  • Hi

I had the luck to do several recordings with Art here in Vienna Austria-where he also lived with his family.

Just take a look into the video I made with Art, while beeing in the Studio with me for a recording with my group HYPERSAX

    Look it up under

    You Tube

    HYPERSAX

you´ll find several films about HYPERSAX and one with Art Farmer

filmed in Vienna, in the studio, while warming up,you also hear the track that he played on the recording.

    see you

  • art farmer is a legend.. he broke the jazz laws.. :)

  • Art Farmer was an amazing player. I am fortunate to have seen him during his many trips to The Jazz Showcase in Chicago. What a great musician!! Thanks for posting.

  • Art Farmer, a wonderful musician and a beautiful person too. I met him in 1996 in Barcelona (Jamboree Club).

  • By the way, who's playing with him? The pianist reminds me of Jacob Fred, but I could be mistaken.

  • great playing

  • Okay, just for the rec, this is a FLUMPET.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I was a fan of the Jazztet and caught them at Birdland in 1961 on a Firday Nt when Symphony Sid was braodcasting.I was sitting in the section in the top of the old room which was probably set aside for people like me at sixteen. Sid brought on the tune "Killer Joe" with "The children are calling for Killer Joe". Jazz is live , the moment , not contrived and what you see is what you get , real life.Keep you eye upon the donut and not upon the hole.

  • what a weird trumpet

  • thats a flumpet

  • is he useing a mouth peace?

  • look at monette trumpets - you'll find out. ;)

  • The "problem" with a live Jazz recording is that either the performer compromises creatively to ensure he sounds "perfect" or he just spontaneously creates with the inevitable odd fluff or split note. Surely a live Jazz recording is none the worse for the "warts and all" present in almost any performance you will ever hear? I speak from considerable experience as a live performance and session recording jazz trumpet/flugel player.

  • lol

  • man thats a cool trumpet

  • This is good jazz, I love the good stuff like this.

  • Then you don't listen to the great jazz master drummers.

  • the drummer is amazing along with the trumpet

  • flumpet

  • i wish i could play as amazing as him.... 4 more years to go haha

  • Fuck you.

His style is unique enough that he can play already composed tunes and make it sound original.

  • Well, he does to my ear anyway have sometimes a farting unquality to some of his notes...but I do love his playing style.

It's the unclear tone of those farty notes that make the REMAINDER of his notes sound really really good, the runs he does... man, love his style.

    dont hayt im jus sayin

  • well, actually this unquality is common for trumpeters who play in this "froggy" way and are old - check dizzy gillespie.

  • oh alright. Fine to say it that way. I wouldnt insult someone who has fans in a rude way in the future lol.

I never honestly liked Miles Davis.

  • oh ok

  • Whos the drumer??

  • I Think he is Alvin Queen.
