  • Wow Im surprised how broad tourettes is, I thought it was just the loud swearing, but not something as small as a sound of a sneeze.

  • I'm sorry but people with tourettes are fucking insane. They say things that "go through their head". Well if these racist, horrible things are going through their head, they are crazy.

  • @ObamaIsMaBabyDaddy What you're talking about is Coprolalia. Not everyone with Tourettes has this form of TS. Everyone has had thoughts that should probably not be spoken. The difference is that those with Coprolalia cannot help but to let those thoughts surface vocally. Please understand that there are various forms of TS. Some are more subtle than others. It's the vocal minority (those with Coprolalia) and not the other 85% with TS that we hear about all of the time .

  • Can tourettes fall under OCD in anyway?

  • @bowlofarthritus TS and OCD can be present in the same person and it's kind of common to have both. Jacob has both. He is 13 now and while he still has tics OCD behaviors, he has more 'control' over them than he use to he tells us.

  • they said i dont have tourettes but what do you think i chatter my teeth and shiver and studder and bite my lips and i dont know iam doing it and i have some more tics that come and go

  • @goose95able TS is defined as a subject having both audial and motor tics for 6 months or more. There are other conditions that may cause this I suppose. Staying in close contact with your doctor is a good idea. Thank you for commenting.

  • I have tourettes and it really is a struggle sometimes, but i am just like everyone else. People should just treat us like everyone else. I have gained so much confidence because of tourettes, and i am a stronger person because of it. I am glad i have it, because it has taught me to never judge others and always be kind. Kids with tourettes are awesome:)

  • @ccjoey Im 37, i had it since i was 5, i got jumped a couple of times, i got my tooth knocked out and picked on through school but LItsten, it has its great points, your senses our enhanced, your energy, and other things, you get stronger every year that goes by. Trust me..you cant worry about what anybody thinks about ya.

  • i have tourettes... the amount of islolation and ridicule i have gone through had completely shattered by self confidentce, but i have learned to accept it, and move on

  • My partner has tourette's and experiences all these external symptoms you have mentioned. It is horrible and he does feel down from time to time and looks at himself as a freak....but when I look at him or I'm with him I think how perfect he is and what a wonderful, thoughtful, loving beautiful person God has gifted me and how blessed I am to have him in my life. I believe tourette's has made him a stronger and more thoughtful person and I love him regardless.

  • I have terrible tics and some days i wake up and cant hold anything or i need to go home and people can just make you feel terrible i also have ocd and people arnt kind and bully well people try to moke u but i leard in 6th grade u need to put up with any crap your giving

  • I ADMIRE THIS YOUNG MAN FOR HAVING THE COURAGE TO GO ON A T.V. SHOW AND SHARING WITH OTHERS HIS CONDITION! I HOPE YOU WILL BE TREATED WITH KINDNESS AND RESPECT THROUGHOUT THE REST OF YOUR LONG LIFE! TAKE CARE AND ALWAYS HOLD YOUR HEAD UP!

  • attention turnyourbrainon2. i am 20 years old, i have tourettes syndrom, and i am normal. so shut the hell up.

  • I have the exact same tic! But after I do it for a while, it starts to hurt my side.

  • i dont have torrets but i have something called a motor tic tht is movement of the body my arms go jereking and moving in the air

  • They were right. God Bless You :)

  • Man, he's so strong for his age, when i got diagnosed with tourettes at around his age, prior having it before that, but did not know what it was, i was so scared of everyone, so nervous, Drs first thought it was a rare from of epilepsy, but obvi it was not, now i am 16 and a half, and yes it bothers the shit out of me at times, but man, ive had girlfriends thru highschool, no learning problems ride moto's, play footy, and joining the army once 17... i still wish i did not have it, its me.

  • i hat it

  • i love this tourettes is something id love to work with like to me it really is nothing its just background but it doesnt make them who they are its only a part of them

  • Compulsive disordors are horrible, it makes you feel so isolated... like your some kind of freak, people always stare.

  • @FOOFlGHTERS Thanks for taking the time to reply. Like a lot of his friends with TS, Jacob teaches us about love and tolerance nearly everyday.

  • Stupid stereotypes.

