  • excellent playing though 2 smooth

  • I noticed you're a half-step sharp. Is that the recording or was it intentional?

  • @Mordecai2013 Press "show more" and read.

  • Well played mate

  • what guitar is that?

  • 2 of my fav bands of all time. I've covered many of both of these bands songs on my youtube channel if you wanna see :) great job

  • i just saw your video on bloodmeat the keyboard thing (btw if that was you in the vid u look exactly like my buddy cam its unreal), checked out ur page and there was this video my favorite solo in the entire world front page, i instantly subscribed. bravo man! i hope to conquer that solo sometime in my life as well. good job.

  • Probably one of the better videos of people doing this.

  • ok so ur playing btbam while wearing a opeth shirt?pure awsomeness

  • @tedoweedopp that's how i role

  • @Mewisonfire roll

  • you said i could ask for your pod, so can i have it? pm me so u know where to ship it lol

  • Nice!! Loved the tone.

  • I've never played a PRS, but I think the tone comes mostly from the guitar, and some what the strings, the distortion would too, but deff more of the guitar I'd say

  • hey, nice cover real clean is it possible to get the toneoff you? i'll subscribe :) btw nice music taste

  • Dude great cover. Like your shirt btw. Opeth and BTBAM are both amazing.

  • you shreed relly good ! you're amazing fast ! 5 stars !

  • hahah I love how complex and amazing the guitar is,,, then listen to the bass line, awesome job dude!

  • hey great cover.

I was wondering if I could get this patch

I just bought a pod=] and am very new to using it . any tips would be very appreciated

  • that was pretty :)

  • Where do you get that from? He seems pretty comfortable to me. Doesn't seem stressed at all.

  • well done man, shame to hear you got RSI. which hand is it? or both. hopefully you return to playing someday.

  • Cheers dude! It's my right hand where the strain is, but the main problem is with my back, I have hyper-mobile joints I get a lot of back ache which is made worse by bending over the guitar...i'd like to get a telecaster or something to play around on sometimes though.

  • Excellent song, excellent playing, and excellent shirt. You rock! 5 stars.

  • Cheers man, and nice name! Blackwater Park is one of my all time favs.

  • dude what did u use to learn ur sweep technique besides lots of practice? im learnin sweeps right now and its killin me!!!

  • haha, it killed me too dude, my sweeps never got good...the delay etc. hide a lot of errors here to be honest!

Just practice slow until you've nailed that speed cleanly and comfortably and then bump it up a notch and repeat...i know that's what everyone says but it's the best way.

  • nice job man!

  • FUCK YEAH! OPETH!

interesting technique, seems to work out for you very well.

  • Left hand or right? haha maybe not too well as i've got repetitive strain injury now! lol

  • man seriously this is the best cover i've seen..you moved your hands in the finger board so fucking naturally, good work man, i mean it

  • Thanks man!

  • Opeth <33

  • You should play guitar again

    Lol

  • lol i wish i could.

  • So Did you leave it because you don't have time for it ?

    Or is it personal?

    hahahahah

  • nah i have a few health problems that have stopped me playing, maybe i'll be able to play again later in life though!

  • That sucks man

    Hope you get better

  • I wish my sweeps sucked like that

  • lol, seriously it's just caped in reverb and delay

  • This is really great!

  • in regards to the sweep solo tab, i have it, the way paul waggoner playts it

  • awesome man

  • nice shirt

    and sweeps

  • can u play any of their old stuf???

  • amazing cover- and do u happen to listen to btbam's old stuff like their self titled album

  • I do indeed, although I do prefer Alaska and Colors.

  • ur pretty rich man

  • Nah i'm not, i'm a student xD

  • haha you have really really nice guitars

  • Impressive

    And an Opeth shirt

    That's even cooler

  • Jesus, this is awesome. I need to get this one down

  • This is great, mate :) really good. working on the intro to alaska atm, and man, this is going to take a while...

  • Yo, cheers dude. There's something tricky about the Akaska intro, i found it a challenge as well! good luck :)

  • The best cover I've seen at all hands-down! 5 Stars, Favorites!

  • Thanks a lot mate!

  • niceeee

  • Very nice!

  • nice vid man. it's so frustrating to see though--i can alternate pick as fast as the next guy but i can't learn to sweep for anything.

  • Keep at it buddy, it'll come with time and practice!

  • ok. thanks

  • good job

  • Do you mind telling me what to set your amp to to make this more of a synthesizer sound? Do you use more gain or pedal effect or what?

  • I don't really know what you mean by synth sorry matey...it's just distortion and delay really, gain is not set very high.

  • Perfect!

  • really good

  • I love the Echo behind the sweeps, thats hot as shit man. Nice tone nice sweeps. awsomeness!

by the way check out my slower version of the sweeps

  • Thanks man :)

  • At least someone can play it right on youtube :P. Nice job, dude.

  • nice shirt

    and nice playing =]

  • holy crap. the words cant come close to desribing this amazingness. keep it!

  • you sweep in circles, excellent technique. you also sit very upright, which is great. you must be a very technical guitarist seeing as we tend to go all balls out and try and naill everythin ghow we want, but you seem to be very technical. well done.

  • TABS PLEASE!

This is the best version ive seen next to the great paul waggoner himself

    good work, mate

    :]

  • Sorry rudeboi, I have no idea where the tab is :( it was similar to one of the interweb, if I find it i'll post a link to it in the description.

  • very good!

  • which model of PRS is this guitar?

  • stanard 24, 20th anniversary. It was alright, mahogany body and neck, with rosewood board...so very dark sounding. If you're after a PRS, i'd grab a custom 24 rather than the standard.

  • Greatest t-shirt in the world, blatantly. And you've got skillage sweeps.

