  • you haven't lived until you've been whacked in the ass by a wiffle-ball bat wielding Bob Pollard while standing at a urinal- "LOOK ALIVE!"

  • what the hell is Willem Dafoe doing in that poster?

  • great video. thanks pps

  • is it weird that im a 15 yr old girl i like GBV..because i only see really old men here

  • @bobngo10 No. They are a very appealing band. I know a three-year-old who likes Propeller.

  • @UGLYFATASSREPUBLICAN its because I wanted to go to their reunion tour when they came to SF but no one wanted to go with me cuz no one knew them and my sister told me it would be a lot of older men there (probably drunk)and not a lot of teens..lol

  • @bobngo10 I was at that SF show and there were tons of young people. I was one of the few "older men (probably drunk)" up front, in fact...

  • I always never felt a thing toward any of these guys, except for Bob. They're not the real GBV and they never had the same aura to them. I'm so happy that the classic line-up is touring again and the true band is really together again. It makes the "reunion" in this video have much less impact to it. Which it should have.

  • @CityOfDaughters Actually, that's Greg Demos playing guitar in the left hand corner. But whatever. Glad you got the reunion you wanted. I like all GBV eras.

  • more of this gig please!!

  • I have watched this video many times, but tonight for some reason I got fixated on the faces of the guys backing up Bob. They look so amazed and happy. It just added a whole other dimension of enjoyment.

  • Looks like a hell of a party.

  • Love it!!!!

  • Best time I ever had was at this place. Bob and his people are the finest human beings on the planet. Without question.

  • Joyous

  • Nobody but GBV could make 50 people at a picnic sound like 50,000 in an arena. Amazing.

  • not the best show to pick up a chick.

  • Women don't listen to good music. Try an Evanescence concert.

  • Excuse me? Yes we do.

  • Joke.

  • No you were right the first time

  • Is that jim in the back?

  • Thanks for the record.

  • What an anthem! This video makes me happy and nostalgic. GBV! GBV! GBV! GBV!

  • stole some of their beer backstage at a louisville show, met Bob & co. very gracious, excellent show/s

  • the club is open

  • fuck yes

  • I agree. the best band that ever lived, next to The Who.

  • Have a good night. I will dream of having a drink with ole Bobby!

  • The Greatest band That ever lived next to The Breatles They are 1 & 2 Nothing else can quite Compare to either

  • no one is better than the breatles!

  • Pardon the typo The Beatles Man & GBV there are very few bands that even come close,

  • super awesome!

  • Jesus, how small is that venue, and not the good kind of small. It's a shame that such an amazing band are restricted to there or was it intentional?

  • "bad small"? ah ... this a party for their friends. they weren't even on the bill.

  • Oh I see! Sorry, my mistake :P

  • Dear moron- it's a party.

  • Dear other moron,

Have you seen the other replies?

    I've already been corrected.

I realise I was pretty stupid to start with lol

  • Also, I can hardly believe my eyes ... A GBV reunion show?! Fucking awesome! Miss you tons Uncle Bob.

  • Ridiculously good!

  • Gbv is the greatest rockband ever. Bob is a amazing!

  • Gostaria muito de ter visto o Guided ao vivo, Robert Pollard simplesmente se transforma, as singelas canções viram hinos, talvez pela vertente punk do mesmo.

  • STOP - Reunion? Can I believe my eyes? they really played a show together again? all original members?

  • songs u can sing at the top of your lungs...that's what makes em great...GBV forever...

  • I lived in Dayton for much of the 90's and lived with Dan Toohey for a few years - he played bass on Fast Japanese Spin Cycle, Propeller and Vampire on Titus - Bob, his brother Jim, Tobin, and Mitch would rehearse and practice in our house all the time. Most of Bee Thousand, Under the Bushes, and Alien Lanes were written in my basement. I toured with GbV for years in the back of this old van selling shirts and tapes and setting shit up. When Tobin and Mitch left, it was my graduation time too

  • Wow, just to know that most of Bee Thousand, Under the Bushes, and Alien Lanes were written in your basement is freaking awesome.

  • i could watch this all day

  • AWESOME! Thanks for posting

  • Nice. Thanks for posting!

  • Disarm the settlers. The new drunk Drivers..Guided by Voices Forever!!!!

