This game is called Crysis, its only avaliable on PC (and you need a really really really really really good one if you want to play this game properly without it lagging or your PC overheating). But lucky for you Crysis 2 is coming out on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. And the graphic on the console for crysis 2, are just as good as the crysis 1 on PC. (PC graphics own all).

Yeah, it was way ahead of its time. I mean, look at the date of this video.

The game came out in November of 2007. Almost TWO YEARS AGO. These graphics could only be done on PC, and even then most PCs couldn't run it. So the sales took a big hit. There were no big multiplatform sales, and even the platform it was available on had an audience limited by tech.

To this day no game has surpassed it in graphics. I think Killzone 2 on PS3 has come the closest, in my opinion.

No. I have played all of the games you mentioned Luke, at their best. Watching a YouTube video does not reveal the full quality of the graphics in Crysis, not even close.

When you play Crysis at a high resolution and high framerate at max settings, you are still looking at the best looking game out there. Even though it came out in 2007.

I played Gears of War 1 and 2 from beginning to end on a 1080p HDTV. Same with Call of Duty 4 and 5, and Batman. Crysis is easily better visually.

However, Crysis is another story altogether. The developers have stated that it can not function on the 360 or PS3 without changing the game significantly. It's just too demanding.

However, they have built a new engine, a scaled down version of the engine in this video, called CryEngine 3. That is what will be used to build Crytek games on 360 and PS3 in the future.

It looks to be an enhanced PC 'Low' setting in the Cryengine 3 tech demo. No volumetric clouds or HDR lighting it seems.

I can.  The sharks are just a "barrier" in the game, like the warships out further in the ocean. Crytek said, "Ok, these sharks have to kill the player if they mess around too long, or try to go too far."

And so it is. :-)

No. Artistically, it's a matter of opinion. TECHNICALLY it's not. There are plenty of games with better art direction than Crysis, but arguably none that compete on the technical side (one could argue for Killzone 2 here).

Having said that, I agree with your other point. Gameplay is far more important than graphics. That's why I loved Crysis, but I thought Warhead was just average. Both looked amazing, but Crysis was more fun to play IMO.
