  • Does anyone notice the fact that the judge puts his glasses on for a total of literally three seconds?

  • Toegoff sent me here

  • It's better than how I met your mother.

  • WHY WAS THIS SHOW CANCELLED?

  • @Arctophile2000 Because it was a piece of shit.

  • Thanks for bringing me Ryanimay :))

  • @Clouds2Rain Yeahh

  • Worst. Judge. Ever.

  • this kinda reminds me of plan B's she said.

  • How did this happen? How did someone convince a large room of people that this was a good idea?

  • It may be a flop... but I still think it's better than Glee. Thanks Gladstone!

  • @koderboy88 I could take a shit in a sandwich bag and throw it really hard against a moving car's windshield and it'd be more entertaining than Glee, so that's not saying much.

  • This is how they convict people in North Korea.

"What proof do you have of his guilt?"

"This is one bad dude. Throw that fucker in jail already."

  • I was 8 when this show was on and I thought it was stupid. Like who were and are the people on Fox I'll probably google all the shows Fox turn down over the years that were hits just to show stuff like this.

  • This really excels in being terrible. kudos

  • they should have had this jury for Casey Anthony

  • @ 0:20 Before becoming a high profile lawyer Johnnie Cochran was a singin' foreman

  • Oh damn! I heard about this trainwreck 20 years ago but never saw it. OMG! I love it when da' judge sez' "hit it!" Wow!

  • Simply too far ahead of it's time...There was an episode where a young lady sang about her baby that either died, or that she gave up because she was a drug addict (I believe)...It was one of the most chilling vocal performances I have ever heard...If anyone has it, could you please post it...It was obviously from an episode of COP ROCK...THIS SHOW WAS GENIUS!!

  • This is way better than GLEE

  • @codybucklin Farting in a bathtub in better than Glee. What's your point?

  • Takin' it to church up in this bitch!!

  • This is hilarious....but anybody who tapes over somebody's tapes (especially of stuff like Liquid Television) needs to be slapped upside the head.

  • Glee SUCKS.

  • This has to be a mistrial.

  • He's Guilty!! Amen Judge, AMEN Love this ! ahahha

  • LOVED Cop Rock.

  • This beats Glee any day wish they showed it in England.

  • thumbs up if Harto sent you here ;)

  • This is so damn wrong, I can't even.........

  • How on Earth was a concept this impossibly random ever given the green light?

  • Well, that's almost the definition of a cult TV show. Either you got it or you didn't. I got it & I loved it...

  • I remember I watched this show after a few beers, I was like wtf? I thought I was imaging shit, like my beer was rancid... I can't believe how fucked up this was.

  • I love it! It's fun!

  • 0:50 dance reminds me of Carlton

  • Despite the fact that the show was awful, its not a bad song

  • Please put it on DVD. This was a good show.

  • thi show must have sucked what was the creator thinking?

  • I bet they are cursing there luck that the one court they went too had to be court church. Where the only winner is jesus.

  • man this show fucking sucks balls.

  • @df61660a lmao

  • If I was that criminal I'd be totally fed up with all the singing. "Alright, alright, stop rubbing it in, you assholes!"

  • OMG!!!! It was a musical/cop/show. It was hilarious.

  • ummm

  • Think the judge's wife sits at all of his trials?

  • When the jury is harmonizing with the prosecution...It's time to call a mistrial.

  • @DeadMediafilms Lmao!! And I am a law student wanting to work for the Prosecution and I agree, mistrial so bad!!!

  • one of the better songs.

Gonna have to agree with Obscurus Lupa that some of the songs were downright awful or done at inappropriate times.

  • Totally ahead of it's time. Ally McBeal made it work.

  • We all laugh at this crap yet American Idol and Glee are hits. WTF America?

I remember when this show was on.............I was watching Married with Children. :)

  • @cmonty72 There was Grease and Crybaby way before this. American Idol is a contest show and Glee is a school thing... not the same as solving crime with a choir.

  • Just as i was getting into this show they cancelled it. I'm still singing the blues about it, mmmmm

  • Seems like it would be an awkwardly unintentionally funny Broadway show, but what the hell were they thinking trying to make a series out of that LOL!

  • The only redeeming thing about this is that it features the great Carl Anderson, as the Judge. Anderson played Judas in the 70s movie version of Jesus Christ Superstar; one of the greatest performances ever captured on film.

