  • dj ralph mcdaniels

  • yupp i had had the single for this when it came out lol remember they use to come in like a paper sleave lol real 90s hip hop right here peace to grand puba peace to original man

  • Rap videos were mad laid back and down to earth back then too. Nowadays rappers in videos are like mad blingged up and sometimes rap how they know "how it be coming up struggling" or they are in a magical club that's super hyped up and everyone moves in slowmo.

  • yo can anyone tell me who sampled this? specifically: "some try to copy but they just can't sketch it"

  • @bazookajoe628 I was just looking for that joint with no luck.. It was by an underground group. I thought for a second it was The Beatnuts.. if u happen to have found it please do share..

  • @bazookajoe628 Doo Wop sampled it. "Bounce Master"

  • this isnt old school, this isnt new school, this is only straight up real school. best rap/hip hop years: 1988 - 2000. fuck todays bitchazzez like lil wayne, 50 cent, souljah boy, and bitchez like 'em.

but peace to the real rapper like ice cube, mc ren, eazy e, n.w.a., spice 1, goodie mob, outkast, 2 pac, p.e., c.m.w., paris, krs one, nice and smooth, gang starr, wu tang, above the law, and a few other cool rapper's, groups and mc's. peace 2 real rap.

    mfg

  • no shit, new york is hip hop.

  • Keep Hip Hop in New York

  • this is the real stuff of stuff this is the real shit its stupid what the radio is airing on these days just plain shit even that drake kid hes shit and they call that hip hop?!! fuck that they can shove thier egos up thier ass! golden era forever

  • this is rap,rap today sucks

  • word

  • rap these days is 70% cRAP

youtube is the place for good hiphop/rap

  • I remember watching rap vidoes in the Early 90's on BET rap city and MTV yo raps! Rap back then kicked ass, before it was taken over by corporations. Rap today is a big JOKE.

  • @ae3rvalles, Its because all these fake ass new school suckas like gay ass shit like weak ass jeezy and soldier boy who cant even spell soldier correctly. I dunno if it's just me, or if south mother fuckers are really that stupid. Everybody I know that went to the south for a while, came back dumb as fuck.

  • i agree with you, but i will say that Jeezy is the best of his profession right now. However, this kinda rap is the best.

  • @ae3rvalles i have to disagree, rap is still alive its just the tv and media is what makes it looks shitty

  • @ae3rvalles epmd, gangstarr rip guru, arrested development, brand nubian, great shit, dont forget tribe called quest, i click on youtube to liberate from me mainstream bullshit on the radio.

  • ..Speaking of 'what goes around' - Ain't it funny how the Ray Ban WayFarer glasses are now back in style? ..not mad one bit.

  • All the old fashion stuff comes back in style. Just a question about time. (Not biblical cloths, of course)

  • Indeed, my friend - I feel like everything goes in circles [fashion/trendwise, especially] - some stuff just works better than others..

  • whats wrong with clothes from jesus' time?

    those threads are fresh!

  • girbauds hanging baggy hilfiger on the top nap sack on my back that just my flavor hops....i could take u on any college campus in nyc when this song was out and show u the uniform.

  • Indeed.

All the so-called 'backpackers' of today better ask somebody.

  • old school is the best thing in the music world!

  • good God, is this considered "oldschool"? I would say this is some Golden Age shit. Old school is like Kurtis Blow or somethin

  • It's always confused.. Old school hip hop and golden age hip hop.

  • He shined in Brand Nubian and Blew up Solo. This kid was hot coming out the gate....

  • brings back high school memoriesin the chi!! classic!

  • Unbelievable....barely over 100,00 views..SAD!!!

  • Breath of fresh air right here man!!!!

    I miss hip hop man!!!!!

  • GP!!!!

  • OKAY OKAY OKAY ...

What more can I say ...

Alamo get the boom and parlay parlay...

    true classic right there!

One 4 All - Brand Nubain!

  • Grand Pu was nice, Brand Nubian was nice though. That one album they had was dope, all the tracks was official.

  • that 2000 album was the joint

  • lol i got that

  • Grand Puba has to be the best MC thats ever lived

Features in probably the best hip Hop group ever aswell - Brand Nubian

  • I totally agree, one of the best lyricists eva. if i don't see him, though, i usually get his voice mixed up with sadat's - they sound soooo similar to me (they complement each other well). jamar was the only one of brand nu that i could always tell who it was spittin.

  • I used to get confused by Puba and Sadat too when the Brand Nubians first came out

  • 3:30-3:35 haha watch the white bitch do her rapmove, man repeat it a few times and it just doesn't look right.

