I liked the pastors sermon if you want to call it that, he came right out & made it plan that the words between friends are private. It is one thing if you ask your friends prior, so there is no ill will/conflict between friends/townspeople.
I never liked Dorothy. At all. she always was annoying, and only concerned about herself, and i ESPECIALLY didn't like the thing that went on between her and Cloud Dancing.
@eddiehatred yeah! my mom didnt like her at all. she didn't like her at first, but she REALLY didn't like her when she got together with cloud dancing. and she had the most annoying way of talking. she never said the 'g' sound in cloud dancing. just 'Cloud Dancin' annoyed me SOOOOO much.
If I were Michaela when Dorothy said, "So, What do I do, stop writting?" I would have said, yes, if that's what it takes for you to not publish my secrets for all to see.
@caitlina90 I know. I wish the series would just let her break off instead of pretending she is a really good person because she just isn't. At least she hasn't ever really demonstrated that she is. Her writing that book was basically selfish- she admitted as much. It made her feel important. It was wrong, wrong, wrong to publicize information that was shared in confidence just to give her ego a boost. I dont mean to be nasty but she is too often foolish, dense and short sighted.
I think I just like Preston because the guy that plays him also played Custer who I absolutely hated, so I guess I am just happy he is playing a better guy now. He looks better and has a nice smile, unlike Custer and I also like his voice more now! All he wants is just more business and money, but that is better than anything with Custer!
aww...loren is so cute and funny...poor guy, i would have at least written about how he usually always came to his senses and did the right thing, even though he's an old grump. lol - i dont think it was wrong of dorthy to write all those things - i think she should have changed the names though.. that wouldve saved a lot of grief.
Okay Dorothy what you wrote about Michaela would be the equivalent of Micheala publishing in a medical journal with the details of your operation to fight cancer and calling you out by name rather than patient x.
omg... dorothy wnet a bit ott on the whole " we were never really friends"... hello michaela risked the wrath of her mother to let dorothy be her matron of honur again i say DUH!
How does Dorothy not understand how it could hurt someone? I see both sides of the argument, but she isn't even trying to understand how the other people feel.
The only thing she shouldn't have included at all was the stuff about Dr. Mike...especially since she doesn't trust many people and has a hard enough time prooving herself...if she was gonna write about her it should have been about all the "heroic" things she did, not about her personal(extremely personal) life.
But Dorothy couldn't exclude Dr Mike from the book...then she would have been pissed off that she was excluded. And you don't exclude Dr Mike from anything without getting an earfull. Besides, I didn't hear anything in that book that wasn't public knowledge anyway so I don't see what everyone's so upset about.
yea well public knowledge in a small town is different from public knowledge nationwide if you know what I mean....with Dr.Mike Im sure she wud have been pissed off if she were excluded but some things shouldn't be shared so publicly...she shud have been included...just in a different way... its not like i have literally read the book so there is no way of knowing for sure whether everything was appropriate lol
True, but the nation doesn't know any of these people personally so I don't see what difference it makes. Maybe I'm just an open person and the type who doesn't see a reason things shouldn't be public knowledge. It may be embarrassing at the time but it's not like it effects my life if someone else knows some lil detail about me....Besides, others generally feel closer to me afterwards. And I would SOOO read this book LOL sounds like a real page turner.
Well I guess everyone has their own opinion on the subject (and thats probably something Dorothy should have considered) But haha yea I'd read it too if they made it real!
The difference is exactly what Horace said. Books are like gossip, they last a very long time. His daughter will read about her mothers past. No matter where they moved there would be fear of that being public knowledge.
Tell me you wouldn't want to read a book like this about your great-great-grandmother/father. I sure would. I don't live in a society that would judge me based on that. I'm possibly related to Mattie Blaylock and I'm PROUD of it!! Even though she died of an OD and used to be a whore. But how would I know that unless people like Dorothy wrote books like the one she did? Even if it was my parents, they'd be in a book people could read for generations to come.
so sad.. they're both not really careful with what they say...they should be calmer and give each other a chance to tell her reasons and her stories and then calmly discuss about what's wrong or not with the book. (but unfortunately, most women terrible cats XD)
Dorothy should not have wrote about the private things, she could've got her points across some other way. I know she had good intentions but she went about it the wrong way.
I think Dorothy went writting her book a little the wrong way. Yeah, she has the right the write as she wishes but still I she Dr. Mike's point about how somethings are private and should remain so. I think what Dorothy should have done was gone to everyone and told them you know, this what I am saying and writing about you do you feel comfortable if I put this in...sounds simple to me,she could have wrote her book the way she wanted and not offended anyone.
It's not the first time that Dorothy has betrayed Dr. Mike's trust (writing about the Reverend's proposal to Dr. Mike in the gazette is one example), so I'm not surprised. And it is frustrating to me that Dorothy thinks it is alright to reveal people's secrets. Reporting the truth (as in telling people the truth about current events) isn't the same as writing about people's personal lives, and she can't seem to understand that. I also agree that she needs to use her own imagination to write.
@z1dana I agree completely, now what kind of a friend tells all your secrets? Now if I was writing a book about a town, which was an awesome idea for Dorothy, I would have asked them if I could write about those secrets before writing them, or write it, but not publish it until each person who was in the book has read it and okayed it to be published. I would have given them a choice of it being published instead of just publishing it.
i can't believe that Dorothy can't understand Dr. Mike's side. Dorothy has the right to write, but private things should be private. I would hate it if my best friend would write the private stuff about me.
I agree. Even nowadays, it's common knowledge that happens "in the bedroom" is extremely private. There are just some things that aren't open for public knowledge, and a person's sex life is one of them. I expect this would've been even more the case in 1870, when sex was a "taboo" subject. I can't understand why Dorothy can't grasp that.
I agree, and it annoys me so much Dorothy acts like she is the victim, and treats Dr Quinn like that! "So I shouldn't write anymore?" You can write all you want, just not about them! If she doesn't have enough imagination to write a book without writing all your friends' secrets, then she is not made to be a writer!
Sometimes I just really can not stand Dorothy! Or maybe it's the actress, not her I don't know how she is in real life, but the way she plays this role.
She should've used different names...

This is one of the reasons why we have to sign waivers now. She should have given fake names.

It all could have been avoided if Dorothy had just asked permission first. The problem with that is.... none of them would have given it.
