  • i remember watching that me and my dad were going to go work in one of the houses niere by when we just saw the tornado form we took pictures but we dident film it, it was crazy hail jut started to come down so hard it broke part of the window it was amazing and my dad was so close to it 2 it was awesome:P

  • this is amazing i couldn't imagine a tornado in such a beautiful place with mountains strange?

  • lol its comeing near ya no sh**

  • Tornadoes are born from severe convective activity such as a supercell thunderstorm or a squall line. It doesn't necessarily matter if it's over water or on land, it's a tornado. A true waterspout doesn't need a severe thunderstorm as a generator. All it needs is a good fair weather cumulus cloud or a shower over warm ocean waters and proper wind conditions to get it spinning up. However, if a waterspout makes landfall, it can do some damage. Mainly EF0 damage, but no more than EF1.

  • thats bad ass

  • what would have all the south park citizens say? cartmen kyle stan kenny etc etc lol

  • Gorgeous tube, good video. Thanks!

  • awesome tornado video, you know about the pine lake tornado in canada, i was camping there when that happened, i was filming it but i dropped my camera in the panic and never saw it again

  • I grew up near 11-Mile and Colorado NEVER had tornadoes. Thanks for getting this oddball on film.

  • This IS amazing when you think about where it formed. Eleven Mile Reservoir has an elevation of about 8600 ft above sea level and near mountains which normally disrupt tornadic storms. Looks like a land (then water) spout, great stuff!!!

  • Thank you!

This event was actually the opposite- water then land. The view from the shot location is about 100'+ above the water, so we're actually above the reservoir. It lasted about 30-45 minutes based upon our picture and footage timestamps. I think the last few minutes it hit land and did a bunch of damage to some campers/campsites.

  • Pretty rare and very cool. Although it's the same principal as what happens on the plains. An air mass get's lifted to 10-14k feet then dropped down a slope to the plains, or in this case a "park", and gets mixed with air masses that have a different density and direction which leads to the occasional huge/twisting thermal updraft.

Looks a lot bigger and scarier with the mountains right there to compare the size.

  • That was Great Footage Thanks Man!

U can see the rotation in the clouds

    very very good!

  • Stan: OMG THEY KILLED KENNY!

    KYLE: YOU BASTARDS!

  • Wow... absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing and glad you were all ok..
