  • This is so much fun!

  • Awesome!! pretty much sums it up.

  • Well---that was just awesome! And not an easy song, or group for that matter, to capture, but you did. Kudos, y'all!

  • Perfect!!

  • Incredible ! Great musicians ! Beautiful voice !!! REAL GOOD JOB !!!

  • 11/10. Thank you so much for this.

  • A beautiful voice you've got !!!

  • Phenominal. The voice, the acoustic, the flute work, you captured it all.

  • Best Cover of anything on Youtube. Ever.

  • WOW this is pretty good, and I have been to almost 50 tull/Ian Anderson shows so far in my life. This some good stuff

  • WOW this is pretty good, and I have been to almost 50 tull/Ian Anderson shows so far in my life

  • Brilliant man,

I really love what you're doing, keep it up...

  • ....good job....great!!!!

  • really well done gentlemen

  • Maravilloso ¡¡¡¡

    Wonderful

  • WOW great job. !!!!

  • Fantastic and kudos for rocking the RUSH shirt...brilliance personified.

  • fucking great man

  • I really enjoy listening to your music. Three of your songs are in my daily playlist. Great cover versions, great voice. Thank you so much !!!

  • Hey,read your comment about Lennons birthday, it is strange that a guy you never met can be that important to your life i still remember exactly where i was when i was told he had been murdered he had his ups and downs but when he was on top of himself there wasn`t a songwriter in the world he couldn`t match

  • Excellent stuff =]

  • Another great cover......I'm growing a moustache like yours in tribute!

  • An amazing cover of a difficult tune. Excellent, guys.

  • Kick-arse, but what happened to the verse starting "the poet and the painter"?

  • @Leanid The same thing that happened to "with their jock straps pinching they slouch to attention while queing for sarnies at the office canteen." We didn't play it. LOL. This is a truncated version, obviously, but it is still longer than what Tull has been playing in concert for the past couple of decades. In total the three segments we did amounts to right at about 18 minutes. Thanks for your comment. LC

  • @SilverHamer This is by far one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my whole life, AMAZING JOB!

  • Very Good!!!!

  • wow,that is seriously good,really enjoyed it,thanks.

  • beautyful !!!

  • After I wrote and posted my comment, I realized I had failed to acknowledge the other three performers in this video. Sorry for my oversight. All of you did an excellent job!!

I'm still amazed at all the talent here and am anxious to watch the remaining two segments of this one (as well as other videos by "SilverHamer")... :)

  • OMG... this is the second video I've watched of yours. Just watched "Cross-Eyed Mary" and didn't think I could be any more impressed. You have caught the essence of Ian Anderson so WELL !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm left in awe and amazement!!! :-)

  • @MsPreciousParrot I had some excellent help on this one from 3 very talented friends. If you haven't already, I hope you will watch the other 2 segments of this song as well. It was a monster of an undertaking but it was a lot of fun for us.

  • Standing, shouting, and clapping!!!!!

  • Fucking great !!!! Good job, love it.

  • Totally excellent!

  • Excellent! I bow to your greatness!!!!

  • Hey silverhamer great version i remember when i was a 10 year old kid

heard aqualung on the tv thinking god he looks so weird but it sounds

    great lol

  • PS.. love how you did the crazy eyes like he always did lol

  • That is Funkin Awesome..Man I used to listen to Tull a bunch...Loved Aqualung especially

  • @Billgillum1 Thanks Bill. Yep, the music of Tull is timeless, no matter what anybody has to say. It is always challenging to play, too. Ian Anderson is a genius, and has always had a fantastic supporting cast of great musicians.

  • Fantastic, Larry! I always enjoy seeing you work/play.

  • @jatras Thanks Jeff...always great to hear from you bro!

  • Back actually in 1971....mid-Dec before this album had been formally released I saw JETHRO TULL do this show.......at the Palm Beach Auditorium. Captain Beefheart actually open so that it will tell you it was a few moons ago. I have seen them 15 times since. Your 3 segments were AWESOME!!!!! What great Music. Thanks for posting

  • @adanforth66 Thanks...if I had been able to see them 15 times you can darn well bet I would have. I've seen them a total of 5 times, caught the '72 and '73 tours, then again in '80 & '81...and lastly in 2003 when they toured the Living With The Past set. Loved them every time I saw them, and would go see them again if the opportunity arises.

