The midnight Special usually featured live acts. I would say for sure there is music being piped into this version and it does sound polished. But ABBA was amazing live! Their performances were spot on with the record releases. The ladies voices were just magic together! Look up "ABBA - Dancing Queen Live" and listen to the live concert version too!

No offense, but The Midnight Special ran for 90 minutes, not an hour. And it didn't just have "a different rock & roll band every Friday night" -- it had numerous bands, and comedians, on each show. It was a musical variety show that aired right after Johnny Carson each week and ran for about 8 years IIRC.
