After their career is finally over, U2 will not only leave behind one of the biggest footprints in the history of rock, they’ll leave behind one of the biggest footprints in the history of music. Their 'competition' isn't just rock legends like The Beatles, Elvis, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones-- it's people like Mozart, Beethoven, George Gershwin, and Duke Ellington. They are truly one of the ALL-TIME greats. Anyone who doesn't understand this needs to listen to their ENTIRE catalog.
I think that all depends on what you mean by "popular". I'm pretty sure long time U2 fans remember the track --- particularly the standout Wide Awake In America version --- from when it was released 27 years ago. Wide Awake In America also includes the definitive "Bad", if you ask me. Hard to beat that version.
u2 its the best band ever all time...this song its so perfect....thanks to pearl jam too,,its a good band....we love u2 its on my blood,,,bono, edge, larry adam u2 portugal
Eddie Vedder, stop it. Every favorite song by my favorite artist, you go and put out a hell of a cover of it. Please call me so we can talk about Music.
By the way, 1:09 "oh this is my favorite". I found it funny. Sounds like me.
@basehead617 and that would be me, the owner of the video LOL....yeah I was onto it straight away, wish he'd played the whole song. U2 were touring OZ at the time which is why PJ played it
U2 played it plenty of times back on the Unforgettable Fire tour, and a few times on the Joshua Tree tour, it isn`t that rare. Maybe if you mean it`s rare for PJ to play it :P
...one of my fave early U2 songs, I really prefer the stuff up to The Joshua Tree, anything after I lost interest in unfortunately, but this version sent shivers down my spine!!
It was one of there biggest performed songs since its release and it's owned by literaly multiples of millions of people around the world. Covered by dozens and was given surreal airplay along with Bad. Could be worse, i know a guy who thought Achtung Baby was there first song.
I know that. What i said was that i know a guy who said he "loved" u2, whose lack on knowledge was atrocious because he thought Achtung Baby was their first song. I thus informed him it was their seventh album. (he was thinking of Ultraviolet btw). Read the post properly b4 u comment dude.
I thought it was a pretty good effort, and it's great to see bands do stuff like this. However, it was a bit disappointing that Eddie didn't even try to hit that high note on 0:44.
LOL! I'm not sure Germana, you must have been living under a rock :P...I don't think I posted it in Zootopia. Yeah it was certainly something rare to hear, just wished he'd have done the whole song!
Sorry Eddie. I have watched U-2, I have seen U-2, U-2 is a friend of mine, You sir are Not Bono, Nor U-2. You are not relevant. This is not 1992...
Stick to your bitter political rants they play on MTV- whining about how bad America is- while it blesses you and your band with millions in profits over the past years.
Chill, man. Just guessing, sure it is a cudos to U2, since when do people cover a song so they can be like them. If Bono is your friend, as his opinion

I want this song played at my funeral. I've been a fan since 83. No don't sorrow no don't weep - exactly the message I want to convey
