peerless monarch is a beauty. It looks alot like and L-5 to me except the headstock it rather large. Could someone who has one comment on this guitar. This guitar has a single pickup which is not so unusual, but just a single volume knob,no tone control. Is this an issue? Peerless makes a 16" model that has a tone control. I want a jazz box but need input before I throw down 1600$ on one.
The sound reminds me of a guitar I had many years ago; a modified ES-120 Gibson with floating mini-humbucker (removed plastic guard and original pickup). I played it for many years and enjoyed the smooth jazz sound, just like this Peerless Monarch. This is my next guitar!
Matt has a very nice tone. I;m sure the Peerless doesn't hurt at all. But I'll bet Matt would sound good on a 1954 Silvertone if it was set up correctly.
It is Matt who makes it sound good, not always the tools but the talent! Peerless are worthy of any guitarist. Sounds fab but guess you already know that! : D
Currently taking your improv courses, your sound in Jazz Standards, smooth Jazz is the feeling im looking for. which guitar do you think goes great with these the Monarch or the reinanssaince. which do recommend?
thanks for playing and posting! I'm looking for a decent hollow body that might even be worth something in a few year . . . could it be this guitar? Sounds very very nice indeed. . . .looks good too.
momominnosh, I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago & wasn't disappointed. I'm not a great guitarist (better on the sax) but it makes even me sound good. Get one if you can, well worth price.
Nice playing as always Matt. I am looking at the Monarch on ebay but wondered which type of pick-up style you have on your Monarch. The fixed or the floating. I like to play chord solos and just doodling around but I don't really know much about pickups, which is better for this or that. Thanks.
Lovely playing. I'd really like to play a Peerless but alas they're aimed mainly at the UK and European markets. The big guitar companies used to buy instruments from this Korean firm and sell them under their own brands. The (rather strange) Peerless website makes any blues/jazz guitarist drool. Strong influence of the wonderful old Guild models, perhaps?
What a lovely combination, you are an inspiration. I can buy the Guitar but will I acquire your wonderful style and that great tone. Here goes........
really cheap - £639 - im going to check this out... sell my gibson 335 , maybe get this and a telecaster and still have £700 to spend on lessons and life ... thoughts people?
ye it says no amp but if you were paying attention you would have also read that it was recorded straight to the mixing board. and you are hearing that recording
Hey Matt that sounds and looks really nice. Seems like a very nice guitar. You know that's the first I noticed a Jazz guitar with one pickup..silly me. Outstanding playing bro ;)
love that sound..what amp is used?cheers

Peerless = same quality, less money!