  • This is the only musical number in the show that doesn't come off as so bizzarely awkward & forced so far

  • lmao! I almost lost it when the judge started in.

  • Watching this because of Community. For the first time, I feel sorry for Jeff.

  • If I wuz guilty of something, I wish this would happen to me...then I would throw a chair across the room to tell them I get it I'm fucking guilty

  • I'm so happy you uploaded these clips. I know the concept of so-bad-it's-good is beyond cliche by now, but there's no other way to describe this. This needs a DVD release badly, and quickly, before DVD's go the way of VHS.

  • I was abused as a child!

  • my language arts teacher went on a 25 minute rant about how horrible this show was . along with singing the songs and showing us the Wikipedia page .

    he was right .

  • The criminal mustave felt really bad because they really rubbed it in

  • I loved Cop Rock when it was, i guess one of the few but it was different from all of the other cop shows on at the time. It was not taking it self so seriously. like hils street blues, Hunter, matlock and all the rest. You youngsters that thing you have it bad with all the CSI's and Law and orders that is almost all we had. This show and Sledgehammer put a little twist on things.

  • Simmons

  • How in the hell could anyone have thought show would work? I'm shocked Glee caught on, but if it had been aimed at adults like this was, it would have been gone just as quickly.

  • "Glee" makes "Cop Rock" look like a masterpiece. In other words "Glee" sucks!!!

  • @bucky468

I can't bring myself to watch more than a minute or two of 'Glee' before turning away. Something about it really turns me off.

I see this look in the eyes of it's adherents - same look I see in the eyes of Jehovah's Witness's who try to tell me the Good News: they are guilty!

I plead 'Cop Rock' is innocent fun, much better than pretentious tosh like 'NYPD Blue' and 'CSI'.

  • @FungusMossGnosis You are so spot on w/that comment. Couldn't agree more. I can't go anywhere w/o hearing a "classic" song that was covered on "Glee"...absolutely pathetic!

  • @FungusMossGnosis The first time I turned "Glee" on I was thinking "what the hell is this?" & then flipped to the next channel. That show is schlock...bottom line!

  • @bucky468

Right, and thanks, and I can tell you, I hate most of the modern musical stuff, but I was able to get through far more of the High School Musical 2 crap than any of the TV stuff, if that tells you how much I hate TV musical shows!

  • "He's guilty, judge, he's guilty, you can see it in his eyes"

    Really impartial jury right there.

  • This is possibly the best thing I've ever witnessed.

Why on earth didn't this show make it? I think they need to try again. Right now.

  • @DocHorrible a musical cop drama?.. even though there were a handful of songs - ESPECIALLY this one that i liked, i can understand why the premise didn't catch on..along with this, there was 'Hull High', which starred Nancy Valen as a too-hot-for-high school teacher..Cop Rock lasted 13 episodes, and Hull High only an inconsistently-aired 8 episodes..this was 20 years ago, and hasn't been attempted since.......

  • @disabled1955 I am well aware of the reasons it didn't work, but that doesn't change the fact that I think it is fabulous beyond all belief.

But I think this would definitely catch on today, what with shows like glee that are doing so well.

Also, I thought this only lasted 11 episodes?

  • @DocHorrible times were very different in those days, so i wonder, today, what approach would work..conceptually, it wasn't a bad idea - execution makes or breaks a television show or movie..funny this would come up now.. just finished watching Tim Burton's 'Sweeney Todd' - it's definitely an acquired taste..as to # of eps., i assumed the customary 13 weeks, but there were only 11 (aired)...

  • @DocHorrible Good point, Doc. The success of a show like glee proves that Cop Rock was years ahead of its time.

  • how long did he get? c'mon don't leave me hanging. i am on the edge of my seat here. no wonder the show didn't last if they don't complete the story. because it couldn't be the idiotic premise of a police musical could it? could it?

  • wow, they were smoking crack when they made this show

  • The jury has reached a verdict.....and this is utterly bizarre!!!

    I'm absued right now!!!!!!

Why the hell is the wife's judge in the room?????

Talk about crazy clothes.....Dig the faggy ponytail on the plantiff.

  • The jury has reached a verdict.....and this is utterly bizarre!!!

  • Dumbest show ever.

