i'm a teenager. i've lived most of my life involved with technology and the shit of today. well, no more! i've dedicated the rest of my life to liking good comedy and music, because it's not fun being part of the "cool" people. it's a misnomer, really. the 'old' stuff is much better. and who cares if it's old? classics are timeless. i like the pythons, i like the beatles...i like loads of 'old' things.
but i'm not a special snowflake or anything. that's just my tastes.
i'm just a fetus and i like old things too...old things like the beatles and doors and monty python...you could say i'm an old things snob 'cause i know so much about these old things that no one else has even heard about yet....did i mention that i'm still a fetus?
@JakeJohnRogers No its people saying its annoying to hear that younger people like the same things as older people that annoys me : ) but I suppose its a happy way to receive attention
@JakeJohnRogers Well yes and no. I just think kids get sick of people thinking that the are all the same. Kids get so much stick with everything they do. Not all of them are the same. Thats why i think they say it :)
@missHelenaLestrange Yea they might say it to seem different but it is often said in an elitist way like "All my friends are stupid because they don't like old comedy like I do!" Just because something is old doesn't make it good.
@JNeverMindMe That was a rare moment of realism for Python. That sketch was actually recorded in the studio during the Great BBC Television Centre Flash-Flood of 1973, thought to be caused by a swimming pool leak during the filming of the pilot episode of We Are The Champions.
John Cleese was giving that announcement just as the floodwaters had subsided, thanks to a hasty barrier of gravel and sand erected by a quick-thinking Ron Pickering.
@gilli39 so your brother's one of those people. I mean seriously how in god's name could you like the Jonas Brother's but not like Monty Python. I love monty python, it's probably the funniest TV show of all time.
@kassarin The idea is that the women would put on a play about an historical event (the first heart transplant operation) but instead of acting seriously, they hit each other with their handbags and roll around in the surf.
@timmydarkotbh im 13 and this (monty python) is better than most of the crap on tv today!!!!!! im a beatles fan as well, and i liked the rutles spoof thing X3
Gee they do some work on their names for things............."The batley townwomens guild"..........it gives the whole thing extra credability for something that is really very silly.
In fairness I agree with you. This isn't the worst but certainly nowhere near the best. Some monty python sketches just leave me scratching my head and wondering why is that funny...
ok that was funny, but I'm beginning to think that the Monty Python cast is enjoying wearing dresses just a little too much. Secret drag queens perhaps. I'm one of the few women I know who think Python is hilarious. For some reason most women just don't get it.
It's the good old Shakespearean actor's tradition of having young men play the women.
British actor's have been doing this since time imemorial. Check out "A little bit of Fry and Laurie" - there they also dress up for similar reasons and it's just hilarious (slightly different kind of humour though)
It's partially out of necessity, since the entire group is men (with the exception of the occasional appearance of Connie Booth), and partially because it's hilarious seeing their sorry ass attempts to look like women.
Don't give thecordholder thumbs down for this. He is right. You guys see yourselves, or me, and think OH WELL BUT WE KNOW THEM, but then ask some kids on the street about it, and while they mug you, they tell you that they never heard of Monty Python.
Kid, I was raised on Monty Python, The Vicar of Dibley, Coupling, Keeping up Appearances, Hugh Laurie *before he was House*, the lot of them. I am now twenty and still loving it to this day.
In 1970 mrs. Premise from Batley, UK, fell in the mud and got stuck while re-enacting the battle of pearl harbour. That night she managed to crawl out of the mud, but chartered accounts had confiscated her house, and now that you've read this, chartered accountants will take possession of you, your mother, your pet and any significant others unless you post this to 5 videos and talk in a screechin voice for 35 minutes
The joke is that the "reenactment of the Battle of Pearl Harbor" was nothing but women hitting each other with purses. Then when Eric says they're going to do something "different" (the first heart transplant), they do the exact same thing.
(to hosreh)........Theyre taking the piss out of modern art.............both re-enactments were exactly the same.........and completely abstract. Yet some gullible art snobs pay millions for stuff like this.
