Mahalo nui loa for the lyrics. I have been looking around for Amy's version of Ke Kali Nei Au. I cannot find it but did find a version of it by Makaha Sons. Now that I have the lyrics I can hula this for my beloved. Once again mahalo.
My wife and I were married in Honolulu in 1970 while I was on R&R. This song was sung to us on our wedding night at the Barefoot bar. Now that she's gone, the song brings back such wonderful memories.
Superb singers and music... pity that the video format is not correct. Tried with &fmt=18 or &fmt=22 ,but could not get the correct video size..tks for posting anyway...
If i get stationed in Hawaii, I would probably take this route to be a great wedding set up for me and my future wife lol if i get to that point but at the rate im going to defend the US soon... ummm maybe not....
No offense whatsoever and I know it's probably something I will never understand, but I wanna know what the U.S soldiers think they are protecting the US from?
The Hawaiin Islands are a very strategic location in and of themselves. But it is also a staging point for trrops there to deploy if needing to Australia, Korea, Japan, etc.
Thank you "teriimataha" for this posting. I have the tape of this show. Amy Hanaialii Gilliom is one of my favorite Hawaiian singers. The dancing was beautiful.
I was at the international market in Wakiki and met a girl that looked like this wahine dancer..she asked me for a light,,my freaking lighter failed to light, just then this jerk jumped in and lit her smoke..she still smiled and thanked me anyway..she had the greatest smile and a figure to go with her smile..
Besides my grandmother's version, this is by far the prettiest version of the song I have ever heard. It really reminded me of my granparents....brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for posting this!
I am looking for a dancer to perform this dance at my reception for my husband. If anyone knows someone in the Los Angeles area please email me. Thanks, Kiele
Baby, I Think your Husband to be would like it even more if you would learn it and dance it for Him Yourself, Check out Hula Halau O Kamuela Elua Uncle Kunewa Mook He could probably teach you the Dance, When it comes from the one you love it Has more Mana (Power) O ka Uhane of the spirit. Aloha and Good Luck!
Does the dancer have a video of this dance or other dances I can purchase. I am putting together a Hawaiian Wedding Shower and would love a video of the Hawaiian Weddig Dance for the bride to learn the dance to and also other dances we can put together for the shower. Would love a reply as soon as possible
Sorry, that was just me cheering her on :) What I meant to say is, Radasha is a personal friend and an AMAZING dancer. She has that presence on stage that puts a smile on your face. I also love the way the song was performed (by Amy Hanaiali'i Gillom and Willie K).
I got this Dvd at home!! there are many more nice songs and even the Master of Ukulele (jake Shimobukuro) is playing with the Makaha sons..it's the best hawaiian dvd I've ever seen!!
OMG ! chicken skins...