  • Grüße Fräulein, Sturm-Verbot-Führer, they have the necessity more, which the tapes, as far as gwar, they are inoperative man, of him are thanked for this, despite for the warning of this become inflamed ignition sufficiently

  • what year did this show come out in?

  • @capricorn2645 --1990

  • isnt the judge the guy who played judas in jesus christ superstar

  • @cccpo5 --Yes. Carl Anderson died in 2004.

  • A great show that was ahead of its time.

I mean if Glee and High School Musical can get such attention can you imagine how well this would have done now? A more serious subject matter with some stellar voices and songs.

I so loved this show. The best was the closing of the finale episode.

  • i wish they would bring this show back...... lot of great voices

  • -If Sam and Dave were judge and head of the jury..!

  • Great singing talent. Totally weird subject matter, though. Why should anybody act happy and sing about somebody being condemned?

  • WTF?

  • i wish walt disney/pixar would animate this sequence...lol..lol..

  • Anyone know where i can get the entire episodes?

  • as an experiment-brilliant! The main cop was dirty and cruel and played by a good actor (name??)

  • in some other reality life is really like this...they call it hell!

  • @ufailpwn HAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU GOT THAT RIGHT

  • it is kinda scary that this episode won two emmy awards...

  • i loved this show. i never missed an epiosde. it was a bold try and way ahead of it's time.honestly, i think that cop rock would have done better as an off-broadway musical. also, most american t.v. audiences want their cops solving cases, not singing.

  • ugh..... just.... ugh

  • I wish that Jury Duty was like this in real life. More people would show up. :)

  • i agree.

  • If only David Hasselhoff had made it on to this show.

  • spank him!

  • If this was how court really was maybe people would be more willing to do jury duty.

  • Get out! The judge is Carl Anderson!

  • Cop Rock is my favorite TV show of all time....and I had the opportunity to tell Steven Bochco what I thought.....and he said...."you and ten other people."

  • This wasnat half bad but the funny thing is that: "

Cop Rock has been cited as one of the worst television series, ranking #8 on TV Gui"de's TV Guide's List of the 50 Worst TV Shows of All Time list in 2002.[

  • They put Hogan's Heroes #5 on that list. Hogan's Heroes. That pretty much renders the whole list null and void if you ask me.

  • @ninino86 say it ain't so. Iiked it. this show is why we now have Glee, singing teenagers.

  • I'm surprised, this is actually good. If Glee gets away with it, so can this.

  • @frasierfreak92

Actually, it didn't "get away with it".

  • So what exactly is this... they sing about every little thing? What happens if one of the characters gets cancer?

"You've got CAAAA-HAAAAAN CER! Yes you got it! CAAAA-HAAAAAN CER!!! And now you gotta get yo chemo! CAAAA-HAAAAAN CER! There aint no doubt about it... you probablyyyyyyyyy... gonna...... dieeeeeeeeeee!"

    Best show ever.

  • this was good stuff. different from the everday junk which was on television.

  • this might have worked better as a movie than a show

  • sign the petition to get this on DVD at

    coprockDOTinfo

  • Great song

  • Law & Order: The Musical! HAHAHAHA

  • This is so unintentionally funny that they could have made this into a musical/cop show/everything parody easily.

  • @tokyogirl79 you mean this wasn't supposed to be funny!

  • @causticblood maybe if the show was presented more as a comedy, it would have stood a chance of lasting longer..20 years later, i can see the absurdity - and it was done twice!..remember 'Hull High' with Nancy Valen?..it was sporadically aired at the same time, lasting only 8 shows.......

  • @tokyogirl79 Yeah - but Bochco was playing it straight.

I remember pissing myself laughing when this aired on BBC1...

  • @tokyogirl79 I doubt it's unintentionally funny - I'm sure they were quite aware of the humor.

  • Dear God....

  • In Glee, singing is a big part of the story. THIS, is totally different and totally ridiculous. I love watching it, for camp value, but it's ridiculous.

  • Have to agree that this show was way ahead of his time...yes, sometimes clumsy, but this particular clip is one iof the reasons why it could have worked and why All McBeal and Glee did and do their thing...

  • Well, Glee is a show about music, this was an actual musical. I haven't seen a whole episode, I just found out about it, but it does look pretty good, and I believe it would've been successful today. I really wish it would be released on DVD so I could watch it

  • @BaseballDigest i think those shows do their thing based on their own merits, not this nonsense.

