  • FYI: Other oil filters other than the Toyota ones have anti drainback valves. There are other quality filters that are as good or better than Toyota filters. Thanks for the video.

  • @cswaite8 tell toyota that one ...I had to sue them to get an 12,000 mile engine failure replaced because it had a wix filter on it , when it got towed in...

  • @towrecker thats whack. Just an excuse for them to not have to put in a new engine. Wix makes nice filters. lol.

  • @cswaite8 we both know this , but they can and will fight an engine warranty if it does not have there filter on it ...

  • Love the pepsi!

  • I wouldnt call it quick. I've seen people change engines faster than that. Why are you tightening the filter with a wrench? Every oil filter, service manual, repair manual, owners manual says hand tighten. Is it an import thing? Hell i even use my hand to remove the old filter.

  • @ninethourpm ever had one back off ?and almost kill a $20,000 mondello race engine? I did in my olds , I tighten the frig outa them , it don't hurt a thing , they can't leak , or back off that way , it just makes a change a little harder , no big deal...

  • @towrecker Nope over 200 filters and never had one back off.

  • @ninethourpm I only had the one do it , and about 500 bucks worth of damage to that engine , just in parts , made me wanna weld them on lol

  • @towrecker if your that worried about it you can get a k&n, you can tighten it with a socket wrench and run wire thru the hole. NHRA requirs it on some cars.

  • @ninethourpm I would run it bypass before I ran a k&n ....a sock in a can , they strain the oil thats about all , wix and baldwin war the only good oil filters out there ...and on my olds I bolted a piece of steel bar stock under a bell housing bolt bent to run along side the filter , and hose clamped the filter to it , to much $ there not to , after that mishap call me crazy , but it's always better to be safe to the point of over kill , than sorry , and picking up the pieces lol

  • @towrecker I use K&N on my motorcycle with no problems and i rev it to 11K rpm frequently. Mustang and Fusion get motorcraft. I used fram in my old ranger once..........now THAT filter is junk.

  • @ninethourpm orange can of death (fram) lol , cut open a k&n ...enough said ...

  • All modern day oil filters have Anti Drain Back Valves. The Toyota filter is not necessary.

just stay away from the orange can of death

  • @citrusflorida most filters for this app have either , no valve , or a spring valve , the toyota filters have a silicon valve ...cut some open and look at them , your opinion will change quick on filters , I cut every oil filter I use open to see what it caught ...but thats just something that drag racing will get you into lol

  • @towrecker I do cut open many of my filters. The valve in the back is the bypass valve for the release of high psi's under full throttle. The piece of rubber looking thing at the inlet hole is the anti drain back valve. I dare you to find a filter at discount auto parts that doesn't have one.

  • if you use natural oil you should change it if you drive the car or not. its natrual and will break down no matter what. nice vid brah.

  • @showmethedammovie on this car , it was not even started for months , only driven like 4 miles before I sold it , and changed the oil for the guy , if I had cared about the car things would have been other wise , it made me sick to even look at it ...ex wifes car ...ya know , and as for the car it also had ford synthetic in it , but i put what he wanted in it when I changed it ...just very happy it is gone lol

  • where is the jack stand?

  • @kemorc I could get under this car without the jack , if it came down I would have been fine , jacked it up to make the video , I also kept my head out from under it , I KNOW BAD PRACTICE , AND I RECOMMEND YOU USE ONE LOL both sets were under a crown vic I was doing a 4 wheel brake job on that day too lol

  • This is why I love Rednecks! They're friendly folks and they know how to work on cars.

  • you need to fill your filter with oil before screwing it back on

  • @pelonissafe no you don't.

  • @kemorc alright mr mechanic, do it your way

  • @pelonissafe I will, and will so millions of others that have angle/side mounted oil filters. There is not one video from Chrysler, FoMoCo, or GM that I watched in college that specified to fill a filter before you mount it. hell, even the filter manufacturers don't tell you to on their how to videos.

  • what happens to the oil that was drained?

Lets say i use regular oil and want to change it to synthetic oil(which i heard is better for the life of the vehicle), do i follow the same steps? Or is there more to it?

  • @Left0verCuRry well the oil that was drained most likely is still in my used oil drum , i dump it in the tank at the local recycle center when the drum is full , and as for swapping to synthetic oil the steps are the same and you still use the weights called for by the maker like (5w-20) or whatever ,they say you can go like 8000 between changes but I would not ,I would use plain old oil and change every 3000 ,but thats me ,I think the syn stuff is a over priced gimmic really ....

  • that 2.4 is a great motor

  • When I worked on those things I had to do the same things. Im getting bad memories. lol
