It's appalling how underrated this game is. I almost BROKE UP with my ex-bf (go figure) because his lame-ass didn't like this game. This will always be in my all time top 5 favorite games in the universe--and it was my first intro to the series. Awesome battles, complex yet awesome characters, intricate storyline, perfect soundtrack--what more do you need in a masterpiece? Yes, FF7 is amazing, but on my death bed I will remember this game. It is simply perfection. I love you FF8!!! *tear*

I can't read that in good conscience without mentioning 'Dancing Mad.' The final boss theme of FF6. Uematsu use the same technique (awesome happy piano/harpsichord/organ/whatev­er followed by sinister badassness).
