Thank you John, as always, for sharing your awesome knowledge. Watching your videos, and reading your book "Teach Yourself Guitar Repair and Maintenance" has unlocked so much for me with my axes. I can't begin to be thankful enough!
So with that amazing bounty of praise I threw at you, could you be so kind as to tell us fans of yours what that oscilloscope tuning thing you have zip-tied to a platform is? And give us some other treats...I wish you were my neighbor! YOU ROCK!
@hopworks John is a true professional that we wish was employed by our team, but he has his own business. You can contact via his website CarruthersGuitars . com. (Really wish YouTube would let us post URLs here!)
Thank you John - This is an excellent series of videos and has helped my understanding immeasurably. It's given me the knowledge and confidence necessary to ensure my recently purchased and much beloved USA Special Strat (Candy Apple Red - Mmmmmm!) is correctly set-up - now and in the coming years.
@s4wgb Unfortunately, John Carruthers doesn't work for Elixir Strings (though it would come in handy if he did!). Not sure if it will help, but have you checked the videos he did for us on Bigsby and Tune-o-Matic? if they don't help, best advice is to ask a local repair shop or Fender directly. Best of luck!
Thanx for the info John; but what do I do if the open tuning is good, I then tune the intonation to the 12th fret, and then the open tuning goes out when I return to play chords? i'd appreciate your help.
@Eldererr yes tune guitar to open E on E string then fret the 12th fret and check .if it goes E sharpe then adjust bridge saddle longer ie turn screw clockwise so bridge saddle goes back, if its E flat adjust bridge saddle screw anti clockwise make the saddle go forward. do the same to the next string and so on.