  • Best cover ever! It sounds so... perfect!

  • @LnTREis Thank you! I don't know about it sounding perfect, but I think we got pretty close. :D

  • that was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gango13 Thank you gango!

  • You sound better than Ian Anderson does now-a-days.

  • @chicagotransam OWCH! I thank you just the same. It is very sad indeed that Ian's vocal chords have become so tired...sometimes when I see/hear him singing these days I wish that I could lend him some assistance...not that I would actually make him sound any better, but still...it's pretty painful. We still love him to pieces though because he IS da man! :D

  • @SilverHamer

No disrespect meant man.. He has been my fave since I couldn't reach a bar top. Just wish I could have enjoyed him live in his peak.

  • you guys are awesome!

  • Incredible. I have no words! je je je. I love Jethro. I had the opportunity to enjoy Jethro Tull in Estepona (Spain) in a beautiful and unforgettable concert, and I could talk to Mr Anderson, just a few words... In my opinion Jethro is one of the best bands of all times!

Thanks for the cover and greeting from Spain.

PD: Sorry for my bad English!

  • @DARKSEI Hey, your english is fine. I'm sorry it has taken me 2 months to reply and thank you for your nice comment. Yes, there is none like Jethro Tull, and probably never will be another. It must have been a nice treat to even be able to say hello to Ian, I envy you for that.

  • Brilliant Guys Totally loved it...!

  • This has to be best group cover of Thick As Brick ... I don't know

what to say you guys! I hope everyone watching know how much

work that went into this.! WOW I mean... WOW...

  • @Pattonfrodo Hey Craig...thanks. This project WAS a lot of work. I had done the whole thing myself over the course of about 3 years but it just didn't sound good with keyboard bass and flute with electronic drums. When the guys in EMP agreed to pitch-in and make it legit I couldn't be more thrilled. MarkD (drums) had to learn the song as he wasn't very familiar with it at the time we began collaborating. In the end all of us were very pleased with the outcome. Thanks for your comments! LC

  • You guys are totally RIGHTEOUS!

  • Just now and again something really great comes out of the internet above all the crap and hatred and hurt. THIS IS ONE OF THE TRUELY GREAT THINGS!!! Superb well done guys!

  • any chance of a guitar demo of the bit under where it goes "spin me back down the years....." ?

  • Hardly can't believe my ears and eyes. This is Jethro Tull !

  • Very good!!!

  • FANTASTIC!!!

I have seen JT many times since the

    70's. That was awesome!!

  • WOW! awesome!

  • Really awesome guys, keep up the good work! A little fast though isnt it? awesome nonetheless

  • You guys rock. I loved the Jerusalem cover too! Keep on rockin'.

  • excelente!!

  • Wow! SupermegagigacoooooL!

  • You guys did an awesome job on an outstanding song, congrats!!! Well done! Nice to see Tull fans are alive and well and still digging Tull. And what about younger generations discovering the classic older stuff... nice to see. Jakob... Anderson perhaps!!!

  • Holy sh*t, why isn`t this #1 on Youtube?? My mouth is laying on the floor! This is incredible!

  • I think that it has a lot to do with the fact that most real Tull fans are getting on in years (like me), many of which don't hang out on the internet...youtube in particular. But hey, some of us manage to stay young at heart just the same. :D I am very glad you enjoyed this...it was a real challenge to learn it, but a lot of fun to come together with the other guys and compile it all. How about our friend Jakob on the flute, huh? Incredible! He defies my first comment about Tull fans.

  • great job!!!!

  • You guys are really good !! I've seen Tull many, many times and this is very close.

  • Bravo!!!

    EV

  • Beautiful - just beautiful.

The best song ever. And You do it so fantastic.

I remenber back there in 1972 (i think) after 20 minutes you had to turn over the record and fetch the condom (!!)

This song is only overtaken by Zappa (ofcourse) and The Snowgoose (Camel).

Its a classic of the classics....

    Im amazed!!

Sorry for my bad english / best regards.

  • Larry, COOL ........ as ever.

Hey in other video I see you got a twin, send him to Argentina, I need a good voice in my group!!! ;-)

    Regards Larry, boys, WELL DONE!

