I agree with the guy that said it looks like Vista which even windows users hate! How dumb can they be to think LINUX users want to use Vista style anything! I liked KDE because it was simple, now I use GNOME!
Kickoff will remain the 'default' in KDE4 for now. Raptor looks sexy and promises much but still needs a lot of work so it wont be ready in time. Nevertheless, they are both just plasmoids in KDE's knew grand scheme of things (plasma)... so it wont be long before you can simply choose the one you like and use that one.
I agree wholeheartedly, as I find this KMenu setup confusing. If I can't find a way to go back to the KMenu actions that are the default in KDE3, I'm seriously considering changing desktop environments, probably to Xfce (I've never cared for GNOME).
Yeah, but where? I tried it once and never could find it -- not to mention, GNOME has grown on me to where it's now my desktop of choice, although I still like Xfce, too.
Not to mention, while I know this can be changed, I absolutely DESPISE how KDE4, by default, goes for a Windows Vista-ish type of look. I mean, I'm running Linux -- why would I want a desktop that tries to look like an OS that's the OS equivalent of the Edsel, even according to Windows users who refuse to switch?
Very beautiful

Magnific! It's the best Menu of all time!
baltolkien 3 years ago
yes, i have this menu in openSuSE 10.2...
and if you use this menu, the best form to use it, is with the search section, for finding programs shortcuts,
and in a few minutes, you will want to change to the old menu style

That is also menu with kde 3.5 in suse OS. It has nothing to do with kde4.
jonson11122 4 years ago
This is Kde 3.5, but it will be default in KDE 4.
italianesport 4 years ago
No, it will not. It will be adapted to KDE4, and is the defaul menu for SuSE and Sabayon, but it will not be used by default.
If you do not believe me, just give a try to the Beta 3 of KDE4

Well... I do have KDE 4 Beta 3 in Kubuntu Gutsy but it doesn't have a menu at all. :-)
I don't know if a decision has already been taken but the possibilities being discussed for KDE 4 are Raptor and Kickoff.

Yes. It is the official default, distros can choose otherwise if they wish however.

KDE 4 with Fedora 9 lets you easily switch.