Definitely copied that move from a rapper, or somewhere on the dancefloor.

I love all the dances (1:00-1:20) and clothes in the video, times really have changed.

  • someone please help me? is there a song that uses the "some try to sketch it" line as a sample?

  • @HammaTheVileOne I was just looking for that joint with no luck.. It was by an underground group. I thought for a second it was The Beatnuts.. if u happen to have found it please do share..

  • MOST PEOPLE DON`T UNDERSTAND NYC PIONEER RAPER. you have to live here to understand US. GREAT JAM

  • bc its the definition of old school you dumb mf

  • idiot, new school is the wack shit today. not a 1992 classic ill joint track..

  • I'm not an idiot - I just have another definition of "old school" - the historical definition. Example:

Kool Moe Dee = Old School

    Run DMC = New School

"wack shit today" = No School

  • I would have to disagree on that. I think DMC should be considered old school and maybe A Tribe Called Quest is new school.

  • To make it short - Run DMC brought the drum computer, the aggressiveness and, umm, the guitars... The NEW school.

If you want to call them "old school", alas, do so - I stick to my definition mentioned above.

The next time I hear someone saying, umm, Ice Cube/Kool G/EPMD/Public Enemy... was "old school", I'll be silent just thinking to myself: you be illin'...

  • @EdGulli Well nobody asked you to watch the video! So go back to your industrial crap!

  • I didn't say anything against Puba and my long-time love for 70ies - mid-90ies rap is a love that will last forever.

But intelligent YouTube users are scarce, the site reflects the stupidity of the world.

  • top 10 rappers on my list

  • whoever posted this, no you didn't!!!!!!! I love it.

  • Puba is one of the best in the game. Makes me wanna go back to the 2G and get that hip hop feel back that i used to have.

  • Oh you best believe. That was my dress code. Rolling through the Vill in manhattan, in the jeep with the top off. Damn, those were the days.

  • don't forget polo, but those white owned companies got rich of poor niggas who really couldn't afford that shit.

  • i love that song thanks for posting1

  • Puba came off the dome 90 percent of the time. I doubt any of today's "Lil's", "Young's" Weezys or Jeezys could..

  • puba!!! the greates MC ever!!!! long live puba!!! lol.

  • Grand Puba was one of my favorite personalities. He would be Hilfiger down while at the same time be like "Fuck the white man. The white man is a devil. You know he was on that Islamic shit. If you came up in that era, it was all about Hilfiger and Polo. In fact I called the 90s the Hilfiger and Polo Era.

  • I was born in Sicily. No one in my family has ever been involed with slavery. Dont hate white hate the low life decendents of the slave owners. There are some whites that have no beef with blacks out there. Look at white people with your brain not your eyes.

  • I think you misunderstood my comment. It's not my personal feelings, but how he (Grand Puba)really was back then. He was on that Islamic shit,5 Percenter if you want to call it that. I am not at all a racist. Some of my closest friends are white and other racist as well. Take a second look at my comment and see if your interpretation would be the same.

  • There's another version of this track that I haven't heard for years. It's the better version IMO.

  • hip hop was tha shit back then ... there are some really good mc's doing the back pack shit now ... but back then it was on

  • I love this era of Hip Hop/Rap. It reminds me of my high school days!!! This is a long gone era!

  • ahhhh, the skinny Grand Puba

  • one of the forgotten lyrical warriors!

  • Hes the one that got me wearing ralph lauren polo to this very day

  • although he was on the tommy hilfiger tip in this video, i remember all those shirts hes wearing. I think tommy played him and he went back to rockin' polo

  • memories!

  • Grand Puba Never Die !!

  • MF Doom homies

  • yeah Mount Vernon.. They had the nice little rap back in the day.

  • this shit is fire..........

  • My favorite Puba song.

  • hip hop was lovely back then and those african american college alliance sweatshirts we all had one (sigh) those was the good ol days. and dancing was dancing I don't know what some of these new dancing is about.

  • this was the shit

  • man can somebody put up his hardest song licc shots, that shit is just pure ill yell

  • remember puba when he was part of masters of ceremony? thats going way back. he always had a sick flow.

  • i remember that. They were hot. He's been in the game for a minute. Nuff respect due.

  • if this is the golden age of hip hop,i lived it i can cash in, IIIIIIIIIII'm rich!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Easy Back it Up!

  • Big UUUUps fo havin the Good StUUUUff

    Grand PUUUUba.

nah im buggin but this joint is nice!

  • His flow was pretty impressive for era.

