In the Spanish language we used to put a lot of apostrophes a long time ago. We even remember the meaning of these happy flying-commas nowadays: they were one of those remains the Roman Empire left us after the fall. Then, all kinds of European languages started to be less complicated and more flexible, to be less apostrophised. For many reasons apostrophes are predestined to disappear in English.
I just want to congratulate and support E. L. S. Thatcher's way of writing. Lets copy her!
