  • Honestly, again, the kid is kinda cute. :)

  • Wait! No one was controlling Mario in the system offer part! POLGERGIEST!!!!!!!!!!!

  • $79.97? Jesus! No wonder why it was such a huge hit!

  • @TheYoNate accounting for inflation $80 back then is about $200 now.

  • OK, this might be weird, but I don't care, but... I think the kid's kinda cute. :)

  • positive this guy is a game freak, like me :L

  • $79.97 for the NES at Toys "R" Us in 1980s aren't similar to the same price with 2 cents more on the GBA SP in 2005 at the same place, dude. The Zapper got a near-20 since it's a controller for games like Duck Hunt..We hardly seen them today. As Fun Stuff Inc., we did, indeed.

  • @TheSleepClips Actually this is well after the NES launch. When it first came out in "85" there were 2 bundles one for 199.99 and one for 249.99

  • 79.97 is a weird price lol

  • Lol, unopened super mario 3 goes for over 1000$ on ebay. If I would have known.

  • I wish I could sell my PS3 in the 80's :(

  • A game console for $80? Games for $30? Holy shitting nipple dicks, do want!

  • @Chikunnism Gotta remember gas wasnt $4.00 a gallon either. in 1980 it was more like $1.00 a gallon

  • @Chikunnism things were cheaper back then...

  • @Chikunnism Yeah, those were the good ol' days.

  • Nice Ad

  • i just came back from toys r us they were sold out

  • What year was this where the NES was $79?

  • Getting a NES at Toys-R-Us is in fact better than winning the Super Bowl. This is a COLD HARD FACT.

  • and its now onsale at the goodwill near you! for an amazing price of 79 cents, in fact no... ill pay you to have it!

  • 80 bucks for a NES? damn.

  • I remember this like it was yesterday, man you were hi-tech back in the 80's, not to mention, that you were one of the "cool" kids on the block. GOOD TIMES! =)

  • What a good deal!

  • Wonder how much this would be worth now

  • :18 it says batteries not included. i would NEVER buy an nes unless it came with the batteries

  • They should of had this advert for the Sega dreamcast.

  • I dreamed I won a copy of Tecmo Super Bowl and then dreamed I won the Super Bowl. That is a good dream.

  • Yeah Toys R Us... I'll never outgrow that place. It's still fun to go in there from time to time even though I'm a teen.

  • Wow, this makes me miss my childhood. I wish games were still this cheap.

  • Yeah fuck the super bowl. SNORE!! Play Tecmo Super Bowl on NES instead. (and I hate football, so I must really love TSB to recommend it!)

  • I had a better dream

    A WET DREAM!

  • @TheArcCaster I had a wet dream and it was this commercial

  • their NES system costed $79.97? my NES was $60.00 plus shipping and it came with 2 controllers, the Nintendo Zapper, and like 15 games

  • @thevideogamenerd100 Well you have to remember this was when it was brand new

  • Lol 'control deck.'

  • Lol 'control deck.'

  • Has anyone else noticed that the NES looks smaller in the commercials than it does in person?

  • Batteries? The NES basic set didn't use batteries. They must have been thinking of the Deluxe set with R.O.B. And the commercial shows the old time grey Zapper.

  • Man Toy 'R' Us was WAAAAAAY better in the 80s...you could spead all day there playing with so many toys!!!!!! I miss those times!!!!!

  • this thing is more expenive today

  • i dreamed busting balls of that guy

  • Ha I OUTGROW you :D

  • little creepy

  • Seperate lightgun??? MY nes came with the lightgun included.

  • @John231984 yeah they had 3 sets 1 had mario with the 2 controlers and 2 is the same with duck hunt and the gun and 3 is the ROB robot thing

  • @Back2DaFuture98 There were alot more than 3 system packages ( more like 7)

    1.The Control Deck

    2.The Deluxe Set

    3.The Power Set.

    4.The Challenge set

    5.The Basic Set .

    6.The Sports Set bundle

    7.The NES Action Set

  • @trueslugger never heard of the last 4 the most common one is the action set

  • @Back2DaFuture98 Yes it was the most common! Just thought I would throw out some retro info!!!

  • NES pwned 2600, 5200, 7800, Master System, Colecovision, Odyssey, Odsyssey 2, Astrocade, Intellivision, Intellivison 2, Commodore 64, and so many Pong clones.

  • batteries not included? what the hell would you need batteries for?

  • @outkastdashit Good question. And since I'm staring at my NES right now, I don't see any place to put batteries anyway.

  • Nintendo ruled the fucking world back then.

  • why the fuck do i wanna bye batteries for my nintendo !

