  • Great song and video....

  • Paying for school scares the hell out of me

  • Great song and video.... what is that old saying? "Money can not buy health or happiness! "

Life is a journey, we all have to decide what path to go down... no two journey's are the same. Some times finding those real life lessons are where you least expect them.... how much do they cost?

Some times I wonder if ignorance is really bliss.

  • Great song !! Education should be free. Peace.

  • I'm around 28,000 and growing... Grad School is a mixed blessing. Schools paid for via scholarships, living isn't. And it isn't cheap to live in downtown Toronto...

  • also the dog father is the reason I eat 3 times a day that guy is awesome

  • As a student from Halifax and the fact that we pay literally twice as much for everything in existence in this wonderful city of ours makes this song that much more brutal

  • You're all going to have aneurysms when you see US tuitions

  • ? ftus@wilonator

  • @h1n1v1rus yes. it is I.

  • maybe if a Canadian went to the us @wilonator

  • One of the reasons im going into the canadian forces, i couldnt spend every penny ive ever made, plus have to borrow about 10x that... this is rediculious, somethings got to change, and soon.

  • my classmates here are around 100,000-150,000$ in debt... canada is pretty well off in general.

  • I love how they got the dog father to make an appearance!

  • i think i'm around $12,000 in debt now. I'm 23.. that's an ominous number... education should be a right, not a privilege to those who can afford it!

  • I dont understand some ppl's comments.. Are they saying that only those who can afford university should be allowed to go? If so, what would become of all the engineers, businessmen, computer programmers, scientists, etc. who would be unable to achieve what they are capable of but could not because they don't have the 100k for 4+ years in university?

  • I miss shooting this. This was the most fun I've had on a shoot. Well done to all involved!

  • alan rickman

  • 15 people are brainless!

  • $35000 Student at McMaster U.

  • I'm not sure what all these negative comments are for. They are not diminishing any other world issues by simply stating that the cost of university here is absurd. We do live comfortable lives compared to most of the world, but our parents and grandparents and US have paid taxes to the government and will continue to do so in the future. We are the future of the country, and we need some support to get the education needed to make positive changes!

  • @Temp93 THOUSANDS of DOLLARS in dept... whats dept? its spelled debt. you obviously know a lot about it duuude

  • @123tindris, you are absolutely right, Europe needs to watch this video!

  • I think we need to take a closer look at our European counter-parts who practically have little to not education fees for post-secondary education, especially Germany.

  • What has happened to individual responibility? If you don't think you're going to be able to pay back your loan(s), or if you think your debt is going to be so high that you have to make a sappy music video, then DO NOT TAKE A LOAN. Tuition in NS has not increased that much in the last 4-5 years. You take out 20K+ in loans, you pay back 20K+ in loans... why do you all seem so surprised? Post secondary degrees are not a right, and you hippies probably shouldn't have gone to Uni in the first place

  • @mattjmd well hello mr capitalist. Us hippies don't speak as slowly or wisely as you do, so please bear with me. The point of the video is: university costs a pretty penny, hate to break it to you mr. drucker. And guess what, even hippies need to feed themselves and move out of their parents house. Oh, and incidentally the video is humorous you nincompoop. Or maybe sappy, depending on how far the corporate penis has lodged itself in your anus.

  • @johnliamten

Ferraris cost a pretty penny, which is why I walk, or take the bus. Or bike. Or bum a ride. Or do anything but borrow taxpayers' money to buy a ferrari, that I can't pay back, which apparently I delusionally think the Charter says I am entitled to.

And if hippies need to "feed themselves and move out of their parents' house,'' the ****ing last place they should be is in a university. Are you high?

  • @mattjmd You realise there are some people who don't have access to those $20K+ loans, i rely on student loans from the government and so have almost no say in the amount given, which by the way, is not nearly enough. And everyone has a right to education, making it so they can't afford it is taking away that right.

  • @KylarKage666

Everybody has a right to an education. You do not, and never will, have a 'right' to a post-secondary education, let alone one paid for by anybody but you. If you really think you have a 'right 'to go to university on someone else's dime, let alone go to university at all, you're a fool.