  • i didnt know ts had different versions, i mean like, he is sneezing or something, i thought it was just swearing

  • I have Tourettes and people tend to make fun of me in school, but my Best Friends, always back me up. Tourettes is NOT something to make fun of, and they have a medicine called O-Rap, I take it but it doesn't work very well, hopefully they DO find a way to get away Tourettes

  • Hey my names Preston I have Tourettes and am looking for people to chat with who has it. msg me or send a comment thanks

  • It was just yesterday that I finally acknowleged that my 10 yr old has Tourettes. I had been in denial for the last 2 yrs. I spent most of the day yesterday bawling my eyes out. 3 yrs ago, I watched the HBO special on Tourettes which I found very educational and made me more compassionate toward those who have it. My main thought while watching the program is "Thank God we don't have to deal with that sort of thing". But suddenly here I am having to deal with it. TY for the video.

  • Jacob is a boss ;)

  • Atleast its not bad swears hes shouting

  • this makes me worry about becoming a parent, i'll make sure i marry into a family of doctors hopefully haha, so is there no cure yet?

  • @respontaneous Parenthood is the most challenging and rewarding job there is on the planet. It's one of the few jobs that has no handbook either to tell you if you're "doing it right". Trust your heart and know that through love we can accomplish anything. Yes...really. :) No 'cure' for TS...yet.

  • @warner13 well i'd love to have kids, but im definetly not ready yet, i don't think i could cope yet, but when it happens i'll do my best for my kid(s). keep up the good work

  • @warner13 We dont need a cure im happy just the way i am in my eyes its the normal people who seem the most broken

  • i try to help but i never get time to i want to but its hard.. i respect jacob i know some people wit tourettes and they get made fun of i cant stand it when tht happenes they are normal people jus like us whats the deal wit people making fun of them... i help as much as i can..

  • In all fairness... I have TS and I hope that one day kids with TS can feel accepted enough that they can move past having it. What I mean is what the oversensitivity doesn't get in the way of friends poking harmless fun. Tourettes is more awkward then funny but I can think of multiple occasions that I turned it into humorous situations which made it fair game for my friends haha.

  • You have a very adorable son and it's great that he can go through life with a smile.

  • God bless you! (Not for your sneezing-like sounds!)

  • Mad props for that kid!

  • just a normal kid, yeah there's something wrong with him, he has tourettes, but arent we all like him, there's also something wrong with every single person, it maybe be something small or big, could be in appearance or the way we move.it may appear on the surface or be hidden. its all the same

  • I have tourettes and I cant believe that people are ignorant enough to find this funny. I was diagnosed when I was 5 and have had to deal with this for 11 years now. My tics were so bad that there was a point where I couldn't walk because my muscles were so sore. You may see people with tourettes and decide to laugh, but just remember that they dont find it very amusing and are probably struggling.

  • his tic is pretty normal compared to a lot of other peoples tics.

  • Very sweet boy and God Bless him for being him.

  • Cute kid

  • Hello, I have tourettes, which is quite sevier, If you interested in what i do just reply on this and ill send you a nice long list ;).... But what i first wanted to say was,, i think is so much harder to have tourettes in the UK, only for the facts that, we dont have camps and stuff here, were we can meet and talk to other people who has it, the teachers at my school, are not understandable to anything that i do. But anyway good luck dude

  • thats a cute noise!!

  • thats a cute noise!!

  • wow what a very handsome and polite young man....i must say that with his little strength i am posative that he will get over this with ease.....GO JACOB !!!!!!!!!!

  • wow what a very handsome and polite young man....i must say that with his little strength i am posative that he will get over this with ease.....GO JACOB !!!!!!!!!!

  • What a brave kid! My respect to him!

  • if I could go back in time to the day of my birth and "turn the Tourette's off," I wouldn't. It's great to see a kid with a good head on his shoulders; Jacob seems to be ahead of the curve in terms of maturity and self-understanding, at least ahead of where I was at that age, and I don't doubt that someday, he too will look into himself and realize that while what he has is a disorder, it's also a blessing. Watching this video makes me proud. I wish you and your family the best of luck.

