This is a old punjabi folk song which my mom learned in her childhood like many others. My mother was born in 1923 in Pakistan and her mother (my naani) was from Lahore. This is a punjabi folk song not written by any captain of British army.
Can someone tell me where this best legend, top singer, Princess of Pakistan lives in Canada? I want to see live once in my life, and kiss their hands and feet before I die! I've heard their songs and cried with us, and my childhood memories is alive again, as I was then 11 years old!
Musarrat Nazir please please send me a message !!!!!!!!
This Song was written by Captain Harcharan Singh ji , who is my Mom's Mama ji .
He was part of Sikh Regiment of British Army and he wrote songs during the World wars , he faught far off places and every night he would write and sing songs for Sikh Soldier's in far off lands who would have camfires and at night in solitary lands and difficult missions would come and regaled by singing and remembring their lives and sweetheart wives in Punjab . He merged into feet of Guru ji in 1982 .
@TheDrSingh dont u think its a folk song of punjab, neither indian nor pakistani.may be captain sb nay lyrics ko arrange kia ho.i dont think so that folk songs are written by anyone, they just evolved.
Makes me feel so nostalgic for my childhood! Our old landlady, a Punjabi woman who had to flee Lahore along with (whatever remained of) her family after the partition would often sing this song to me when my parents would go somewhere and leave me in her care!
well i dont know about anyone else but i for sure am proud to be muslim punjabi and i love it that me and my sikh friends can all sit at a mendhi and sing the same songs etc ... the british divided US and we are worse then them because now we stay divided...
I didnnt even know that m.nazir existed I HARD THE song and thouught wow. she is fantastic .there isno other word for it. thankyou mn I LOVE YOU DHARM
But i wonder one thing. Surinder biba and those women has also sung this song. But who has sung it from begining? I presume m Nazir. Does anyone know for sure?
wait..is it just me, or does this tune resemble a song from a hindi movie..'sabki baratien aayi..doli tu bhi lana..' something like that..i cant remember..
well...i'm an indian..and i hate to admit that indian music directors copy A LOT of music from a lot of places...its shameful..
but this song is not related to the song which you are not telling
well about copying i would say
it someone copy the song it means the orignal songs were really good everyone should proud if their song is copied by someone think +ve
but the most shamful this that if anyone dont admit song being copied but as far as old punjabi folk song no one can claim the ownership alone b/c punjab was single state so the ownsership of old folk asset is shared among both side of punjab
Wonderful Song and Video. It gives the soothing feeling of our desi and pure culture. I never lived in this kind of environment but I love this desi style.
i am Seljuk turk but i was born in Punjab living in Punjab and i am proud to be Punjabi and part of such vibrant multi dimensional colourful culture which has so much to offer
Thanks for posting such classic old song. A song which is worth listening, when a person like me is away from his homeland. A song which purely depicts our cultural values.
Such songs can never be compared with modern pop music. They cast special memories for anyone who loves Pakistan and its culture.
thx very much!. i am 18 and i love these kinds of songs, i have been looking for this video for years! thx very much! Nice song from my all time Folk Paki singer, Indians copied this song and produced what?
"Sub kea baratein Aaien, tum bhee doly laykur aana"
PakRythems 4 years ago 4
yea...i realized that too...
it was from the movie 'janam samjha karo' which had salman khan and urmila..
interestingly, i also think it resembles that old hindi song..'ichak dana, bichak dana'
lol..or i might be wrong..
smritimehta 3 years ago
u r right, it resembles. but the original version of this punjabi song "bajre da sitta" is much older than that hindi movie.