  • @mattjmd I never said anything about going to university on someone else's dime, no one pays for me to go to university but me, i have to pay back my student loans just like everyone else and i'm insulted that you think i am.

  • @KylarKage666

HA! Rise early and water your money tree. Where exatly does the money you borrow (unless it's a line of credit from your own private financial institution) come from? If it's a gov't (provincial and/or federal)student loan, cry me a river and build me a bridge. Then go **** yourself.

  • sorry canada, but your debt is nowhere near that of college kids in the u.s.

  • your a idiot @rchdee8028

  • @rchdee8028 oh, sorry for trying to improve things for ourselves. I guess we should just be happy with the comparison, and every time we realize we don't have enough money to pay rent or buy enough groceries, we should content ourselves with the thought that someone in the US has it worse. thanks so much! I feel better now.

  • Good for your guys, for doing this.

  • @CANAD14N uhh... Pickles?

  • @BMLAtkinson1 keep learning even if you only do it part time. You will appreciate it as you get older

  • *because of poverty*

  • This is why i am not going back to school after grade 12

  • @BMLGAtkinson1 Do me a favour. Hold the pickles

  • it breaks my heart....

  • I'm 53 and disabled and all of it is student loan. I will be paying, if the man sees fit to hire me, until I am 68 years old. Give us all a little break.

  • Tuition costs much more now than it did in the past relative to students' earning power.

Check out the Georgia Straight article entitled "Rising tuition leads to a two-tiered system."

You used to have to work 90 hours to raise the money to pay for a year's tuition. Now you have to work 283.

Additionally, we're already subsidizing education, but only by enough for it to make a difference for those who don't need subsidies. Welfare for the rich.

  • And I will state that if employers had to pay for college, they would then have to seriously rethink whether they need college or not for a given job. Because let me tell you right now, most entry level jobs require no more than an 8th grade level education. You should NEVER have to invest in a job. An employer gets all the profits, he/she should take the risks on investment. There's little sense in investing 100K for a job when you could use that same money to start your own company. . .

  • @MegaAvalonn

    Spot on.

  • You guys are awesome! I know I'm feeling the money crunch for school and I'm glad you guys are bringing attention to it in a fun and positive way. Paying for school all on your own is pretty damn expensive

  • to those who say get a job: you are the most ignorant fucktards on youtube, and that's saying something. I have 2 jobs, which I have had since I was 14. I've saved up a lot of money, and I'm still gonna end up 40,000 in debt by the time I get out. I don't have any parental or grandparental assistance. So to everyone who says stop whining, I say: Fuck You. It's not whining, it's raising awareness for the exploitation of modern youth.

  • I don't often make a point of disagreeing with people because, for the most part, every side of an argument is valid. However, you are apart of an extremely small percentage of humans who don't have to think about food insecurity and thus are able to get these educations! This video is just an indulgence in the ego and time wasted when you could have been bringing awareness to an issue far greater than just you and your ability to get your "beer, pepsi or coke".

  • @mayabethechange you are clearly an idiot. how can you say that universities exploiting kids (who need the education to deal with any important issue in the world) is not a valid issue?

  • @thestevenmccool

I certainly see some validity in this, I too am a student with debt. I'm just frustrated with the way students throw around the term "poverty" and actually try and identify themselves with it. If you actually want to discuss poverty than you'll have to be okay with stepping outside of your comparably luxurious life as a student. But by the sound of your obnoxiously defensive nature I doubt you're even interested in that topic.

  • @mayabethechange ya you do that buddy. its a song, and by the way, according to canada, i live in poverty with my family, and its not about to get any better once i start paying tuition. the issue here is not disscussing "poverty" but rather bringing awareness to the unreasonably high tuition prices, and then the pressure on our generation to change things, which seems pretty hypocritical considering the only way we can get educated is to pay the older generations. learn how to listen to music.

  • @mayabethechange cause if you notice, they say "closer to poverty" lol

  • @thestevenmccool

and if you take a closer look at the title of the video....

  • @mayabethechange clever. hope youre not too dense to understand the purpose of attention grabbing titles. besides, if you listen to music, the message is not always just the straight meaning of the title. i bet your legal philosophy is the letter of the law. seriously we both get what this is about, your focusing on the pessimism and im focusing on the optimism... so keep criticizing people for whining and i'll keep being glad weve got people to draw attention to these issues.