  • très bon job larry

  • I like it! Not perfect but damn close..

  • Wow, amazing! Awesome playing/singing.

  • This is amazing!!

  • Man this is fantastic, just incredible! What I wouldn`t pay to see this live, I mean seriously, $3000 bucks easily I would lay out without even thinking twice. You just don`t get this kind of ass kicking music anymore.

  • thats amazing, keep on doin whatcha do , you guys are sweet.

  • awesome stuff do you guys play together live?

  • Superb dude!! You guys should tour as a Tull cover band man!!!

  • Really Nice Guys!!! very well done. You put a lot of love and effort into this tribute....Jeff 5

  • one of the very seldom really good cover songs!

  • Music resonates from your heart Larry. I always enjoy watching you brother! 10 ***********

  • This is a brilliant cover and collaboration of one of the most celebrated rock bands of all time. Jethro Tulls' Thick as a Brick is such a difficult composition with its dynamics and time changes and length. Not many can even come close to duplicating all that was created in it. 5*****s! God Bless. Ray

  • Congratulations excelent exhibition. You have a lot of talent.

  • Can't Believe that your voice is so identical to Ians!

    Amazing Cover!Keep it up!

  • Those vocals were spot on!

  • superb

  • Jethro Tull, and honestly it sounds better than the original. You guys just got a new admirer. Really, the Lord gave you guys real talent. Never saw a flute player go that fast. COOL.

  • love the rush shirt. rush rules

  • Incredible job you did there, people!

Say, I see you are part of the EMP project. I've seen a couple of things about this project on the net a while ago, and I was wondering if you take applications for collaborations! You can see some of my drum videos in my profile (the ones that haven't been removed by WMG...), and I am quite potent with vocals too... I'm waiting for your reply, thanks!

  • WMG picking on you too? HAHAHA. Nobody is immune. If you'd like to try out for a collab with EMP you need to get a message to MarkE (co-founder of EMP) His youtube page can be found at youtube(dot)com/hawkstudio

  • Sorry, I forgot to thank you for your very nice comment. This was surely a labor of love for all involved, but we are very pleased with how it turned out. Thanks for hanging in there...have you watched parts 2 and 3 as well?

  • Good work guys! Especially love the flautist who looks like a car accident victim who's covered in bandages..LOL! keep up the good wurk!

  • This job is incresible, thank you so much!! From Peru!!

  • This is great, man! Gives me goosebumps every time!

    Greetings from 24 y.o. Tull-fan from Norway

  • you guy(s) - in their multiple incarnations - are GOOD. is your "real life" also related to music?. really impressive. too bad that handmade music is not "innest" at the moment, but there could be a comeback around the corner...

  • excelente,enhorabuenam magnifica version.

  • Hi SilverHamer.

Did you have a photograph present during the recording of this video? - I see flashes :)

    ....

This is the zillionth time I watch this video. IT'S AWSOME STILL :)

    Arnt P in Norway

  • Beautifull !!!!

  • Hey! Nice stuff! Check out our version of thick as a brick! Would love to know what you think! Cheers!!

  • Brilliant performance guys!

  • Off the chain as allways Larry!!! You guys are a collection of talent that inspries me. Thank you! Russell in Baton Rouge La. (a old Tull fan like yourself)

  • That was pretty cool!

    You rock Larry!

    Kenny

  • Absolutely stellar guys.....JESUS, that should prove that age triumphs over youth anyday LOL WOW.....I am floored right now. Youdont see people play like that anymore, it is all about volume and distortion to cover up instead of playing clean and smooth.

  • i love your stuff man.great cover. keep it up!

  • As usual, Larry that was awesome! Loved the vocals. Really coool work there on Mark, Mark and Jak as well. Five stars to the whole virtual band. Would be good to see an instructional post on how you put it together (roughly).

  • Done nicely..Wow!...Awesome! I'm a old Tull Fan....from the 70s ..Good Job Guys! Russell in Baton Rouge

  • wooooow

    this is really great

you have made an excellent job

    5 ***** =^-^=

    ok.bye bye.

  • Excellent arrangement and performance¡ 5*

  • that was amazing lc! rock on bro...

    peace,

    mark

  • Thanks, Mark. Yea, I had some pretty amazing help on this, too. These guys are tons of fun to work with, and they are amazingly talented on top of it all. :D LC

  • Buenisimo tema!

