  • He has such a soft voice... yet such hard hits.. :D

  • Just listening to this guy without seeing his face would you think he was a football player

  • his voice could make me fall in luv wit him in an instant! <3

  • i like hearing him talk.... it puts me to sleep wit that soft voice Zzzz Zzzz Zzzz Zzzz Zzzz

  • @geronimogv1514 Yep his voice might put you to sleep, but not as fast as when he hits you on the football field!

  • he sounds like michael jackson

  • Won't be long until Marv's style of training becomes the norm in the NFL.

  • wow he seem well soft spoken but on the field he's a beast

  • wow! he sounds so sweet =D

  • for a football player hes pretty flexible 1:48 thru 2:03

  • @TheFriendlyThunder all nfl players are flexable

  • He Gotta Donk;) lol! gahahahaha Jokes..Polamaluz Bomb!

  • hes very careful and places much thought in what he says

  • wonder if Troy still does this....seems like it might cause an ohhh wait a sec...

isn't it kind of tough to miss the irony that a seemingly indestructible modern day warrior named TROY that played for the TROJANS ends up getting taken down by of all things an achilles... comedy.

  • @downonbarbe lol nice insight! I met Troy in Los Angeles at the Manhattan Beach Sand Dune he must have walked up 10 times...

  • @downonbarbe lol nice insight! I met Troy in Los Angeles at the Manhattan Beach Sand Dune he must have walked up 10 times...

  • if you don't like Marv's methods then don't do them!! don't watch the videos... continue with your normal lifting and continue to get your normal results... i've tried HALF of this stuff and i've never felt as fast or able to move my body in ways that i've been able to do lately.. i bet if the naysayers tried these workouts they would become believers quickly

  • i swear i can barely hear Him, i keep telling my computer what?!

  • where in socal is this gym

  • Marv is just a hack. This is the same guy who claimed he squatted over 1,000lbs and needed to hang shit off of the bar because he ran out of plates to put on it.

  • @Southpaw447 is correct. Marv is a hack, just read his book. This stuff is worthless.

  • what he's doin makes a lot of sense, but why did he say olympic lifts are slow moving? the clean and snatch are extremely explosive and require a mass amount of speed, flexibility, endurance and stability.

  • @pmilleroly27

maybe he got his power-lifts confused with his Olympic lifts

  • @pmilleroly27 because true plyometric according Yuri Verkhoshansky the father of plyometric the movement has to be executed in .010 a second and speed strength can only be trained with little external resistance, there are many different modality of strength, flexibility, and endurance. Olympic lift's aren't at all any type of the strength you need in sport's like track and ect. plus the constant tension, teach your body how to tense up and not relax, you don't want to play a sport tense

  • im not pro or against this stuff .. I was just answering your questioning, which elite athletes do this .. Bj Penn is another.

  • And LOL @ Troy saying Olympics lifts are slow movement. Has this guy even seen or done an O-Lift? My guess is no.

  • Comment removed

  • @NickC1973

    No it doesn't make sense.

And how often does a football player lay on a swiss ball kicking his feet in the air?

Just because a lift doesn't mimic a real life sports movement doesn't mean it provides no benefit.

Olympic lifts develop power by strengthening your legs, core, and your hips, which is where power is generated from.

  • @Southpaw447 Power is generated from your nervous system. The swiss ball creates instability which helps develop proprioception and kinesthetic awareness.

  • @NickC1973

    /facepalm

    You are clueless

  • "It's really awesome to see these kid's bodies"

  • marinovich is a waste of time. troy has been a beast all his life, a few workouts with marv doesnt prove anything. marv is plain wrong in his training methods. a waste of time for everybody

  • @rtw2k you obviously don't know anything before Marv Marinovich Troy Polomalu weighed: 220-215 ran a 4.64 in in his 40 had a bad 3 cone and was projected to be a 2 round pick after training with Marv he lost 15 pounds walks around at 209 ran a 4.43 in his forty and became the steelers 1st round pick you have given no basis to why Marv is wrong simply because he doesn't use a conventional system of training

  • @mpcc2022 read marv's book. he claims he squatted over 1000 lbs for 3 reps. an obvious lie like that should be all you need to know about him. he is clueless. the amount of unstable surface training he uses is beyond excessive. slow Oly lifts? get real. you think troy does this shit year round? no, because the steelers have a decent strength coach. troy would be great even with zero weight training. he is not a product of marvs "teaching".