  • @thestevenmccool

we're always focusing on ourselves and our immediate situations, as if we aren't able to see the bigger picture. I mean you can't disagree with the fact that we all live pretty comfy lives compared to the majority of the world and yet here we are complaining. You're right though that we're lucky that we've got people to draw attention to issues, I don't think it's right that Nova Scotian students are made to pay more than the average Canadian student.

  • @thestevenmccool

If only we could both use the amount of passion that was put into insulting each other, instead into the bigger issues. Positive energy in the world makes more a difference than negative energy ever could.

  • @mayabethechange too true, i just like to focus on issues at home more than in other parts of the world. to be honest i dont think our system is too great, and i have no idea how to change it. you gotta go to school to figure that stuff out, and sometimes complaining is the only way to get things changed

  • @thestevenmccool

you should definitely check out the RSA video on "Changing Education Paradigms" as well as "RSA animate- 21st Century Enlightenment". I feel optimistic in the inevitable change in education and thus tuition. Where I don't feel optimistic is in in the reality of the life of poverty stricken people around the world. That's why I felt the need to bring it up. An issue like this almost feels unworthy in comparison.

  • @mayabethechange i agree, education is sure to change for the better. idk i guess my belief is that its better to perfect our system here and then try to implement it on the world. i get where youre coming from. i think one of the most important things is showing people in other countries that we can take care of our own welfare. then it will help the world come together on issues. still though, its all pretty complicated

  • You guys do realize that the minute the government offers each student say, 10k in grant money, the schools will just raise tuition by 10k? The fact of the matter is college is a business, and a scamming business at that! You guys need to research/read/watch the videos of the work done by Peter Shiff. He explains the economic college bubble. . . You could also visit my blog for details.

  • @MegaAvalonn so how do you expect us to get a job without university? Where are we to attain post-secondary credibility? I'm sorry but jobs do not higher people without this, it may be a bubble but its a necessity in our society unless you wish to be a farmer or join the military. Even I am in the military and I need to get a degree in order to advance in the senior officer ranks.

  • @123tindris

It's called inflation. Because everyone is going to college, employers can now ask for a Master's degree to become a secretary. Hey, why shouldn't they? It doesn't cost them anything. . . The truth of the matter is EMPLOYERS SHOULD PAY FOR COLLEGE. It isn't the government's or the people's responsibility to makie sure company ABC has superstar employees. If less people went to college, deflation would occur, and we would no longer see a Master's for a secretary.

  • @MegaAvalonn very good point. I was watching CNN today and they were saying top CEO's of major corporations are going to the president and screaming at him and are infuriated because they can no longer find the employees with the proper training to fill the ESSENTIAL positions in their business because of the lack of science and mathematics and evening basic art skills. But I think Canada is better off than the US b/c we have government loans that help us a great deal.

  • I can't understand why anyone would even consider posting some of the nonsense and hatred I have seen, but then, people can be extremely ignorant. I'm so glad you guys did this and are trying to raise awareness and draw attention to something that is a problem in North America, not just Nova Scotia. Actually, it's a problem in many places for many people. University is expensive, and yet there is little you can do without a degree of some sort. Good job guys!

  • I will be a dalhousie 2011 graduate with a total debt (nova scotia loan, canada loan, bank loan) of 78,480!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is from someone who has worked throughout their entire university education just to pay tuition/cost of living. to those of you who are saying we should get a job... go f*&k yourself, you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Great job on the video. Unfortunately it is the sad reality and only getting worse.

  • honestly, university students have to stop whining about spending their parents money...get off your lazy asses and get a job. in the time it took to make this song they could have made like a hundred bucks and invested it or some shit!!

  • @fighterpilots13 You're obviously a complete idiot, and obviously unaware that many students have NO financial support from parents or family members, and that MANY work several jobs at a time to put themselves through university, and they STILL have to pay back THOUSANDS of dollars in dept.

  • Hope all the BA students out there can get jobs after spending all that money.

  • You guys did a great job!

I live in the US, and my sign says 300 thousand dollars.