  • Thanks for sharing this video. I have Tourette's, which started when I was about Jacob's age. I remember "please stop," which gave way to understanding and acceptance (as well as misunderstanding and intolerance, and a slew of pharmaceuticals that ultimately did more harm than good). TS was a negative force in my life that I learned to deal with. But as I became an adult I began to realize that my experiences with TS had bettered me by making me a more tolerant, understanding person, and that

  • There was a guy who shopped at the same grocery store I did, who kept dropping the n-word when I walked by. Once I figured out he had tourrettes, and couldn't control it, that was it. Raising awareness is key; but despite objection to how Tourrettes is portrayed in media, it does at least raise some awareness. I first heard about it from the Simpson's episode that was later edited. People shouting cuss words is funny, but stops being so when you learn how the disorder affects their lives.

  • he is cute!

  • This is an apology to the person I knew in Junior high with tourett's. I'm certain my reaction would have been totally different had I knew thirty years ago what I know now. I'm sorry. I most humbly ask for your forgiveness.

  • @kdavidkdr will he see it here ? write him

  • @kdavidkdr why don't you say it to them

  • Pretty chill kid for someone with tourettes

  • ngkking wrote: "Pretty chill kid for someone with tourettes".

Thanks for the support (I think). Please understand that Jacob and other kids and adults with TS are as chill as the next person. Because their challenge of TS is sometimes on the surface, some people often think "differently" about them. Don't. Our message like theirs is to educate everyone on the subject. We like to build bridges and not walls. :) Thanks again. -Warner

  • you know what i just find great. The kid has full support. I can imagine that means a great deal to him, contrary to parents who 'abandon' him because he is different or something similar like that. But honestly speaking, I do not think his condition is that bad. All the best though!

  • Stay strong Jake. Try growing up in the 80s I was alot harder back then.

  • I have a pretty bad case of it. I dont swear that much. But I do do it once in a while. However shge is right 15% or less. I tell people right when I meet them I have it. I dont have many problems except immigrants. They dont understand.

  • Thank you for sharing this video. People from other countries (I'm from Costa Rica) don't see this in the local TV, even if we get a lot of US channels.

Nice response to stilldb, you made him remove his comment. With your work you're helping create a critical mass that will eventually lead to people acknowledge TS as a simple unfortunate condition and respect people like Jacob.

He's a great kid, clearly in control of his emotions and staying positive. I would love to shake his hand.

    Peace!

  • stilldb wrote: "well this is boring, i was hoping for a laugh". I would typically just delete your comment but I'd like to share your comment with the rest of the group and to offer a response. I'm sure that with age and life experience you'll grow out of this phase of cheap laughs and your throw away comments. I genuinely hope that TS never touches you, your friends or family. My son Jacob and others will struggle with it their whole life. This is his challenge. I wish you luck with yours.

  • POWER WAY TO BE STRONG ! I hope your son is doing well, And hope he is living his life the best :)

  • @warner13

I'm trying to get people to laugh at bipolar disorder but we are not getting any good comments : ( (just kidding I just thought I would throw a good comment at my expense) sometimes taking things really seriously give the disorder too much power too. Like steven hawking has has his characture mimicked and stuff. There is a very fine line though and on you tube its insane what people say ( for shame) I find myslef from time to time saying things about peoples mothers in anger!

  • Same is the case with stammering or stuttering. People start making fun of stammerers instead of trying to understand their problem. I am a stammerer and I know how it feels like . But no matter what I am positive about my stammer and I am not ashamed of it. Let people laugh at me ....But I wont hate my stammer. It is something that is given to me by God. So its not a sin or a crime to stammer. We have to accept who we are.

  • he seems like a really sweet kid. the mom seems really smart, and capable. what a shitty, shitty condition.

  • I made a comment 11 months ago about this video and there are some supportive comments and some disrespectful comments. I have said before that my tourettes is somewhat severe and it is getting much worse since it is gettin darker outside earlier and it is raining alot more and I am cooped up indoors. Please people, tourettes guy is acomedy show and he is faking it and this is nothing to laugh at, it causes us severe pain and I have tendonitis in both wrists from pain. My mom is typing this!

  • it is really not funny. I dunno if my boyfriend has Tourette, but he has some tics (head, neck, shoulder, arm) but no sounds. But i dont care, i love him anyway. :) <3

and dont feel sorry, i isnt necessary at all , just be understanding;)

  • It is really not funny. I dunno if my boyfriend has got Tourette, but he has some tics (head, neck, arm) but no voices. think they are as normal as us, and dont feel sorry. i love his tics too, it is sweet ;) <3

  • think alot of people on here need to grown up and stop being ignorant

  • that kid is so brave!! he is brave enuf 2 share his story wit the world even thugh he'd get laufed @!! KEEP UR SPIRITS UP JACOB!!!!

