Kenya is a much better team than Bangladesh..But I don't know why ICC is not giving them a chance to play Test cricket..They gave Bangladesh Test status for only 1 victory against Pakistan but look at the Kenyans they have defeated many teams and on different occasions..They hv beaten India twice,West Indies,Zimbabwe,Sri Lanka,Bangladesh & once they almost defeated the champions Australia in 2002 at Nairobi also qualified for the Semis of the W-Cup 2003..What else they have to do ??
before match west indies team was busy for shooting kingfisher beer publicity ... maurice adumbe request brian lara for autograph but lara did nt give !! and after match maurice adumbe was man of the match
hahaha......this was a great upset in the 96 world cup....i had not seen this match & my brother told me that kenya defeated windies....i believed him blindly & after sometime he ridiculed me sayin that how can kenya defeat windies & made fun of me for believin what he said....when we caught up with the highlights later,it turned out that kenya had really defeted windies & my brother went into a state of shock bcoz the windies were really strong those days & a loss against kenya was unbelievable
love the way the Indian fans start genuinely cheering the Kenyans (and booing the Windies) the moment they see the Kenyans are fighting. Spirit of cricket.
Great to see Keyna in there prime, shame there cricket board and the whole country is in turmoil at the mo, they had a talented side with the like's of Suji and Tikolo, who averages over 50 in first class cricket, quite amazing.
i justa cant understand why kenya is not having test status although they were semi finalist of 2003 world cup and have beaten so many big teams such as srilanka india westindies and others
Actually not quite, in the 03 world cup they had beaten sri lanka, bangladesh, canada and new zealand (by forfeit). Then beat Zimbabwe in the super 6. Now did they make the semis because of technicalities or just by them playing a game of cricket.
Willdunn12: I blame the ICC for quite literally abandoning Kenya post 2003. What were they expecting if they could only manage to get them 4 ODI matches in the three years that followed
no pakistan were 1, australia were 2 sri lanka 3 and west indies were 4th in that tournament still a unbelivable giant killing as west indies are x2 world champions but they were inconsectant going into that tournament.
Tariq Iqbal's claim to eternal fame was the catch that dismissed Brian Lara at Pune in March 1996, as Kenya produced a scarcely credible victory over West Indies. he had dropped so many deliveries and conceded so many byes that his own fielders had resorted to laughter rather than fury. Lara, in a curiously frenzied assault, launched into a back-foot smear and Iqbal somehow clung onto a thick edge the gloves clutched desperately, trying to locate it.
Yeah it's a real shame. At the time I was saying that it was just a matter of time before Kenya got Test Status. But unformtunatly I think they're a long way off that
Another excellent performance from Kenya sportsmen, shame they dont get the International exposure and more Experience!. Tikolo excellent! world class player!
This was one of the most extraordinary games that Kenya has ever played. It would be great to see them perform like this again. I eagerly look forward to it!

If we have more of this happening cricket can become a genuine world sport and the ODI format is popular.

It wasn't helped by the fact that Kenya's Cricket board had a heap of infighting and couldn't their act together.
It's a shame becuase I thought Kenya were going to get Test Status before Bangladesh did.
