pictures..much much longer on ps3..its due to the 2 speed blu ray drive..

well in my opnion SIGMA 2 is well made. i say the purple mist is good & bad. i like the it lets me know i can do an obliteration technique or if i took off limbs. NG2 was pretty messy at time but i AGREE the blood should be optional sometimes i like seeing it but im fine with NGS2 because its 4 most ppl

NGS2 looks better but the story mode and bosses in the original are more challening imo. Like that metal worm boss, u have inifinite arrows on NGS2 and can just spam away until its dead, in the original u have to be precise with ur aiming and didge at the same time. Both are good though.