  • @rtw2k dude I know Troy yes he does this year around, he uses teh ball work and has Iso machine in his garage 2 have you even used the training? I love skeptics who won't even go out on a limb and actually use a method or product before the come up with there own opinion. Next Marv got most of his stuff from Yuri Verkhoshanksy the Russian researcher who invented plyometrics. Go read super training and then form an opinion. 2 ask Troy and he will tell you the story, but believe what you want.

  • @AbdulJabar8000 Jared Allen? lmfao.. You must not watch football.. Troy is the best and he also has a Super bowl ring..

  • @TrueGreatness73

Having a Superbowl ring rarely means shit in terms of individuality. Football is a team sport and making it to the superbowl requires an overall strong and talented team. Never has a team made it to the superbowl on account of 1 player.

Troy is a superbowl champion because of guys like Ben, Ward, Holmes Woodley, not just Troy.

  • @Southpaw447 Your right about football being a team sport but that still does not hide the fact that Troy is the best DB in football history. You cant compare him to the past hall of famers because the talent live in football today is way better. By the way Marvs training focuses on explosiveness and I know many guys that have went through his program and felt a big increase in cardio and quickness. Troy as said it and also B.J Penn from the UFC. It has been proven already. I know biometrics.

  • I feel sorry for anyone who buys into Marv Marinovitch's bullshit training methods.

  • @Southpaw447 stop hating. It works for troy and troy is the best defensive player ever to play in the NFL.

  • @TrueGreatness73

So you think these retarded training methods are the only reason he's a good defensive player?

He's a good Saftey from practicing his craft, which is being a fucking safety, not doing 1/4 squats on a machine and slant board.

If you knew anything about training you'd know Marv is full of shit.

  • Comment removed

  • @NickC1973

How many athletes I've trained is irrelevant. Any elite strength coach will tell you Marv is full of shit.

If Marv's system was so revolutionary and really did what him, you and a few athletes here and there said it did, then more people would be doing it.

However more athletes, especially football players stick to heavy compound lifts and Olympic Lifts with plyos and other accessory exercises.

Troy is the exception, not the rule when it comes to this type of training.

  • Comment removed

  • @NickC1973

If the majority believes in it, and it works for the majority, then how can you argue against it?

Marv is a hack, plain and simple.

  • @Southpaw447 The majority is average, few are elite. Keep doing what you're doing and stay in the majority.

  • @NickC1973

Who exactly is elite that is doing this horseshit?

  • @Southpaw447 um the long haired guy in the video for starters ;)

  • @pugghead

Ever heard of the phrase "an athlete succeeds in spite of his training"?

Troy is a great safety because he knows the game and he has good instincts.

Troy is not a success because of this ridiculous training regimen.

    And this is one person.

  • Comment removed

  • @Southpaw447 ave you ever tried these workouts??? I' did Olympic lifting for years as well as other weight routines, nothing has even come close to making you as explosive as the Marinovich Training Systems. Prob be wise if you tried the workouts before bash them. LASTLY, the phrase"that athlete is good despite his training program" was quoted from Marv Marinovich. and again Troy is not the only athlete, yet you keep saying that. I think you're curious about this but don't understand it.

  • @NickC1973

Ever heard of the Placebo Effect, friend?

  • @Southpaw447 Ever heard of scientific data?

  • @Southpaw447

    Tyson Chandler

    Fili Moala

    BJ Penn

    Troy Polomalu

    Sam Baker

    Morgan Beck

    Steve Finely

    Legedu Naane

    need this to go on?

  • his hair is so epic

  • im jealous those lil kids get to sit aound and workout with troy polamalu

  • 1. Troy is the best defensive player in the NFL because nobody else can do the things he does.

    2. This is exactly why he keeps getting injured. He's training with fools. This training has it's place but should NOT be the foundation of your strength program.

    3. You do not become athletic from weight training. You become athletic from practicing your sport skill repetitiously. These clowns have him brainwashed into believing this is the only way to become athletic.

  • @SupremeSportsPT - Sorry, but you couldnt be more wrong. Troy was injured the majority of 2006 and 2007 and didnt have great seasons those years. Coincidentally, 2006 and 2007 were the only years he didnt do this training...he stayed with and worked out with the team in in the offseason. Before 2008, he went back to this and had his best season ever. Last year, he was only injured because Alge Crumpler fell on his knee. This training has done wanders for him.

