Unfortunately no...I'm not sure why, because in theory that's how it should be, but I think Blizzard considers your dps to be the average damage over something like 5 minutes.

@bfm0803 it would have been if it was a instant cast. dmg done divided by cast time. lets say you would crit 6k, with a 2 sec cast, all the time, it would result into 3k dps. also pretty obvious if you think about it. :>

Enough imbecile. Read video info before you comment. I think i know what i am doing when it comes to balance. This was WotLK beta testing... why? Because i alpha tested. Why? because i wrote a thesis paper during Sunwell explaining flaws and bugs in balance mechanics.

I find it strange that 11 of my 15 detailed improvements to the balance tree were in fact enacted VERBATIM and still exist to this day with only minor tuning to counter gear/dungeon requirements.

F.Y.I. I am capable of doing 9k dps as balance now. Clearly my lack of knowledge denotes such performance. Furthermore the balance tree still needs much work and i am working actively to implement changes in Cataclysm.

then basically rinse and repeat.

most people don't like you using starfall or treeants more specifically in dungeons and depending on the raids they don't care...for mobs Hurricane is a good one to use also...

No such thing as OOMkin...with Intensity and Clearcasting it's impossible, and if you do end up getting low, then all you have to do is pop Innervate.

List of classes that DON"T Use rotations:

Warriors - Arms/fury

Death Knights - frost

Shaman - Enhancement

DRUIDS- Balance (you do moonfire, insect swarm, wrath until eclipse procs then something else) so its not a set rotation

Only classes I've played that ever used a distinct set rotation in PvE are ret paladins.

i recently specced balance on live 11/6/08 to see what kind of dps i was doing. Test was prince in kara with only an ele shaman and a flask. no curse of shadows was present. managed ~3500 dps without mana issues

Paladin don't have to cast SHIT to deal their damage, their ONLY cast time is holy light, and it's a faster cast than healing touch, and SURPRISE holy light heals for more if you're ret.

yes, 6k crits are a bit surprising considering no flask/oil/food buffs. moonkins took a spell dmg hit Via Lunar Guidance talent however recieved imp shapeshift +4% spell dmg.  all in all if you include the CoE change, E&M talent buff, and the added 6% haste from balance talents, you can clearly account for the increase in DPS.

While pre-swp i stacked crit/dmg and attained roughly 1350 unbuffed SD and around 45% crit, i changed to resocketing all +haste gems and took a major hit in the SD and crit areas. However the -15% crit and -80SD hit i took switching to haste did increase my dps signifcantly. In that video my starfires are being cast at 2.2seconds w/o heroism.

I find it worthwhile spending only 1 point in eclipse for the extra SF crit% and 3/5 E&M to keep up the 14% SD buff. In addition i am also using glyphs which refesh Moonfire on the target so all i pretty much have to cast is IS and SF.

My innervate wasnt used more any mana tricks, straight up regen. with my lvl of gear this dps could be sustained ~8-10min, drastically more with spriest of course. But yes, shaman clearcasting >>>>>>> druid clearcasting.

We are attacking a target dummy thats designed to act like a Boss, similar armor/resist/lvl and what not.
