Our cultures are similar but ours is our own, our politics is based on the British system but is also different, our society is similar but is not the same. This flag was never Canada's flag. It was only used on merchant ships. And the maple leaf is better. It looks like it's smiling and that makes me happy :)
Will people please shut up about which is better, the old or the new? The old flag and anthem where replaced for a reason, and if people would take a moment to remember that this anthem and flag represents a time when many of our nations people where considered 2nd class citizens only because they where here first, and that not just the Aboriginals. The anthem made it clear that Canada was for the 17 million English, not the 9 million French, 3 million German or 1.2 million Ukrainian Canadians.
This is the red ensign which was replaced in February 1965 by the current *** maple leaf flag. I don't remember "The Maple Leaf Forever" being used as a national anthem although in elementary school we used to sing it. I haven't heard it for a long time and this is a beautiful rendition. In the early elementary grades we started the class by singing "God Save the Queen", but this changed later to the current "O Canada". It is good to see the old flag again.
Well, as a German (and therefore neutral), I have to say that this anthem IS better than the current Canadian Anthem, and that this flag IS simply more beautiful than the Maple Leaf Flag.

Canada's ties to the Queen and monarchy are purely symbolic. The Canadian government could cut ties with the monarchy instantly with a simple vote in the house.

Canada belongs to the Commonwealth. The French people, as the significant minority of Canada(slightly outnumbered Scottish Canadians), are under grace because the British government took the responsibility of France and has taken care of them for many years. @NYRangers85 Well, it was the symbol of a British colony (derived from the British tradition of having a Union Jack in the corner of shipping ensigns). Having the British flag today, however, is always the choice of the nation for both former and present territories. For example, Gibraltar which is still a British territory, chose to get rid of it. Australia, which is independent, chose to keep it, due to its heritage.
I think Canada's flag the way it is now it's beautiful. It has a beautiful meaning and it's unique in the world. This would just be added to the other bunch of flag swith the Unuion Jack on them (no offence to Australia and New Zealand). Maple leaf does grow in a lot of parts of the world, but Canada has given more use to it than everybody else. Canada is a beautiful country with beautiful history. If Canadians like the maple leaf, let'em be.
I have to admit I like this flag better then the Mape Leaf Flag. It's more colorful and INCLUDES ALL the major nationalities of Canada. Plus, this song sounds more patriotic tells a story rather then O Canada which is kinda bland. @PCdude1995 AS an Anglo-Quebecois I can tell you the 1 thing the Federal Government needs to do to solve the problem with Quebec, have the Constitutional amendment that recognizes Quebec as a Nation within the Dominion (which by the definition of the word Nation we are). It also doesn't make sense when you said that everyone in Quebec knows English, yet the majority speaks French. This flag was never Canada's flag. It was only used on merchant ships. And the maple leaf is better. It looks like it's smiling and that makes me happy :)

Will people please shut up about which is better, the old or the new? The old flag and anthem where replaced for a reason, and if people would take a moment to remember that this anthem and flag represents a time when many of our nations people where considered 2nd class citizens only because they where here first, and that not just the Aboriginals. The anthem made it clear that Canada was for the 17 million English, not the 9 million French, 3 million German or 1.2 million Ukrainian Canadians.

This is the red ensign which was replaced in February 1965 by the current *** maple leaf flag. I don't remember "The Maple Leaf Forever" being used as a national anthem although in elementary school we used to sing it. I haven't heard it for a long time and this is a beautiful rendition. In the early elementary grades we started the class by singing "God Save the Queen", but this changed later to the current "O Canada". It is good to see the old flag again.

Canada belongs to the Commonwealth. The French people, as the significant minority of Canada(slightly outnumbered Scottish Canadians), are under grace because the British government took the responsibility of France and has taken care of them for many years. Having the British flag today, however, is always the choice of the nation for both former and present territories. For example, Gibraltar which is still a British territory, chose to get rid of it. Australia, which is independent, chose to keep it, due to its heritage.

I think Canada's flag the way it is now it's beautiful. It has a beautiful meaning and it's unique in the world. This would just be added to the other bunch of flag swith the Unuion Jack on them (no offence to Australia and New Zealand). Maple leaf does grow in a lot of parts of the world, but Canada has given more use to it than everybody else. Canada is a beautiful country with beautiful history. If Canadians like the maple leaf, let'em be.

I have to admit I like this flag better then the Mape Leaf Flag. It's more colorful and INCLUDES ALL the major nationalities of Canada. Plus, this song sounds more patriotic tells a story rather then O Canada which is kinda bland. Before being called anti-Canadian or Anti-Quebecois, I am of Irish, Scotch, French, English and both my Great Grandmothers were born in Quebec of French decent.

He wrote the work after serving with The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada in the Battle of Ridgeway against the Fenians in 1866. It is not always played with bagpipes.

I am born in Ontario and my mother tongue is English, my parents are immigrants whom both had completed studies and who speak English. We emigrated to Quebec and then they sought for me English education, but the law forbid people like me to go to english school like the other canadian children.

The 1st creation of the province of Quebec was the British colony of the Province of Quebec (1763-1791) and the 2nd creation of the province of Quebec was the Canadian province of Quebec (1867-Present Day). The British Royal authorities abolished slavery in Canada in 1793 (Upper Canada) and in 1803 (Lower Canada). This was 60 years before the Republican Americans abolished slavery in 1863. We didn't "declare independence in 82", we simply brought the BNA act to Canada and altered it to form the 1982 Constitution Act. We already had full autonomy since the 1931 Statute of Westminster. @PCdude1995 AS an Anglo-Quebecois I can tell you the 1 thing the Federal Government needs to do to solve the problem with Quebec, have the Constitutional amendment that recognizes Quebec as a Nation within the Dominion (which by the definition of the word Nation we are). That problem was almost solved, but Trudeau intervened and made thing worst. The French get no special treatment.

And believe me, the English that's spoken here by the French is much better then the French spoken by the rest of you. But remember, we learn English and French, and you learn English and French (or what passes for French), that was part of the deal that created this country. And Quebec is also Majority rule, or did you forget provinces have Assemblies of their own.

It also doesn't make sense when you said that everyone in Quebec knows English, yet the majority speaks French.
