I disagree about the fingernails. They are not "disgusting," they are "real" and connected to the fingers and produce a good tone.

They give feedback, not produce feedback.

Cats my have them, so do lions, cheetahs, mountain lions, and Sigourney Weaver in "Aliens". And some great guitarists.

I don't discount picks, but a plectrum is ONE surface, nails four,or five. Rheinhardt did fantastic with two, but others have done fantastic with four or five.
