This inspired me to go farm the little blighter myself.

Being Horde it dropped after about two and a half hours of killing the same 10-12 mobs using a fishing rod (which made sure that I always had something to kill rather than standing about waiting for spawns).

It is a very cute pet indeed.

Its a rare mob in Storm Peaks or Zul'Drak (not sure with one)

A lot of hunters used it in Uld and ToC times coz it did some nice extra dps. Dunno if its that good in rading in ICC

It's really not that hard to get for horde. I had a friend that wanted it, so I farmed it for him, and it only took an hour, and a few kills after getting his, I got one for myself!

@PriestessRawrbug why do you need mats or quest lines or any of that stuff, when I got mine on Horde I just hopped down to Feralas and killed them until 1 dropped. Is Alliance different?

@slackersly to the alliance, all the hatchlings are friendly, therefore we cannot kill for drop rates. i personally cannot stand farming for low drop rate items, so the quest line, as long as it may be, kept me more entertained. =) for the horde, of course, farming the hatchlings is the only choice.

i think you can get the sprite darter from a quest in feralas, i got it on my orc shaman around 45, but it might have just been a drop, not sure.

Oh and don't go by the drop rate on Wowhead.com. They didn't reset the number of kills when they added the pet to their drop table. The real rate is much better than that.