  • yeah Puba is sick on the mic. the brother said ONLY TWO PEOPLE CAN SEE ME AND THAT'S RAY CHARLES AND STEVIE!! wow...cant front on that one.

  • aint nothin like the old skool

  • This ain't old school man, it's token golden age.

  • I don't understand why Puba's never mentioned in top EmCee's list dude flow was Sick!

  • True! People try to overthink the whole "best emcee" thing. Puba is definitly one of the best...ever! I guess he was having too much fun for some people to be taken seriously, however he had quite a few concious and deep verses on Brand Nubian's 1st album. Those who know, know whats up with Puba!

  • this was the shit

  • kick it puba

  • Nice video, straight back to the year 92

  • here comes the puba and you know i won't fake it. c'mon.

  • Hilfiger owe Puba a royalty check!!

  • lol girbaud too!

  • F*ck STRICTLYHOTTIES, Afrointroductions . COM for women of African descent everyday all day.....

  • I always liked Puba, but always thought his style was somewhat influenced by Chubb Rock (a legend!).

Regardless, this is awesome, golden age hip hop from my college years.

  • If I'm not mistaken, were'nt they both brought up in a West Indian family?

  • chubb rock wasn't on pubas level! 5%

  • Pubah was heavy on the "lo" gear

  • tommy hilfiger !

  • Funny watchin' these old skool videos...dis was the fun times in Hip Hiop. Whish we sould bring 'em back!

  • thank u paradigmshift 302 4 posting dis vid......puba,sadat x,phife, raekwon has to be some of da coolest kats in da game.

  • Another real rapper that didn't get the props he deserved.

  • one of the best joint ever hands down

  • Love the Gladys Knight sample!

  • This is a true hip hop classic. Stay up Puba

  • BIG-UPs to TackyD.yo thatz so true.Puba put Hilfiger on the map & Hilfiger didnt want to pay him to model his stuff.Thatz why on his 2nd album Puba was like "cuz I ain't tryna hear it..now if Tommy don't give me loot I'll be the F#ck if I wear it"!

  • genial el tema....clasico del rap.....

  • has anyone seen it when puba did this song live on MTV raps???That shit was classic because performed it before the video came out

  • Puba was ahead of his time.... He would be a superstar if he emerged in todays game... He was so unique...but in his earliest days I thought he was on Slick Rick's dick(before brand nubian)....Both are Two of my all time favorites.

  • goose* vests

  • HI TEKS, FATIGUES, GOOST VESTS AND FADES!!!!

shiiiiit i still kept the steelo...Jersey where we at?!?

  • those was the days when i dressed harder than boys, and couldnt mess with a dude if his jeans were tighter than mine so they betta been falling off his ass

  • No doubt. Karl Kani jeans and all that..

  • yep

  • not only the tommy hill joints...polo boots!?!?!?

yea....not timbs "lo boots"...wow those were tha days!

Gran Puba and Kane shoulda battled on who was the biggest pimp!

  • Polo Boots... Oh boy... Back then you had the Hustlers arguing about which ones were better - Timbs or Lo Boots... The Lo Boots looked sharp (*they looked oh so good with a Polo Rugby Shirt and Girbaud Jeans) but they didn't keep your feet warm tho', and that was a problem if you doing the "hand to hand" and were on the block throughout the night in the winter...

  • his style is his own.

he's been like this since the early 80's

  • hell yeah, no emcee today can touch him.

    DJ TEE

  • copy copy copy copy copy.. hell yeah clasiko

  • Grand Puba Maxwell

maybe not the greatest mc, but certainly the coolest mc EVEr. He's like the fonz of rap.

  • hey man do you have an Yo live verdion from that music is so good too hanks for positng that one too!

  • Puba got me wearing Polos and Tommy Hill those days... LOL Fun Times!!! "Sorry I left you....

  • Yeah, he started the Hilfiger craze!

  • Hilfiger "OWES" Puba for putting him on the map... In my opinion if Puba didn't "big-up" Hilfiger and wear his stuff he (Hilfiger) wouldn't have been "in style" or as near as fashionable as it became at the time...

  • dumb motherfucker how about wu tang on the raekwon album he was saying hilfiger all throughout it bitch,

  • I'm not into the back and forth thing but, Cocksucker, Puba's album (Reel to Reel) came out in '92 and Raekwon's (Only Built 4 Cuban Linx) came out in '95... Do a little research first before you be all on here talking crazy and sounding stupid you dumb bastard...

  • Grand Pu - One of the most underrated MC's of all time

  • I want to post this on myspace how do I get the embeddded codes?