  • lol aw such a sweet kid

  • damn, i really feel sorry for for the kid. Hope they'll be able to help such people one day

  • 2 rats maan that was a funny story :-|

  • Two Rats? LOL...

  • Poor kid. Im glad he copes with it like nothing though. Good for him.

  • I just feel sorry for him, must be tough living around other "normal" kids =(

  • There's nothing abnormal about Jacob StupidWiz. He's as "normal" as you or me or anyone else. He's just got Tourettes is all. Don't feel sorry for him. He's the toughest of us all.

  • @warner13 Why call him normal if he has a disorder.

  • @TurnYourBrainOn2 wrote "Why call him normal if he has a disorder"

I call my son Jacob normal because he IS normal. Yes, he has Tourettes but that does not define him. A lot of us have problems. Tourettes is his. What is yours?

I think it's important to recognize and appreciate that we are ALL different and it's these differences that make us who we are as a society and a culture. Hate and intolerance are things that we learn as adults so we have a lot to learn from our children.

  • @warner13 My problems are unimportant.

I find it strange that you would consider him normal when his disorder keeps him from being just that.

We're all a little different in our own ways, and i don't think that anyone is normal.

I have nothing against your son, and i find it extremely offensive that you would associate my comment with hate and intolerance.

  • @TurnYourBrainOn2 I find your comment about Jacob NOT being normal equally as offensive as you find my comment about those that hate or are intolerant. You are right about one thing. We are all different in our own ways so why make the comment in the first place if you feel like no one is "normal"?

  • @warner13 My point is this, if you keep telling your son that this behavior is "normal" he'll find himself in multiple situations where people aren't so accepting, and when he ends up having one of his ticks, people WILL see him differently.

By telling him he is normal you are telling him he can act like everyone else, which is false. Your son needs to understand that.

  • @TurnYourBrainOn2 We don't tell Jacob that his tics are normal. He knows they aren't. What we DO tell him is that everyone has challenges. His are more obvious than others because he has tics. You're not qualified to talk on the subject of what my son needs. Maybe when you become a parent of a special needs child you'll understand... or maybe not. Until then I encourage you to build kids up rather than attempt to tear them down. We teach Jacob to accept others how they are. Why can't you?

  • @warner13 I accept him as much as any other person, you, on the other hand, are an idiot. Why can't you understand what i'm trying to get across? The doctors must have fed you all this P.C lingo huh?

  • @TurnYourBrainOn2 Disappointing...I was hoping that you wouldn't take the low road by name calling but I guess I should have expected it. Too bad you feel the way you do. I understand what you've been saying. I just don't agree and think it's easy to talk about things you know nothing about. Our goal for posting the video and for being active in the TS community is to educate and teach tolerance to people. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.

  • @warner13 wow im shocked at the comments you have been getting,i dont personally know anyone who has t.s but im finding it quiet hard that you have got people telling you how to raise your child.just because your son ticks doesnt make him abnormal,if your son is accepting of his t.s then to hell with anyone who tries to label him.to him this probably is the norm and if people cant accept that then its them with a problem and not your son.all respects to you and your family...especially jacob x

  • For anyone here with tourettes syndrome. Do you find that your tourettes worsen in the heat? Especially in a hot house or room.

  • man this kid Jacob seems like a really cool kid... I'd be his friend if I knew him and not just to be nice but he does seem cool

  • i used to have tourette syndrome, but i don't know why it decreases each year i grew older, like 2 years ago i think i have to do almost anything in twice or more, but now i became more calm, did anyone knows what is happening with me??

  • You are just one of the lucky cases where it reduced by itself.

  • Tourettes is such an unfortunate affliction. While I do sometimes find myself laughing at some [eoples tics, I am also aware that it is, in man y cases, an unbelievably debilitating disease. I find this Boy to be extremely Courageous, amazingly thick skinned and more well adjusted than I can claim to be

  • gr8 kid

  • What a doll!! You can tell he's a great kid. Thanks for posting!