    Nonoy of The Happiest/Davao/Philippines

  • Unbelieveable!! It seemed as if the whole crowd of picnickers knew this song! Bob and GVB must have had a hard on for a moment..even through the endless amount of beer! Great music getting you off..or high(Glad Girls etc.)Whiffle ball bat? OUCH!

  • This Video Gets Me All Misty Eyed.

  • my last comment was in reply to lunamermaideyes. i messed up.

  • look at all those old farts. i love GbV.

  • what`s the song name?

  • A Salty Salute. The first song off the 90's classic Alien Lanes.

  • Who gave this less than 5 stars?

  • I challenge every concert-goer who hates crowds that sing along to watch this and not immediately retract their views on the subject.

  • Where's Tobin Sprout?

  • best. band. ever.

how do i get invited to an impromptu picnic with gbv?

  • best. band. ever.

how do i get invited to an impromptu picnic with gbv?

  • It's awesome to see that they had a reunion. When my dad was alive it was his favorite band and I remember him saying in the hospital that when he died they would be singing "A Salty Salute" for him when he reached heaven. So this video means a lot to me.

  • thats really sweet.

  • that's so sweet. i bet they did. your dad was cool. sorry for your loss.

  • my god, this is heaven for a far away GBV fan.......great vid and yes, probably the best video around here!

    It's open

  • the bus will get you there yet

  • Bob pollard and Perry Farrell

    My two spirit guides..

  • bob pollard is the BOSS!

  • i'm sure that's bruce springsteen isn't it?

  • The most underrated rock band.

  • amazing

  • one of the best

  • whoever gets it i love and whoever doesn't i don't trust

  • THE CLUB IS STILL OPEN...even after it officially closed. GBV forever!

  • Best vid on youtube

  • RULING CLASS!!

  • Easily one of the best, if not, THE best bands I've ever seen live.

  • this is wonderful.. Mr. Pollard saved me from getting kicked out of a bar in Halifax, nova scotia. at the Marque Club back in 2001?.. great band great alwalways..b

  • Effing quality!

GBV blokes of the world unite!

  • grande formally from dayton oh says i miss jimbo , captian chris not the fucking PINE CLUB and of course bob and gbv

  • Indeed!

  • DISARM THE SETTLERS!!!!!

  • I get goosebumps !

  • remake the young flyer!

  • i love all bob's solo records, but gbv should still keep going even if on a part time basis.

  • yeah, being there for this is something you'd never forget. god i love these guys

  • BOB IS GOD!!!!!!

  • This just about made me cry. I love these guys.

  • Robert Pollard loves us and wants us to be happy!

  • Hell yeah! Guided By Voices is the best American Band that ever walked the face of this planet. Husker Du, The Minutemen, Dinosaur Jr--all great....but GBV is in another class. I miss them--but Im glad Pollard hasent given up--Silverfish Trivia was awesome and the Takeovers BAD FOOTBALL makes me happy. So what if they owe alot to the Who? Anyone who hates on GBV just doesnt the essence of rock and roll. And thats SAD.

  • Don't worry, I wasn't saying the Who influence was a bad thing. GBV is one of my favorite bands -- I was just pointing out that the 80's underground punk stuff had little to do with the existence of GBV, and that Pollard and crew would be a-rockin' without them.

But this video: This makes me ridiculously giddy.

  • THE F**** CLUB IS OPEN

  • hells yeah!

  • GBV! GBV! GBV!

  • Chris Slusarenko on bass, Greg Demos on lead, Nate Farley on guitar, and Jim MacPherson on drums.

"the bus will get you there yet... IT DID!"

  • and Bob Pollard on vox/ whiffle ball bat.

  • Is Mr Demos sitting down playing bass??

I was in the same English class as he.

(ps: how'd you like my correct English??)

  • Where is this? I'm a Dirty d-town native myself.

  • Who are on Bass and Drums?

  • Read the tags.

  • GBV! GBV! GBV! GBV!

  • HO-LEE SHIT

  • The greatest American band ever.

  • Definitely one of them. Don't forget Husker Du, Replacements, minutemen, Dinosaur Jr., etc., without whom, GBV could not exist.

  • Hmm. Someone's been reading a bit too much Our Band Could Be Your Life.

GBV owes a little more to The Who than any of these bands, man.

  • greatest weekend of my life

  • They're an institution.

  • In Bob we trust.

  • YESSSSS!

Thanks for posting that .... anything else from Heedfest going up here?

  • it would be very very great

  • how great would it be to see them just 1 more time.