It all started when I was young-just like you guys.

  • The Doggfather!

  • ROCK ON BUDDY THE DOGGFATHER

  • ROCK ON BUDDY

  • amazing. good job to all of you :) great song.

  • Tuition in Nova Scotia must be still affordable because plenty of guys I went to school with 9 years ago, are still in school, working on the same bachelors degree

  • I wish I had a mantastic pony tail like that

  • Great job on this video!!! Well done indeed. As a parent I have the great privilege of being in a position to help my kids with education costs. My parents just kicked me out the door when I was going to school, so I can relate to students with big debt loads. Keep making music and keep speaking up for things that matter!

  • Great song, many kids work hard to pay their way, a few may blow it but not the majority. most studentloans don't cover half the cost, and God help them if they work the summer they'll get less loans. They pay these loans back the government should be giving them what they need. not nickel and diming them to death.

  • It's insane how much tuition costs. I graduated 3 years ago and I still owe $26 000 :p

  • I love how the full price note is signed - The Man hahaha.

  • @melodydan22 I'm so glad someone noticed this! haha!

  • I love that the Halifax Herald is reporting this as "viral" at ~17,000 hits; judging from the numbers, it seems to have added no more than 100 hits since the piece was published this morning.

  • @prokoscho Lesson in YouTube: 1. "Viral" is a meaningless term. 2. views get updated every 2.5 - 3.5 hours in order to verify the validity of the views. 3. when it is a big jump, the first update will often be small before a leap. Example, I was involved in a video that got 150,000 views in the first day. The first update was only 400 views, then the next was 65,000 on top of that. So just know that a) 17,000 views is very impressive, b) it ain't over yet, so don't jump the gun on your sarcasm

  • @sofakingawesum My criticism is directed more toward the lazy language employed by the Halifax Herald, but thanks for being defensive anyhow.

  • @prokoscho hahaha sorry lol. I didn't mean to have a defensive tone. I'm just a goof when I type and forget that some people don't know that already :P. Keep it real yo

  • @sofakingawesum No worries : ) It seems to have added close to 3,000 hits today, so it does seem to be catching on to some extent, no?

  • Also, to those people who are saying to pay tuition and stop drinking and buying guitars and whatever, the guitar player needs his guitar for his classes, as he commented earlier. How can you just assume all students are spending all or any of their money drinking. Yes, there are some who do, but you cannot just stereotype all university students as heavy drinkers and smokers and whatnot.

  • To the people who are saying that showing these low levels of debt on their signs, you have to remember that most of these students have not finished university yet! Many of them still have 2 or 3 or even more years of debt to add on to what they already have!

  • @Csislander2 It's not the viewers job to make the friggin' argument for the authors. If someone has a sign with 6k on it, and no indication as to whether that's after 10 years, 4 years, or 1 year of school... I can assume whatever I want. I don't "have to remember" anything, the authors have to make a more compelling argument with more specific, convincing numbers.

  • Great vid! 30% of Canadian households are living paycheck to paycheck...this should resonate with all Canadians.

  • This video can't decide if it wants to be funny or tackle the issues. Showing how much someone owes right before cutting to three guys in a shower is not effective. Just sayin'.

  • maybe if you spent your money on tuition rather than ray bans, fender stratocasters and bar tabs 3 nights of the week you wouldn't have to sing this song. just a little hint

  • Tuition in the united states is way too high, students shouldn't straddled with something like this when these students are the ones who will be coming out to shape the future of the country.

  • I can't believe how low those debts were... I'm assuming most of those people were current students and not students who are finished their programs. I think those numbers would be much higher! There should be a video showing the totals.

  • I can't believe how low those debts were... I'm assuming most of those people were current students and not students who are finished their programs. I think those numbers would be much higher!

  • I would bet my entire student debt that his eyes are not bloody from studying.

  • Awesome job guys! DogFather ftw!

  • Perhaps spending some time working instead of making whining music videos would be a good idea? F***ing Dal hipsters, gimme a break. Put the bong and Chomsky down you f***ing idiots. Nobody forced you to take out a loan, or to go to a NS university. I did both of those things (2 degrees, 2 schools), and you won't catch me belting out some sappy bleeding heart hippie BS song. Typical lazy Dal/Kings lefties blaming everyone else but themselves. Makes me sick.