  • lol tourettes is hillarious just like on south park

  • Sorry you feel this way. Maybe when you have someone in your life that has a similar condition or illness you'll think differently. We hope so.

  • do those tics or noises always come in twos?

  • Jacob's tics are random in frequency so he's tic only a few times or many times. No specific number to my knowledge. -Warner (Jacob's Dad)

  • thank you

  • Not necessarily. It's different in all people. I have a friend who has it, and she blurts out a sound kinda like this and jumps. But sometimes it will come in 4's or 3's.

  • it would be so hard to deal with that :( that would be such a pain

  • Aww hes too cute.. ]:

  • he is so young to have to deal with his tourettes.

  • I recall people with tics when I was a kid (a long time ago! LOL!) and people were not very tolerant or understanding. Today I feel that people are better educated and more compassionate. There is always hope.

  • my husband has mild tics but it is still hard to deal with depending on the situation

  • You shouldnt feel bad it doesnt change who you are your still an awesome person and continue to be who you are and if some makes fun of you just keep you head strong. You are like everyone else <3

  • i used to have tourettes. i would make this hard nod or head bang. thank god its gone. made my neck hurt.

  • it sounds like he's sneezing... he got lucky

  • poor kids

  • what sound does he make??

  • Jacob's Tics change from time to time. Sometimes they will be a throat clearing sound, big inhale with sound, sneezing sound... that sort of thing. They Tics have gained in intensity and frequency over the years but are not has high as a lot of kids with TS. Thanks for your inquiry.

  • at least alot of the time if hes out in public or something it wont be a really different kind of tick it just looks/sounds like a sneeze

  • i have it too it sucks!

  • god bless him

  • Finally, a video that doesn't focus on coprolalia. Hang in there Jacob! I've got TS too, and mine was as bad as yours when I was younger, but it did get less severe. I hope yours does as well!

  • Richard Lewis is nothing to laugh at either.

  • Its the first time i hear about Tourettes syndrome. I feel sad!

  • lol.2 rats.

  • Very smart young man!

  • be brave jacob

  • beautiful family

  • he is so cute...feel sorry for him :(

  • wow, ive got TS and i dont think i could go on t.v like that, the kids an insperation. i dont have it as bad as him thank god but i no how he feels. its not really the best thing to have to cope with so yeah definatly rase awareness.

  • you've got teamspeak!...coooooool!

  • I have a friend that has tourettes he doesn't swear he just puts hand to his mouth like he is coughing and makes a noise like mwaup mwaup mwaup

  • why do they use swear words then ??

  • Sometimes they latch onto words that they "know" are inappropriate for the situation but cannot help saying them. That makes it really tough for them and for everyone. It's part of the condition with some folks with TS.

  • what if they are talking and hes all like FUck!!@#!@#!@# shit!@#@$!@

  • ThaVico- What the video again bro. You'll have your answer then. Swearing is rare (less than 15%). Let's build these kids up and not tear them down. Imagine what we could accomplish if we were positive and not negative.

  • wow this is the second time i've seen real touretts

  • that sucks cause hes such a good kid

  • i am supporting. but the ones that cuss are pretty hilarious.

  • See, that's the thing Chanel965. By laughing at "the ones" that have TS you aren't supporting at all. Why not build each other up rather than tear each other down? It would make it a better place for us all to be wouldn't it? Please consider it.

  • Hope youll get better one day...

  • Aww... but he's cute. :] It'll get better. :D

  • He's awesome!!

    Tourettes is wayy over dramatized....

  • Yes. Jacob is awesome as are all of the great kids that have TS. I will assume that by stating that TS is over dramatized you mean that it's often mistaking as a condition where those that have it yell, scream and curse. Sure, some do but most don't. Regardless, we love them all. Thank you for your support.

  • Haha, he's so cute.

It does really sound like a sneeze though.

  • awh what a cutieeee :)

you barely notice it actually it kindof does seem like sneezing

  • I would say god bless you everytime he did it even if i knew

  • i saw her today at a simenar

  • I have a nine year old son with Tourette and he has the tics. Some tics come and go. Its hard on everyone especially on the child who has tourette syndrome. They need love and compassion. not ridicule. Awareness is the best thing.

  • he's so cutee! I feel so bad for him! [:

  • i feel so bad for them.