  • Pre-Glee

This needs to be on DVD.

    Have a Xmas Merry.

  • People who think this is bad ought to be sentenced to watch the Quitcherbitchin' clip through to the end.

  • @tygerteam oh, i've watched... i've watched... and LoLLed

  • I can see why Mike Judge had such an easy time making fun of this on his show...Beavis and Butt-head!

  • ahead of it's time?? apparently the right time still hasn't come. this is what happens when the entire world becomes gay... everything will be a musical.

  • this is SOOO DUMB wow

  • OK, UTFAN....you're as lame as this ridiculous show if you think that this was cool. Singing cops?! The lyrics were forced and banal, and the music was boring Hammond organ driven Allman brothers type old school music that, ironically in the end, isn't even rock.

The only way this would have had a chance is if Rob Zombie and Slipknot had helped out.....

Bottom line.....stupidest most embarrassing thing ever on tv.....

  • @maryjanesfury Rob Zombie and Slipknot? Heheheh. White people "music"

  • This show was awesome. A head of it's time and down right the best thing on TV at that time.

Hell concidering the drek on TV now, it even tops anything you see today.

  • Dont know 'bout you lot, but I actually enjoyed this show.....thanks Mr D

  • a mix of Glee and Law and Order

  • The really sad thing about this, is that IIRC Carl Anderson (the judge) died of cancer shortly after this show wrapped. What a way to go out after having been Judas in JC Superstar on stage and screen...

  • Oh GOD--This show!...

Really the worst...and it went in the ash heaps where it deservedly belonged!

It was so embarrassing to watch---it's as if you wanted to find anything to cover your head--so nobody would know you were in the same room watching it,,

    Awful! Awful!

  • Oh my...

  • I remember this show, gay then gay now

  • I loved how the crook tried to throw himself on the mercy of the court. by making excuses Even his lawyer tried to excuse his actions ,but in the end just like his lawyer turning against him ,and giving water to help him swallow his punishment he had to learn to swallow his fate for the things he had done.. Sound like life to me....Adam

  • the gayest show ever made........a literal steaming pile of dogshit

  • What the hell were they thinking. lol. Maybe I just hate musicals but damn come on..

  • Stephen!

  • Just coming!

  • Just coming!

  • A kneeling Ox?

  • Haha This show looks genius...

    STEEEPHEN!!!

  • Just Coming

  • Hand = up.

  • "I was abused as a child!" What the hell kind of lyric IS that?! Haha. Thank you A&J! (Well mainly Adam)

  • haha so true!

  • My hand is up.

  • Hands up.

  • Hands up how many of us have watched this after hearing about it on the Adam and Joe podcast?

  • o/ yea

  • (Holds hand up)

  • Me, just finnished listening to it.

  • Nope, I heard about it on Boggins. As for the defendant who was abused as a child, that's what happens when you hide in R. Kelly's cabinet like a midget... midget... midget.....

  • lol, Adam and Joe were right.

  • If this was aired today I would watch it. I was too young to remember it first time round (I was 6). Cop Rock rocks!

  • This would've worked as a musical, but not a series. Still, it's entertaining.

...And, plus, the foreman has a killer voice.

  • Man, that show was beyond awful.

  • i'm a college graduate with two degrees. i love art & creativity. so, i'm not mentally handicapped. art is in the eye of beholder. some see dega' and see kindergarten scribbles & splashes of color..others see the sun and universe. you sound like those who bashed the opera carmen. i love cop rock. i think it was bold & different. most americans hate musicals and opera. but, i want to see you take the same subject matter & do better. i dare you. me? i never throw stones at someone's creativity.

  • cop rock ruled..it was & is a great misunderstood urban opera about police officers..cop rock's as artistic as the opera CARMEN whom many critics, in its intial release hated on, misunderstood, and totally dissed CARMEN..citing it as "low brow","vulgar" "a waste of a grand stage and a symphony's time"..it took CARMEN many decades to be accepted as one of the truly significant & universal operas..cop rock was put out before an auidence not ready for an urban opera on a primetime american stage..

  • LOL. You must be retarded. There is nothing misunderstood about this. It's fucken awful and cheesy ... that's it. It's actually so bad that it's great to watch and laugh at. Urban opera my ass hahaha.