  • Fucking AWESOME man, major props for nailing that :). I wanna try to cover this part but eh, im not oh so good with sweeping. espeically without a neck pick up lol, pain in the ass. but good job man \m/

  • Thanks man, my sweeps really aren't great...everything seems to sound better on cam, with the room ambience and what not. If you do manage make this solo sound good on the birdge pickup, then when you finally put a neck pickup in that badboy it'll sound heavenly :D

  • currently learnin to sweep and thats gonna be the first actual song i play with sweeps

  • DUDE... You have no idea how badly I wish I could do that, I don't play guitar I play drums but I get so jealous when I see people that can play that. Great job

  • Haha, thanks...I get mighty jealous when I see drummers whacking out triple-layer polyrhythms on youtube...HOW THE F**K!?...

  • NIIIICE...cept i hate the sound of guitarpro backing:(...NIce sweeeeeps dude

  • What the hell do you mean your sweeps suck. Sick tone, too.

  • Holy shit, is that a Paul Reed Smith? .....sick

  • It was, I sold it to pay for food, beer etc. sadly

  • oh man, that sucks... i want one so bad. and that one looks so sick.

    new account?

  • You could pick one up for less than £1200 or so now i'm sure, I sold mine for like £900 which is really pretty "cheap" in comparison to similar guitars.

No new account, haha, forgot to sign my bloody brother out! :(

    Thanks man!

  • Oooo

    Nice t-shirt

And thats some badass sweeping you got going on there mate!

  • Thanks man, Opeth are my heroes.

  • sick sweep'n

  • ya man it is sick

and he says his sweeps suck

i wish i could do it like that

  • oh yeah i don't know if you're a fan of michael angelo batio but if you are i just posted a video i recorded of him playing no boundaries live at a local sam ash. he plays so damn good live

  • I'm not really a fan of his playing to be honest, but i saw him perform at a Music Live event in the UK a few years back and i agree he is 100% flawless live, nice guy aswell!

  • that's some clean sweeping. that 6 sting sweeps pretty tricky. i'll repost a vid of it asap. i had to pick the best of a handful of clips on my friends camera and i hadn't been practicing with a metronome until recently. i wanna post a better version though

  • C# standard

  • dang yours is pretty awesome too lol

but yea i dont really care what brandon tells me to do or how to improve or whatever i mean, like he said we jam all the time and we always like, help each other improve and i know that tapping makes it easier for me so thats what i do.

and by the way brandon is an amazing guitarist lol

  • That was class mate.

Dude, what tuning do btbam actually play in?

    would really appreciate a reply

  • in all honesty i don't know. C sharp/D flat maybe?

  • That was awesome.

And like the other person said, who cares about his thumb position.

Whatever is comfortable for him. It sounds great, so who cares?

  • im fuking jelous. your amazing. ive been practicing sweep picking since july it's a pain in the ass

  • nice opeth shirt. your sweeps kick ass dood. im learning the sweeps at this moment. i think you did perfect. i dont think i heard any screw ups.

  • and another thing, i think ur thumb positioning is fine

its not about posture, its about sound

if you can be comfortable and make it sound good than u've done ur job

  • duuuude that was nice

if you have a tab for that, can you send it to me in a message?

  • hey man nice job. im having some trouble finding accurate tabs. ive pretty much got it, but that last arpeggio you do (diminished one) i would like to know the shape.

  • Thanks man, i'm not sure that i play it correctly 2bh, but if you drop me your email address i'll mail you the pattern i used.

  • you have horrible thumb positioning on your left hand.

  • Try sweeping a PRS, sat down, when you have massive hands.

  • bah, thats no excuse. don't put a video up on the internet if you can't eat some constructive criticism :)

  • Show me some 'constructive' criticism and i'll gladly eat it ;)

  • Thank you, I'm seriously thinking of learning the guitar and I'm trying to see who uses what to get an idea of what sounds like what. Do you recommend anything as a first guitar?

  • supremebeing87 as a first guitar i'd suggest ltd they're nice and they don't burn a whole in your pocket if you decide that guitar isn't for you. it just all depends on what "sound" you're going for. if you want a chunky sound like as i lay dying les paul body styles are better so epiphone is good in that department they work as lead guitars too but if you want one thats actually meant for leads jackson, ibanez, and ltd are a few choice brands to take a look at.

  • Thank's, I definetly know I want an Ibanez eventually, I don't know what it is about those guitars, ut everytime I see one, I just want it. haha, I'll definetly check out ltd out, man thank's.

  • both are great for lead guitar stuff. ibanez tend to make better guitars as far as tremolos go. i prefer ltds cause they're much more budget friendly an ibanez of the same quality of a high end ltd is usually at least $200 more

  • Just simply awesome, what kind of guitar do you use and what strings, man, cause they sound simply fucking amazing!

  • Hey, thanks man. In this vid i'm using a 20th anniversary 'Paul Reed Smith' with HFS/Vintage pickups, i use 9-42 gauge d'addario strings.

    Thanks.

  • That was awesome. Do the whole song man

  • Awesome dude!! get some more up

  • I was going to say, isn't that Tam from Beneath the Arches, and yes, yes it is!

  • Haha, oh Dez you cheeky rascal!

  • wow that was great.

  • awesome, wouldn't even have noticed the tuning if you hadn't mentioned it.

  • Nice one TAM!!!

  • ha, you bugger you!

  • Before anyone mentions the tuning...

...yes yes, i know it's a semi-tone sharper than the original or whatever...but my guitar has 9-42 gauge strings on it, haha, it was already like playing elastic bands.

  • you should have just played it a half step down then. It sounds awesome though, probably the first person on youtube ive seen thats been able to keep the timing right without it playing in the backround.