  • Wanting to move like that, I can understand it. I've lived with ADHD all my life and you can actually feel the energy flowing through your body making your muscles want to respond. Like you *WANT* badly to move around a lot. It's almost a need because it's extremely hard to sit completely still. Bouncing my right leg really fast channels a lot of it away.

  • Poor kid. :(

He's all polite and stuff. He's very sweet though.

  • I have a slight syndrome of this but its so slight no one notices. So i sorta understand this kid.

  • apparently he has tourrets and ADHD cuase he wont sit fucking still

  • TS manifests itself differently in each person that has it. Sometimes the behaviors cleverly disguise themselves as something else like ADD or OCD etc. This is a problem because often TS goes undiagnosed and untreated leaving the person with it in the dark. You were making a joke with your comment which I think is unfortunate but I'm leaving it in so that others will read response to it. Through education we all learn tolerance and acceptance. I hope you'll reconsider your view about TS.

  • no i have tourettes and i cant stay still

  • 60% of people with tourettes have ADD and 50% have OCD

  • this isn't a funny tourettes vid I'd pass.

  • lol... i feel sry for people with TS. but that Tourrettesguy stuff is funny i dont give a SHIT

  • Obviously when someone sees "the Tourettes guy" it is shocking. The thing that a lot of folks don't understand is that the silent majority that have TS don't behave like this and don't exploit their condition like that. I cannot speak for them all but I can tell you that my son is one of those kids with TS that just wants to fit in like everyone else. Please recognize the difference between Jacob and those that exploit TS for comedic value.

  • With Tourettes guy, he was also an aloholic, which worsened the condition. Although in his case he most likely understood what he was doing, it doesn't speak for everyone else.

  • how does he make that sound?

  • We all have that little tickle in the back of our throat from time to time. We sniff or cough or something like this to "clear" that tickle. It works for us but Jacob brain (like some others) does not get that satisfaction that we do and keeps doing it until that feeling is resolved. This could be a few times or dozens of time. Sometimes thousands a day. These are not sounds unique to those with TS as we all make them, but rather the frequency of them that is different.

  • the comedian said there is nothing to laugh about their funny ticks.

    can't laugh at FUNNY ticks?

    well, mr.controversial.

  • LOL, agreed.

  • I think that you guys are missing the point to the story. Please watch the video again and see what it's all about. The message is pretty clear I think. TS is a real condition that affects a lot of folks. Through education we can all learn to be tolerant and accepting.

  • What an adorable little guy he is....and so outgoing and polite. I don't find TS funny at all, I can't imagine how one would get used to this. You're right, this has been made something funny by Hollywood, I just don't get it. Thank you for your efforts......:)

  • I have two rats and a niger fuck a whore... bless me

  • Windowshacker66- Normally, I'd take this offensive comment down but I'd like to leave it up here for others to see how out of place you are by making it. It's sad you find TS to be funny. I of course wish you felt differently about TS and African Americans. I think your comment though might just fit you.

  • cute kid

  • you know i have severe ADD and i think i would rather have tourettes

  • I love the fact that a lot of the people commenting just have to say they have tourettes. Tourettes is defined as part of a spectrum of tic disorders, which includes transient and chronic tics.

I bet most of you who claim you have it didn't know about that.

Even though tourettes isn't considered rare anymore, most of the cases are considered to be below mild or even below an average case of tourettes.

  • He says it's nothing to laugh at, but that the tics are funny. If they're funny then by definition they're something to laugh at.

  • Please don't focus on the trees or you might miss the forest. My point is not to get so caught up on how the message is delivered but rather of what the message is all about.

  • what they are saying is even though it is sometimes funny what they do but to just try not to laugh at them cause it could really offend them or make them feel differant

  • Pretty soon they (the drug companies) will find a drug to treat this disease after all they are losing profits from Anti-depressants because they are extremely bad for you, and obviously are not working. They even have a drug out to take to HELP the anti-depressants you are taking. HAHA I seriously want to know who is stupid enough for taking THAT pill.

  • im sorry that ur child has tourettes i didnt now that tourettes hurts.

  • This is sad to see people like this. They could get really hurt by someone if someone took offense to this. I feel reli sorry fro the guy.

  • wtf is he talkin about I want tourettes then have an excuse to be an asshole

  • I think that clearly you have accomplished this without having TS. Congratulations genius.
