  • I was living in Independence at the time of the flood. I am actually from there and lived there for 27 years before moving to Joplin two years ago. This slide show is done VERY WELL and props to you, bullpup44, for making it. It took a lot of work on your part. God was really with us the day of that flood and we should all be thankful to him for it. Trust me, if God wasn't there things could have been A LOT worse. Believe that!

  • @ 4:30 thru 4:37 it almost came up to my house, i was helpin a friend pack her stuff when she was bout to get flooded and my mom called me and told me i better come home and start packin my stuff was pretty scary

  • my grandparents live in caney, a small city right next to coffeyville. My sister and I went up there to see our grandparents and we could not get to their house for 3 days because all 3 main highways were closed. Thankfully, my grandparents are fine and did not loose anything. My heart goes out to the victims.

  • For who don't know elk city is the one who caused the flood in southest kansas. Sorry for all who lost homes. please keep kansas in prater

  • nice clip ... one of the best ones and sent it to my friends and family about our flooding .... great job .. and thank you since I dont have a cam.

  • what are you up to??

  • SE Kansas got lucky. My prayers go to all the victims. Because even those who didn't lose anything are victims. They have to live with the effects too. I am amazed at the effects of this flood but just goes to show SE Kansas doesn't give up. Look at how fast they are coming back from it and rebuilding.

  • This made me cry... my prayers are with all of the victims...

  • Thank you for shooting a great story about a horrible Mother of all floods. I grew up in Indy and have family in Coffeyville. Our love and prayers are with you! Through your Bulldog grit & guts and Faith you'll more than make it!

  • Thank you for putting together this video and music. These are the first pictures I've seen of all the flooding in Southeast Kansas. Just about all of my extended family lives in Southeast Kansas.

Thank you sooo much for this inspiring video. I still have tears in my eyes.

Blessings to All for Strength and a renewed Spirit.

  • Yeah you'd think something as powerful as god could be a little more selective in whom he PUNISHES in order to deliver that "wake up call".

  • Who are you to say who should get PUNISHED? No one died and yes there is a lot of distruction but lets be thankful that those things can be replaced, you can't.

  • Bullpup44, fantastic job of putting the music & video together. THANK GOD NO ONE , I repeat, NO ONE WAS KILLED NO HURT DURING THESE FLOODS. I too live in Independence, KS & I really believe that GOD HAD & HAS HIS EVER LOVING & GENTLE HAND ON US ALL (including the surroundng areas)!! IN GOD WE TRUST!!!!

  • I really appreciate that Christian music with this video. You did a wonderful video thank you for your witnessing with the disaster. Thank you

  • Funny how you don't see the irony in posting the disaster footage along with christian music. So was god on vacation during the flood and now we are supposed to go to him for help? I'm just trying to understand the connection. god is either a cruel ass or he isnt at all. can't be explained otherwise.

  • First of all, I am sorry that you seem to just blame the bad things of this world on God. Yes, he allowed the flood to happen. Yes, he could have kept it from happening. But, No he didn't. This "disaster" is a part of His plan to test some people's faith and possibly give others a wake up call to let them know that He is still God. If anyone chooses to earnestly seek God for help from this tradegy then He will be faithful and bless the faithful with open arms.

  • I believe God doesn't "hurt us" to be a mean God but he disciplines us like a parent disciplines their kid for their own good so that their reward will be great later when they become more wise. God is preparing a perfect reward for anyone who follows him, heaven, and he will do what it takes to give people every opportunity to find him and draw closer to him through every situation;good and bad. Basically, what Im saying is to try to find the good that will come from this.

  • Remember, God loves you and everyone else in this world. His glory will be revealed. Hopefully, someday, you too will experience His amazing grace. I'll be praying for you and everyone else who sees this event as a cruelity from God. feel free to contact me for any more questions or concerns. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

  • That is unbelievable! We lived in Independence for 7 years and I recognized most of those places that are underwater now. WOW! Praying for all of you.

  • I lived in Independence until I graduated HS and I still cosider it home. My parents no longer live there, but it is they're home also. We are praying for you all! Stay strong.

  • Thank you so much for sharing your pictures. i was born in Independence and now live in CO. Theres not enough on the news to really see what is going on. You even have a pic of what was once my grandpas fields, scary to see the river that close to cement street. Thanks again and be safe everyone

  • The farmers lost thousands of acres and livestock. Entire operations were swept away. We'll do just fine. We're all pulling together. Fredonia, Neodesha, Indy, Coffeyville, and our friends in OK and TX. We're what most people consider red-necks, farm people, hicks and fly-over country, but you won't find a better bunch when trouble hits us all. Thanks everyone, everywhere.

  • First of all, it was a very nice video. I have several photos of the flooding in Neodesha, but I'm not all that informed as to how to post them.

With that said, we have lost at least 40 homes, more likely much more, but damage assessment will take place after the water recedes even more. Several industries have been hammered hard, but workers showed up ready to clean up the mess. No one told them they had to.

  • I have additional info on Neodesha.

  • Thanks bullpup for this labor of love. It is heartbreaking to watch it, but somehow uplifting also. My parents live in Neody on Ohio St. and have water in their house, but everyone there is okay. Thankful its not worse. Belongings are always replaceable.

  • i hear ya there. i have a lot of friends in everytown hit... we here in Caney are praying for all of the victims.

  • Would you by chance be able to post them in a photobucket album, or put them on one of the groups or something. My face book is the same name as this.

  • yeah. i'll get an album made soon. My facebook name is Kendall Roper

  • We just moved to Fort Sill from Neodesha 10 months ago. Thank you for the video, it's nice to know what exactly happened and how bad it really is. Is Mill Street (Neodesha) underwater? We have family in Neodesha, Indepdendence and Coffeyville. We are praying for everyone. Please be careful.

  • East Mill, east of the hospital was hit hard, but it didn't get past the hospital block.

  • Hey, where did you find the pictures of Coffeyville at?

  • googled some and most were from my friends on facebook...

  • No water. No fireworks. No 4th of July.

    No deaths so far.

City industries are under as well. Some industries are facing terrible losses.

This is a community will only about 3300 folks. Mostly industry workers.

  • Water came to within 1/2 block of the hospital.

Hospital was evacuated first to Parsons.

    Nursing home second.

Neodesha has had many many residences flooded.

This is the worst flood in city history.

21" fell in 9 hours, plus whatever North.

SE kansas is in crisis. Fortunately, the crest has passed and the waters will recede.

Fredonia has no power or water.

Coffeyville's east side is flooded terribly.

    Nearby resevoirs are over capacity.

  • that is terrible. we WILL recover tho... :)

  • Great video!

My father works for Prestige in Neodesha.

My mother works at the hospital and is also City Commissioner.

Here's a few facts relating to Neodesha.

  • do you know if neodesha got hit? how bad?

  • yes they did. they are in pretty bad shape! no power or clean running water! no way out either! pray for them

  • I want to say Thank you for the songs that you put to the video, it just reminds us that we are truly blessed for that we are still here to tell the story.

  • welcome. i thought it fit well too.

  • Hey! I'm from fredonia kansas and i witnessed the flooding...and this video did an EXCELLENT portrayal of it. It's absoloutley amazing! Great Job!!!!