  • Students holding up posters with 6k are just starting out, so double that each year for the next 4-6 or more years! Amazing song and video!!!

  • I think it would have been more effective if it used debts that were a little more extreme. For instance, I couldn't get any assistance from my parents and went through on student/bank loans. My wife (who I met at university) was in the same position. We didn't waste any money and ended up with debt far in excess of $100k (half decent jobs 5 yrs later) we needed $40k per year (gross) to pay our student loan payments. So when you display $6k, I don't blame people saying your whining.

  • @cohenluke

See, I said the same thing (a little more passionately, maybe) and am getting like, attacked for it, haha.. I am in my last year and 50k in the hole, also was unable to receive ANY help from parents... all loans and part-time jobs (full-time in summers) and it's been brutal. Hopefully people back off lol, because people like us have a good point, too. Video has a good message overall, but seems a bit weak.

  • very good video...my son will be starting university in the fall....hopefully he won't incur a lot of debt.

  • indeed it is lol

  • Sympathy is between shit and syphilis in the dictionary. Look there.

  • maybe after alot of you guys stop being assholes you will realize that our tuitions are higher than the national average which means they do have a valid reason for complaining. As well as we have highest taxes and higher prices for food u douche bag u piss me off!. people dissing these people piss me off!!! at least they have the balls to stand up for what they beleive in. and are talented people. also they are not talking about illnesses or anything like that so why r u.

  • Woooooooooooooo! Go Halifax! Free Mr. Noodles at my house all day for students!

  • sell your guitar.

  • As a student who is in community college with a current debt of aprox. $12, 000, this song really reaches out to me. Yes, I will be able to pay my loan of with no problems at all, but it's the fact that I am living with my father in a low-income home, living off my student loans with absolutely no extras. I am unemployed because of a crappy economy in the area, which makes it even harder. I can barely afford to put gas in my car to get myself to school.

  • Sorry about the multiple comments I was jogging on the treadmill, I am too talented lol:)))

  • The lowest funded province (NovaScotia ) and students do not need anymore hikes in anything let alone tuition! So sit back relax and enjoy the video and recognize the artists who created it!!!

  • The low

  • Did the Barenaked Ladies song, "If I had a million dollars", get criticized for not needing a million dollars???The student poverty song is a fun song performed by a young amazing band IGA and video directed by an even younger 18 year old director Dillon Garland and shot by cinematographer Mitch Bank ,all of who are young artists showing off their talents to provide entertainment for all of us, adding in a message that should be heard as we are

  • A university degree is an investment, not a right. If people think their degress won't pay off, then they shouldn't go to school.

  • Comment removed

  • wow this song sucks (no offense). These same students are wearing $100 lululemon and sippin on a $6 Starbucks. Gimme a break about your poverty claim!

  • @iliveinhalifax

yeah, the poverty claim is a bit much. no one is really THAT hard up. on the other hand, high tuition is shitty, and you'll wear your debt well past your 40s, which I don't think is really right for something so important..

    @jschw052

An education should be a right. Particularly if you can't get a job without a university degree.

  • @734P4R7Y

You can get a job without a university degree - that's what trades are all about. And why should everyone else further subsidize students who pursue educations without objectively considering the job market that awaits them when they're done? I have friends in medical school with over 100K of student debt, but they don’t seem overly hung up on obtaining more tuition subsidies; they know they’ll be able to get jobs with their degrees and pay off their debt.

  • @734P4R7Y Education is not a right, you are not entitled to it and acting so won't get you anywhere. The gov't already provides you with a basic education (high school diploma), but that's because a well-educated populace is something worth investing in. That's why I don't mind paying taxes for people to get a HS diploma. Why should I pay tax dollars to support a theatre student? I might as well pay taxes for someone to play hockey. Actually, that would probaby have more economics spin offs...

  • Okay, SERIOUSLY?!? Really?

All these people in the video with the signs of like, $5000, $6,000... $10,000... even $20,000... F#$&ing BITE ME. I am over $50,000 in debt from student loans. Under 20k is NOT A BIG DEAL. Effin' whiners. SUCK IT UP. The only ones in the video who have any right at all to complain are the ones that were like $45,625, $30,000.

