@chinchenping the waiting list is about one year local pick up (this is a must) but a trip worth as the hang will come to you and not the other way round ...

the price is 2000 swiss francs.. at the moment it's about 2000US $ according to the change rate...try the info@hang.ch...it should actually work....when i picked up mine i met spanish paople ane othe guys from other countries were there... go for it it's a trip...a good one!

@ojibwa2030 This is a hang drum, only a few hundred are made each year because they are only made by two people. They are similar to zen tambour, the only difference would really be the quality and the way they are made.

This is just a variation of the steel drum. It has notes just like a steel drum but the shape is different, giving it a more diffused sound. Even though the creators of this promote it as a "Hang", I'm afraid it's similarities to a drum most people would consider it just that, which is why some people may prefer to call it a "Hang Drum".

Any instrument w/o strings struck w/the hands, fingers, sticks or mallets is a fucking drum. He even pounds them w/his fist for the kick drum sound and has them mounted on SNARE DRUM STANDS! Not unlike Caribbean steel drums. It is simply tuned steel played like another percussion instrument called the piano.

@Bashanvibe - What nonsense are you saying? The piano part of the drum family? The piano is both a percussion and a string instrument, but calling it a drum is crazy. Also, the hang is not chromatic, it's pentatonic. But yeah, it's quite similar to a steel "drum", which so happen to have the same fate as this instrument, since steel drum is a colloquial name for the steel pan, which isn't a drum either... So what I'll recognize is that it's a lost battle to stop people form calling this a drum.

@RombusEvilBones I am not an expert, but it is pretty sure that usually drummers tune their drum to exact notes! I think that It is not too low, it is just not "said" as a note. And also you can hear the actual notes! And also I think that the title has nothing to do with tha question we are talking about:):)::) It is the title of the song and for me it means that is more than a drum:):):):):):)But it is just an opinion. I am interested in what would say the musician:)

@Taylorrhp - There are some small companies making Hang-like instruments. The ones I think have the most similar sound are the Halos from Pantheonsteel. Those are still not as good as the original, but these makers are getting the "hang" of it XD. Anyway, just google it if interested, but be warned, they chose their clients by lottery from the e-mail requests they get... Probably the most fruitful way would indeed be to search ebay for a Hang.

I do believe the sound of an instrument has nothing to do with the classification of the instrument. I can set my electronic piano to sound like a guitar, so is it still a piano, or is it a guitar now? The Hang is played in a way similar to a drum, so therefore it's called a drum (although PANArt discourages it being called a drum, my argument still stands)