  • @Hittman305 hes right u know the prices were good

  • I'm 26 & still is a Toys'R'Us kid

  • @kingamer19 I'm 28 and I bought Poke'mon: Black at Toys R Us. I feel I'm only 8.......well I did until I saw a 10 year old buying something there. That made me feel old. Then I saw an 8-8 year old at Wal-Mart asking for COD: WaW. That made me feel like was 3.

  • Interesting how this is nostalgia to my generation. Every gen. should have some nostalgia!

  • Seriously? Is getting an NES really better than winning the Super Bowl?... What am I saying?! OF COURSE IT IS!

  • @RedLightBulbs Getting a NES with Tecmo Super Bowl is better than winning the real Super Bowl.

  • The first game console I bought with my own money!

  • I like video games, but winning the Super Bowl is a better dream you dumb little shit.

  • I was playing Zelda, Excitebike, Teenage mutant Ninja turtles 1&2the arcade game, ice hockey and Tcmo Super Bowl yesterday!!' I love my NeS.. Also.. They NEVER DIE!!! cheap and almost indestructable. Lol

  • My parents got me one in 1987... Theyre the best parents ever! :)

  • @F3shotF i told my dad that i had that dream, when my dad came from work boom my first nes !!!!!! daing !!!! what a fucking great day !!! luv ya dad !

  • 80 bucks! cost me about 40 just to fill my gas tank...

  • 79.00 for a game console? would never happen now! lol Thats whats up

  • be a 360 fanboy on here or say nintendo sucks im freaking flagging you and kicking your ass

  • JUST 80 BUCKS??

    wow

  • The NES should be 7999.66

  • @LinksGamingHammerBro I'd still buy it.

  • @LinksGamingHammerBro or over 9000

  • Monitor and Batteries not included. >_>

  • Holy shit! I'd pay $29.99 for Zelda!

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • It's funny how back then, new games were 29.99. Now their $60. Is it rising production costs?

  • @HowPettyful haha obviously. back then a game was like less than 3MB in size and could probably be made in a couple months. Now it takes years and millions of dollars

  • @DeliciousDave444 months and years for a bunch of rubbish...

  • @HowPettyful If you adjust to inflation, 29.99 dollars back then is about 59.99 dollars for today. So... no, nothing has changed.

  • bet you $5 that kid is a drug addict now

  • wow 80 bucks not bad lol

  • @latintiger might round off to $200 now days which nintendos should be more than $50 on ebay should be 1000s cause people have bad taste in classics...

  • @EKmion agreed

  • if i was about the age of that kid who saw the big giraffe looking at me with smoke on the floor i wouldve been like "HOLY S#@!!!!!!! THERE'S A GIANT GIRAFFE IN THE TOY STORE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that kid would rather have an NES then play in the nfl and win the superbowl while getting paid millions >.>

  • $147.66 for the system and game when adjusted for inflation....

  • 0:09 - 0:15

    PedoGiraffe

  • you wanna hear a joke

  • $80? Thats the same price for a good used NES on ebay!

  • lol ahhh the nostalgia.

  • gd the game ind are greedy now!

  • I outgrew it. Liars.

  • back then, you got high for Toys R US.

  • what batterys?

  • 79.99...cheap!!!!!

  • "I dream I won the super bowl!" "I had a wetter dream" O_o'?

  • wow too bad toys r us is dying if not completely dead

  • I had a better dream. I opened a door in the middle of nowhere that lead to a place filled with shelves that never seemed to end, was covered in fog, and was dimly lit. Also, there was a creepy giant monster vaguely resembling a giraffe, who took me by the hand and lead me around the place for all eternity.

Yeah, I clearly had the better dream.

  • @SergeantLuke Did he ask you for $3.50 cause I think we had the same dream? lol

  • This commercial must be late in the Nes's history because game cartridges are only 29.95 each

  • @zeldajunkielol2 1988 :P

  • @dustYCartridge Nice!

  • @zeldajunkielol2 You're forgetting to adjust for inflation which, by today's money standards, would put the NES console at around $150 and each game at $50.

  • @zeldajunkielol2 They made an SMS version of this commercial as well. I'd say this was circa 1988.

  • @whattheheck1000 I've seen that one.

  • @zeldajunkielol2

    Nintendo - Good

    Sega - Good

  • @Hittman305 Lol its like

    Hey, I dreamed I had a Ps3

I had a MUCH better dream... NES RULES PS3 FANBOYS

  • Mine came witha monitor...

  • we need a time machine dammit

  • You are sooooooo right

  • 0:18 it seems my nes runs off of batteries.

  • @mustardman32

They were probably referring to the R.O.B. accessory.
