I loved John Lennon.s version of this. But I really like this one better. There is something about H Smiths voice that gives me a sad feeling. The words are lovely. I play this a lot.
I was betrayed by a KNOW ALL friend who told me that this Great Man had passed away in the 60s. Mr. Smith, thank you for this great song. Because of it YOU will NOT die. People will wake up and see what is happening to OUR World. Catch up with you in another place.
Ref Stan Pomeray's comment about X Factor; I often wonder the same. What would Simon Cowell have made of the likes of Bowie, Elvis Costello, Kate Bush (Just as examles) and a few more besides. No doubt he would have ripped them to shreds and deprived us of some of the top stars.
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS FROM 1971(VERY MEANINGFUL AND MOVING LYRICS) WAS SORRY TO SEE HED PASSED AWAY. I DONT KNOW IF MANY PEOPLE KNEW THAT HE WAS A SOUND ENGINEER WHO WORKED ON A NUMBER OF THE BEATLES ALBUMS (AT ABBEY ROAD I ASSUME) WHOSE REAL NAME WAS NORMAN
Norman Smith was the sort of person who, if he had appeared on "The X Factor" would have been told by Simon Cowell "You're awful, you can't sing". And that is, of course, the main reason why shows like The X Factor are such a bunch of crap. After all, what does "can't sing" mean?
@StanPomeray Cowell is a twat! Jeez. using his judgement most of the greats would never have been made. Says more about Cowell than about music and why "Pop" music is so ruddy awful now, just ask my kids!
Grew up listening to this song, the lyrics continue to be so relevant, maybe one day people will stop listening and do something to stop all the madness.
Thanks for taking the time to put your video to this lovely song. The video complements the lyrics perfectly. It has been a favourite of mine for blah blah blah years now after hearing it as a young kid.
This song is actually a most beautiful and touching appeal to preserve the "companions" God placed on Earth so Man would not feel so lonely as our blue and white home in space treks through the eternal cosmos.
A traducao em portugues nao e perfeita mas da para entender o que Hurricane Smith canta..
