  • That's weird - I'm going to tinker with it today - if it runs smoother with the point casing OFF then I'm going to jimmy rig a new casing that minimizes any chance of the points wires grounding. I HOPE it's that - because that's a super-easy fix. I'd rather not start messing with the timing itself - or have to replace it all. That would have to wait till payday - & I want my RPM's back before then...

I'll keep you updated. Thanks for your reply! Your videos are awesome! Thanx 4 posting them!

  • My points wiring on the ignition timing were grounding on the casing cover. When I took the casing cover off it ran perfect (on both cylinders) - when I put the cover on again it only ran on one cylinder... So I figured it was grounding - covered the casing cover with electrical tape and it ran perfect again!

Now (2-days later...) it's starting to splutter and misfire when it gets about 7000 RPM - normally it just shoots up to 9000 RPM clean and fast.

    I'm wondering WTF happened...

  • @pabstabilly mine does the same thing - I noticed it driving home from RockerBox back in august - I'd get to 70MPH/7,000RPM with room on the throttle, but if I gave it any more gas the engine would start making strange chopping/choking noises and decelerate - not backfiring and sputtering but it just sounded like it was trying hard and not doing well - since I replaced points and set timing, I see the same behavior when I get to 7,000RPM but now I'm closer to 80MPH at that RPM