  • excellent performance

  • Brilliant sound, very professional, your collaboration is commendable. 5***** John.

  • man i love tull! i'm telling you, you guys are tight. i would fucking love to jam with you guys, the whole gang! how cool would that be?

  • This was by far the BIGGEST long-distance recording project I've ever tackled...especially with the video clips. The amazing thing is that we all live in different parts of the country, as well as the world. Jak (on flute) lives in Graz, Austria!! MarkE (bass) is in Pennsylvania, and MarkD (drums) is in New Jersey. Two more members of EMP, David (keyboards) lives in Florida, and Graham (guitars/vocals) lives in Liverpool, UK!! Dave and Graham didn't play on this one though...wish they had.

  • The effort was worth it. This is phenomenal!!

If I could give it ten stars, i would.

  • man, you guys are tight. nice vocals too, mine not so much...

    good job 5 stars

    mark

  • Thank you! I love you for this!

  • What exactly is the point of this? You are all great musicians but you have nothing original to offer !

  • Aaaahhhh, so you've missed the point? The point is to have a good time playing good music with some friends who are great musicians! We all have careers outside of music so this is just something we do for fun. I have a few original songs posted but only a few in video format, most of them are in audio format only and are posted elsewhere because I don't like what youtube does to my audio. For the most part this is all for fun, not for career aspirations. Still pointless to you?

  • ... Says the guy with only a Neil Young cover in his videos...

  • that was FANTASTIC!

my dad used to play that song all the time.

  • TOTALLY SMOKIN'......

    A SilverHamer Fan

  • Great. Good job. Thanks for sharing

  • This is very good! I'm adding this to my favorites list and giving a 5* rating. Very well produced.

    Bob

  • Nicely done!!!!!

  • Seen Tull no less than a dozen times. Even the early days at the Marquee in London back in 1969. For 36 years I've been looking forward to someone nailing down the intricate parts of TAAB, and here it is. Sheesh what an effort... you nailed it. Well done.

  • I would like to play with your band.... :)

  • you are very good.....wise men don't know

  • Guys, you are real freaks, fantastic! It sounds so perfect...unbelievable!!!

  • I like this version more than the original :)

  • hey , come on....

  • These cats deserve respect...

  • Excellent job! I don't think Ian Anderson and his band of merry pranksters could have done any better. You guys obviously put a lot of effort into this. If I could give you six stars, I would, but I'll DAMNED sure give ya five!*****

  • Man beauty music, beauty song, perfect voice.

    Very good fantastic!

  • wow....you guys did an awesome job with this. I'm very impressed

  • Spin me back down the years and the days of my youth.

Draw the lace and black curtains and shut out the whole truth.

Spin me down the long ages: let them sing the song.

Larry really captures Ians essience here

  • Great job....!!!!

  • Just to say... fantastic!!!!!!!!

  • Damn that was good!

    Awesome musicianship

  • Just, wow. Spot on guys. And the bass has more 'oomph' here than in the record (I like it more this way!). More Tull than Tull itself.

  • Yo silverhamer and band, what a great production. This is a major effort, and you guys did it well. Great tribute.

  • Nice job Larry! All of you guys are truly talented musicians. It sounds like a professional recording even on youtube!

  • AMAAAAAAAAAAAAZING def favoriting this

  • Beautiful...

  • You are amazing!!! I'm going to see Jethro Tull on August 6 and I cannot wait.

  • I'm speechless. Literally.

  • FLAWLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Interesting song and this must have taken a lot of work Larry.

  • Amazing awesome vid i cannot believe the power of online collaborations

  • I had high expectations while anxiously awaiting this coveted video; I must say it exceeded my imagination. Lc, Jak and the Marks (brothers) you guys are awesome and multi-talented individually, and together you plain and simply kick a**! A fitting tribute to 40yrs. of Tull and by far the best ever cover on YouTube. I look forward to the other two installments. Bravo!!! 10 stars! (I rated twice).

  • Little Milton would be really proud! JP

  • Excellent Job Guys!!

  • This is excellent! You are always amazing! What an awesome collab! 5*****

  • Really awesome!!! You guys rock!!! Woooohoo yeah!!!
