  • lol me and my friend once caught 96 of em in a hour we let em go in a couple days, it was kinda funny cause we made a huge castle with water and stuff

  • can you catch them in BC??

  • Donnie Darko music?

  • THAT IS AMAZING

  • were can u go to buy one of these red spotted newts. i have a fire belly and an all black one and a japanese fire newt, but the red spotted one is the probly the coolest one ive seen so far, anyone from texas? can u buy one in Texas? is there a website you can visit to buy one?

  • It's an eastern in it's eft stage, before they return to th e water. All over my yard in central PA. Look up Eastern newt... I'm glad you enjoyed. =)

  • very cool vid.. I found one of these this past weekend in eastern ohio they are very dosile and have awesome coloring.

  • nice video, are there many newt's in the woods around your home?

  • Yes, in this phase. :)

  • It's against the law for newts to climb trees and then fall up.

They have to use gravity to fall down.

    It's the Newtonian Law.

  • once upon a time Newton was hit by a ruby colored apple, it turned him to a blood-red newt. He felt like the bug in kafka but he found lots of advantages being one, he could move faster (-: and he had a much longer tail and uhm he could spend a lot of time in nature. He had a much longer life expectancy, so a few centuries later, as he stuck out, he was lucky enough to make it into a heidisaid video

  • Cute

  • can newts kill you plz tell me i wanna know

  • Maybe if you ate one???

  • i suck newton? (=P

  • @1natalieflynn1 yes if you eat them, they can also irritate your skin and eyes if you dont wash after touching them, i have 3 as pets

  • thats really cool, i love those guys. i went up to my friend's cabin in upstate new york for a weekend and while we were up there it rained and once it had stop she was like, "tara get outside, i gotta show u something awesome". and sure enough, once we got outside there were those red newts everywhere. we much have seen hundreds crawling through the grass. it was amazing...

  • He's cute!

  • We have a black-yellow colored newt. It is poisonous.

  • Cool video. I came across you from dieselbodine's latest movie that he dedicated to you. I've just started doing wildlife videos but I wish I could get such good footage and the special effects !! Very nice.

  • Thank you... it bring me peace and balance. ~peace Oh yes - if you watch some of my other videos, you will understand my need for balance~ You can check out my old account for some other nature items if you are interested. Heidi

  • I'll check some of your other videos, in the meanwhile hope you are balanced and I'll try and find your old account for nature items. Mike

  • We are taken off balance by design. The Pendulum is starting to stand still though, we are on our way. ~Love <--Dont want to steal your Trademark :P

  • l love the music you have playing with this video peace :)

  • Thank you. It's Michael Anderson and it just 'worked'.

  • this is its land stage it lasts a few years right now it is called a red eft then it get all slimy like most other newts

  • Could you explain more and also, do you have any idea as to such a coloring (not very camouflaged). Thanks for any info provided! ~heidi

  • Since the eft is not sexually mature its red color is probably not related to sexual attraction (like patterns such as more beauty males and more camouflaged females). It's most probably a warning color, signaling to predators that this potential meal is toxic and should be avoided. The warning color pattern works if the newts produce toxic secrets and it works for untoxic species as a mimicry of the general warning pattern of a toxic / bad tasting species known to the predators. Don't swallow.

  • Thank you - this makes sense to me. Red=bad.

I won't swallow! Thank you for the info, Heidi

  • How big was this thing?

  • thought I responded but it didn't post? Only two or 3 inches (mostly tail) and no more than 2 centimeters wide. They are really sweet - no teeth :)

  • Amazing creature & great video. Enjoyed how the searching camera and special sound in the second half made it a real adventure.

  • Thank you! Nothing like crawling on the ground with a camera... ~peace

  • Very cool.

  • Not as cool as the feeling of freedom! ~peace

  • Loved the color. So striking.

  • Someone mentioned camouflage - beautiful color, but quite poor camouflage! ~Heidi

  • Yeah I was thinking that too.. stands out very well to predators. Cool vid :)

  • my thanks. Red = poison to its predators? Just a guess - haven't look into it. ~peace

  • Awesome, beautiful. If I can ask where in PA did you spot this at? We used to live near Pittsburgh.

  • He / she was in my yard. I live near State College but deep in the woods. They are very friendly creatures. ~peace

  • If you like funny animal videos, check out my profile!

  • I will. 'Funny' are me 3 dogs. Oh my, what freaks - I don't even know where to begin! ~peace

  • Cool the only thing that would make it cooler is if you told me it was poisonous :)

  • No... no poison, and quite gentle and kind to handle. The color is fierce, but alas, the newt its't. :(

  • Yes, it is poison. I've been studying this newt for 3 years. The red coloration and red spots mean they are poisonous.

  • That is if a predator ate one, however, by just handling a newt, us Humans will not be poisoned. However, newts are not the type of creatures you should handle, unless you have too. Their more just to have as a cute little critter, to watch and observe. I have one Red-Spotted Newt, still an Eft and she is very interesting to watch.

  • Hello newt

  • Hello Jervns :)

  • hehehe love the way it got all darkly and serious then the newt title rolled up. wikked little ting.

  • Have you seen the movie Donnie Darko? Micheal Anderson did the score and this was one of the songs. I used it for it fit the length of the clips, but it really worked out all on its own. Newts are very sweet and I do adore handling them... Jurassic looking without a scale. ~peace

  • yeah many years ago when it came out at the cinema.. Don't remember much about that film.. didn't hit me like it did most peeps.

  • No fair, you've got lots of cool creatures where you live. I'd be lucky to find an earthworm in my garden.... :o(

  • Hiking up my mountain today. Can't wait to see what I come across fauna wise. Wish me luck - it's a beautiful day here! ~Heidi

  • I'm glad the newt has those red spots for camouflage.

  • LOL Oh my - this is so funny. I actually question this aspect often. Salamanders (which I don't have this far north) are well camouflaged. Man, what a laugh you just gave me. You're quite good for that! ~peace

  • I'm smiling.

  • ok that was cool. Such an awesome newt. Love the effects as well

  • Hey thanks.... I've been messing around with editing. Its quite a bit of fun! ~peace

  • I would vote for that Newt!!!! Thanx a whole heap of a lot for the newt!!!

    I love your petting zoo!!!

  • Yes... me too. Love my newts - I really do! Glad you enjoyed. I know I did.

  • Nature is absolutely fucking amazing. =)

  • Absolutely. Couldn't have put it better myself. ~peace

  • When the thudding music began, I felt I was watching a red-spotted dinosaur thudding across the landscape. Great!

  • Fun stuff. I need to credit Michael Andrews. This is from the the Donnie Darko Soundtrack, called (appropriately) "Slipping Away"

  • Heidi makes a creative masterpiece! 5*****

  • The newt is a star :) Glad you enjoyed it.

  • AWESOME!!! really enjoy the music in this....

  • Thank you. It just fit. ~Peace