The song is amazing though!!! Really great message!!!

  • @kittychan528 you fail t take into account the ages of people in the video. different people are probs at different stages of their degree/ etc.

  • @harrisonm18

Even so. 6k debt, 1st year... x4 for a full term, = 24k. STILL NOT A BIG DEAL, compared to those of us in over our heads over 50. Sorry but it's hard to sympathize.

  • @kittychan528 how f*cking selfish are you? Because you have more of a right to bitch, that means you can't empathize? Can you imagine if people used that philosophy in other areas of life? "oh, your mom died of breast cancer? Well I lost my entire family in a house fire.....so I can't really feel sorry for you." Get your head out of your ass.

  • @McMusic4u

Empathy is circumstantial. Money and debt is a HELL of a lot different than sickness and death. Ironically, my mother had breast cancer, and I would never compare the two.

Yea, debt sucks. Yea, school costs WAAY too much. My point is, 6k can be paid off in a matter of a year, whereas 50k takes a hell of a lot longer. So yea, frustrates me to see people getting all whiny when they have NO IDEA how hard it really gets.

  • @kittychan528 oh how misguided you are. Hopefully after you finish your degree in film, you might grow up a bit and become a decent human being. Maybe you'll become the next James Cameron and pay off everyone's student debt (fun fact, James Cameron never went to film school......bet it feels like $50,000 well spent now eh). And please, tell me, how hard does it get? Because I know people who could tell you to go fuck yourself because their house got foreclosed upon. Whiny little bitch.

  • @McMusic4u

LOL make up your mind! Are we talking about student debt, or other parts of life? Because I'm talking about student debt. What's yours, 13k? Living in a house mommy and daddy paid for? Bite me lol. I was just commenting that some people have it a LOT worse than 6k, but the video still has a GREAT message.

And I could care less about Cameron...? Not interested in making movies. Not sure where that came from XD

  • @kittychan528 "commenting" is putting it lightly. You were playing the "who can bitch more" game and it's stupid. My point of this arguing is that every person has a right to be upset for any hardships that they feel, and it's not your place to tell the differently. Also, the reason I can say this is that I have $150,000 of debt (yay US schools) and I'm paying it off by having a good job. That's why you're pissing me off, I can still empathize with these people, and you're being a douche.

  • Comment removed

  • how can people dislike this video? They like debt?

  • @123tindris

No, they dislike whining students that don't take responsibility for their own stupid decisions.

  • Sell your guitar, idiot. You aren't poor.

  • @groundhog593 yes...because selling a guitar for $500 will definitely cover a $30,000 loan. Do you do financial consulting by any chance? May I hire you to manage my finances? Maybe I'll use my $2,000 car as collateral against my mortgage loan. Are you one of the Lehman Brothers? I think they had a similar strategy when it came to loans.....and it seems to be working out just swimmingly for them. Idiot.

  • @sofakingawesum I'm not saying a loan isn't a drag: I'm saying it doesn't make you a victim of poverty. Chronic hunger, homelessness, inability to get a loan at all ... those may quality you for the label. But not having to forego puppy ownership and eating hotdogs for lunch.

  • @groundhog593 Well, considering student debt basically decides how much money you can live on for the year, it can make you a victim of poverty. The more you get in debt, the more you have to work to pay it off, and the more you will have to pay back. When people finish school, their loan payments are often more than a mortgage.

  • @groundhog593

As a guitar student, selling my guitar would be a bad call. I appreciate the constructive feedback though.

Also, please don't take the video as meaning students are literally impoverished- it's just a song... a song that's meant to be lighthearted and fun enough to listen to and enjoy but just serious enough to relate to the issues at hand.

    All the best,

    A

  • @AntoManuele It just seems to me the word "poverty" is over-playing what´s going on. It tries to make the issue about the hardships of indebted students, but that arguments falls apart when we look at the luxuries we really do have, when compared to others. Trying to make students out to look like victims isn´t going to work. I feel like we´d make so much more headway if, instead of trying to win sympathy with our tales of KD dinners, we were talking about the value of investing in education

  • It is disturbing how our parents generation are using our generation as a cash crop instead of investing in our future.