  • @MiztaBlu Injuries are often the result of freak accidents...like Crumpler falling on him in the Titans game. However, with proper training via free weights, the body becomes more durable from the cellular level through the connective tissue, bones, & muscles. Troy incorrectly says that the OL are slow lifts. If they're slow, you're doing them incorrectly. It's true that you cannot replicate sport movements in the weight room but heavy weight training is key to strength & force production.

  • @MiztaBlu finally somebody who's knows what there talking about

  • @SupremeSportsPT 1. You just said it almost perfectly, Troy is the best defensive player because he does what nobody does, these workouts. Weight lifting is for the average athlete if you want to be a standout player you need to train the nervous system like Troy Polamalu, Steve Nash.......etc

  • okay totally didn't expect him to sound like that.... lol

  • Did he say the Olympic llifts are slow movements? oh boy...

  • @Kanes4life Squatting and Bench, cleans generally are not, dead lifts are. Wanna try that again? They aren't exactly fast twitch exercises, like what he is doing here.

  • @envee29 Where to begin. Olympic lifts consist of the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. I'll even include derivatives such as power cleans etc.

Fast twitch exercises? Really? It is clear you don't know what you are talking about. This is funny given your tone.

A heavy squat/bench/etc activate fast twitch muscle fibers.

What you are trying to refer to is training with fast movements with the objective of improving power. This can be done with Oly lifts, Westside style DE, sprints, etc.

  • was this video filmed at jserra high school

  • That weightlifting at 1:26 would probably be huge turn on if a hot ass babe was doing it. lmao

  • @XxKID1xX gay

  • can any one tell me what the machine is called at 0:53

  • he has a very meek soft voice hes very soft spoken reminds me of mj's voice

  • yet he is still an amazing fb player

  • @king6595 indeed he is :)

  • @diddypee10 i agree

  • @diddypee10 Reminds me of Kirk Hammett or Slash

  • @diddypee10 Yeah so was Tyson and look at we he did to people lol

  • it would help in my book

  • its called a joke

  • lol he talks like michael jackson except troy would tear my ass up and michael would try to TEAR my ass up =\

  • this is pretty neat. the lifting style he said towards the end.....thats what we do lol. maybe I should hit this up

  • ya you should try it. it is great. so many people think that just lifting heavy weights its the way to get bigger but its not. this work out has increased my muscle mass and my speed as well.

  • haha ya it helps it but nothing can stop it fully.

  • this is sports sciencelab in CA i have been doing their training for my highschool football team and have noticed a huge increase in all of the players in speed, strength, and injury prevention.

  • HA! Injury prevention? Troy has been out all season. Seems like a neat idea though!

  • If every football player trained like this, they would all be 40-50lbs. lighter.

    Squats are still king.

  • squats are lame, you squat with the weight on your heels, name one sport where you drive off your heels. If every football player trained like this they'd all be winning awards and breaking more records

  • tru Nick, feet and center of balance is almost everything, but at the end of the day u gotta put on bulk to knock ppl out and take hits, this alone wouldn't cutt it.

  • thats the old school thoght...yes it helps to be strong but speed is killer...all this new way if trainign is really paying of in the player who doit such as troy palumalu who is only 5'10 190 and still considered one of the best athelets there is let alon the best saftey...other then ed reed and brian dawkins but squats lightly r still godd but if your a stupid ass the go put 600 pounds of weight on your uer spin and knec...your key body parts to hitting and see were that takes you.

  • I have a feeling that palumalu has to be heavier than that. I like ur thought tho yo

  • Where do you find a gym like that??

  • Where do you find a gym like that??

  • As much as I respect Troy though I'm a Bengals fan, I hate his hair.

  • The trainer would have to fire himself, its a private gym. But yes, any new idea that goes against convention is utterly ridiculous. Good point.

  • Utterly ridiculous. The trainer should be fired.

  • Well spoken guy. I'm intrigued by these guys training method

  • Troy -

Consider adding squatprecision to each of Pittsburgh Steeler's squat racks for: an added safety feature and helping each player achieve the most productive / effecient squat depth. Steelers logo can be added to the device if the patch(es) are sent to us. Just google or do a quick utube search for sqautprecision to see a product video. Hope you achieve full knee recovery soon.

  • @Benching341 cool story hansel

  • These workouts look crazy wacky.

  • TROY RICKS!

  • nice matrix refrence

  • So cute!!!!

  • Get better Troy we need u on the field, not the same team without you being there. God Bless Bro!

  • goddam madden curse

  • long nice muscles lol

  • yup in some cultures your hair is part of your strength. -mental, spiritual... but for being soft spoken troy is an absolute beast.

