@rickets60 these two fighters were great.but...Bartley was the best BKF plus he was an honorable man .no steroids... just a real man.i revere him very much.RIP .
Read the book and memories flooded back to the times Bartley visited his old pals and extended familly in North Wales, and the methodical manner in which he went about becoming champion and the importance of things some see as trivial like the Fighting stance photo sessions , Great man Blessed with Heart and Brains.. RIP Bartley and Sam Gorman
Good documentary style film very interesting insight. I will be acting in a film called the rough diamond about bare knuckle world champion paddy monaghan soon.
I understand where your coming from as I have the book and it is the same as Shane meadows interview. But all I'm saying is that both interviews would be the same because that's what happened. When been interviewed for books about your life you tell them the most interesting bits so it doesn't matter if 2 or 22 people interviewed him it would be exactly the same tale because it's the truth so he's not gonna change the tale. That's all I'm putting across. No malice
I still know that im right about this bloody argument ! Iagree with you in as much that if you are telling your life story to different people you are obvioulsy going to tell these different people all the same stories etc.. what im trying to get you to understand is that the words in the book and the words on the documentary arent just the same, they're even in the same order for gods sake!! Word for word, pause for pause, they are literally a carbon copy of each other...
Alright MsKylejames, alright. So in Julian Davies book there is indeed a photo of him with Bartley... But im telling you now he DID NOT INTERVIEW HIM !! find the shane meadows documentary on here and then read his section in the book. Bear in mind that Shane Meadows interviewed and filmed Bartley at least 10 years before Julian Davies brought his pathetic book out... the words in the book are copied straight from the documentary ! i should know, ive watched it hundreds of times....
Dont know what books you've been reading 'hardcorecentauri' but Bartley Gorman certainly does not appear in ANY of Kate Krays books. I know beause ive got them all. Apart from his own autobiography, the only other book he appears in is 'Street Fighters', written by Julian Davies... even that book is a joke, if you read the section about Bartley its taken word for word from the Shane Meadows documentary which he did for channel 4 years and years ago. Julian Davies never even interviewed Bartley.
Ray Robinson is my Boxing idle and it gripes me to not see films of him at his absolute peak (Welterweight) as it does this man, i would love to see film of this man fighting, possibly none about???
jerry, ive just read your uncles book which was a great read, & also have read jimmy stockins book, did their paths ever cross as neither was mentioned in either of the books but alot of the same people were mentioned in both books?
4 man tournament. Bartley Gorman vs Lenny Mclean the winner fights the winner of Charles Bronson vs Malcolm Price.