We are the humans that have to live in the sick world that they left us with.

It is time for the youth to stand up and let those who control us know that their time is up.

We are the future, this is our world to save.

  • @stayingunderground Well you poor thing, being exploited instead of having everything handed to you. Welcome to the real world, where no one gives a crap about you except to exploit you for profit. You can be a hunter or you can be the prey. Best you figure it out now, or continue living in "poverty."

  • @daballz89 Thats pretty dumb to say. Your not even making an argument really. The point is that everywhere in Canada has lower tuition rates than Nova Scotia, a province that already has one of the lowest per capita income in Canada. So remember that when some 22 old graduates university 15-20 K in debt. The government can fix this by lower the cap, or, even more simply, providing options for 0 % interest rates in student loans.

  • @ThatAtheistBastard If you look at my other posts my argument is clear. But to respond to your points. The gov't can't just "lower the 'cap,'" there is no said "cap." All the gov't can do is subsidize the tuitions more, or like you said, provide 0% loans. Both cost money, of which there is only a limited amount, and the benefits of spending this money don't exceed the costs. Maybe people in NS should exercise other options, like attending MUN instead of Dal... that will save them 6-8k a year.

  • @stayingunderground: Hey genius, kids your age have been saying the same thing since there have been kids your age. Still, you are so much better off today than young people were 25 years ago, or 50 years ago. You should thank your parents for all you've been given. We can all only hope that your generation does even close to as good a job with the world you will leave to your children.

  • love this video amazing job guys :)

  • I owe 30, 000, its costing me $266 dollars a month for the next like 14 years or something like that,

  • My parents pay my tuition, LOL!

  • @joeschmoe4994 haha you lucky bastard :P. Hope you appreciate that

  • Amazing song, video, and message!

  • I would personally love it if you guys stopped giving this rawededd guy all this unnecessary attention. His opinion is his own, and based on his own personal experience, he has no obligation to be empathetic. Let his girlfriend and friends which I'm SURE he has and has time (and money) for too somehow deal with his attitude, and just enjoy the video and its message. Its not the end of the world if one guy tries to bring everyone else down, but you're only validating it by giving it attention.

    A

  • @rawededd

I'm not the one to be critical and it's great that you can juggle all of that, but many people can't. Also, many people *cough*international students*cough* are paying around double what Canadians are paying. Personally, my bill for this 1 year has totaled over $20,000 not including books. In addition, I was not allowed to apply to work off campus until just recently. I work 40-48 hrs/ week in the summer and do what I can but it still isn't enough...

Please do not wrongly blame us.

  • Thank you SO much for this video and especially for showing the debt of international students as well as Canadian students. Being international myself, I am already very in debt. Savings that have accumulated since my birth are completely gone and I still have three years ahead of me (more if I want to go further than a BSc)! $20,000+ per year just shouldn't happen. Even $10,000 or 15,000 for Canadians is very difficult.

Hopefully with student action like this we can make a difference!!

  • @meganite123 Hey thanks for representing the International Students! The tuition fees for non-Canadian students are bank breaking...

Thanks my friend and please share the video with our international friends!

  • good to see someone is doing something about it! way to go dillon! nice to see you again lol... Des, Richard, Keagan and dillon . this was awsome

  • @xkarleyo Thanks a lot Karley!

  • Way to go dillon .. This video was amazing :)

  • @hailxx Thanks a lot Hailey! Really appreciate it! glad you liked it!

  • haha saw myself

  • @BigGr33ns haha that's awesome! I'm sure you look fantastic lol

  • @rawededd you are just very talented, excellent at managing your time and money, just the type of person i would like to hire when you graduate, except for one lesson you need to learn, EMPATHY for others who may not have the time mangaement skills you have, may need to spend more time studying to get the same marks as you, may have other obligations you are not aware of, dont have the same job opportunitties as you. People are in their situations for a whole host of different reasons

  • @theacemom haha i do not need to learn a lesson on empathy, i worked my ass off to get my job and to keep up my grades, and i have not had an easy life, anyone who can't do the same is lazy.