  • He sounds like micheal jackson

    :o

  • fukah sound like michael jackson...i met em and his wife in person on maui after the pro bowl. hes super nice

  • Troy is a pure animal ultimate athlete

  • i mad how retard you sound just there. haha

  • great man

  • troy is building a house nere me

  • Troy is so softly spoken but get him on the pitch its a different story

  • Way to go SSL. I have got to try some of their training techniques.

  • troy is so dymanic hes the best saftie in the leauge

  • jesus christ! his toes are stronger than my arms.

  • do you know who this is?

  • Sampson?

  • yeah i know. i was replying to somebody else.

  • Yo the mop is the source of his strength. Polamalu is a beast...

  • I heard Troy Polamalu doesn't do the regular lifts. Like squats, Power clean, and bench. Is this true?

  • there's no way that he doesn't bench. every football player needs to have very strong chest muscles...i think he uses these workouts for explosiveness and agility while he uses the regular lifts for strength

  • I actually saw somewhere that he benches like an insane 430...he is strong as hell

  • That dude training him is the same dude who trained bj penn recently and bj came and destroyed kenny florian. I think bj has found him a new trainer. Go marv

  • His work outs are funny looking but they are great for football players because they help build power and speed!

  • yeah man that woman is very sexy lol!

  • aint he sexy tho!

  • This man is sexy!

  • well this "Fag" has 2 superbowl rings? As oppose to you?, you have how many?

  • Not the dude the people below my "fag" comment. The ones who was callin him sexy

  • he was talking about the girl i think

  • BJ Penn is doing this !!!

  • LMAO 1:25 looks like hes humpin someone but hes a beast man STEELERS FTW

  • Troy is the shit

  • the dude is a beast...

  • maybe he mean slow as in picking up big heavy weights acouple of times compared to do his fast paced lifting alot of times

  • Olympic lifts are slow, what the fuck???

  • best safety in the world

  • "In a lot of olympic lifts, everything is really slow movements.".....right....

This guy may be a beast, but he clearly knows shit all about weightlifting.

  • i agree, saying olympic lifts are slow is ass backwards. Try cleaning 315 slow....won't happen.

But this shit obviously works for him.

  • well you guys have the concept mest up it's not about doing it super fast or wather olympic lifst are slow it's that it only produces convetional strength and not athletic groth it does not promote balance nor flexibilty which a lack of can promote injury

  • mpcc, shut the hell up and read that copy of starting strength I sent you. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

"the fast twitch mucle fibers are not being used"-this sums up nicly the fact that you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Are you insane? Olympic weightlifting requires, promotes and improves flexibility above all else. Try to do a full depth overhead squat and see if it doesn't challenge your flexibility.

  • he said some olympic lifts, like the bench press, deadlift, and overhead press(former olympic lift) clearly you dont know shit about weight lifting

  • well the movement of the muscle is slow and a slow range of the muscle stretchin not that the lift it self is slow the fast twitch mucle fibers are not being used the athletic muscles in the body it's one thing to lift 200 pounds but it's another to lift your own body or throw 200 maybe you guys should research the sports lab first before you criticize

  • Oh yeah, thats why people with a huge vertical jump cant very often squat 3x times their bodyweight. OH WAIT! They do squat 3x their bodyweight...

  • that is called plyometrics,

  • it's called neuromuscular training and nervous system training not just plyometrics

  • Neither the bench press or deadlift are olympic lifts. The olympic lifts are the clean and Jerk and snatch. Both are the most explosive exercises you can do. Shutup and don;t ever tell anyone they don't know shit about lifting when you clearly know nothing yourself.

  • this shit may make you jump high and run fast but it doesnt build you for football...troy is a beast and arguably the best safety in the nfl but he gets hurt every year...i know a lot of football players that train with marv and they too get hurt every year...guys like ray lewis, brian urlacher, barry sanders, walter payton they all did it the old fashioned way just pumpin iron so i really dont think this will give you to much of an edge just makes you weak

  • So you know for a fact that Troy gets injured because of his training with Marv? Football is a violent sport and their are injuries that occur all the time. If you followed or knew about Troy you would know that the season that was wrecked by injuries was the only summer that he did not come home to train with Marv. You have also never trained with Marv and know nothing about what his training does for the body. Educate yourself about what his workouts do before you bash him.

  • yep

  • you're a dumbass that has no clue what the fuck you are talking about and that's all anyone needs to say about your post.

  • troy's a beast, they should make a new position just for him because he is so much more than a safety
