@UGLYFATASSREPUBLICAN its because I wanted to go to their reunion tour when they came to SF but no one wanted to go with me cuz no one knew them and my sister told me it would be a lot of older men there (probably drunk)and not a lot of teens..lol
I always never felt a thing toward any of these guys, except for Bob. They're not the real GBV and they never had the same aura to them. I'm so happy that the classic line-up is touring again and the true band is really together again. It makes the "reunion" in this video have much less impact to it. Which it should have.
@CityOfDaughters Actually, that's Greg Demos playing guitar in the left hand corner. But whatever. Glad you got the reunion you wanted. I like all GBV eras.
I have watched this video many times, but tonight for some reason I got fixated on the faces of the guys backing up Bob. They look so amazed and happy. It just added a whole other dimension of enjoyment.
Gostaria muito de ter visto o Guided ao vivo, Robert Pollard simplesmente se transforma, as singelas canções viram hinos, talvez pela vertente punk do mesmo.
I lived in Dayton for much of the 90's and lived with Dan Toohey for a few years - he played bass on Fast Japanese Spin Cycle, Propeller and Vampire on Titus - Bob, his brother Jim, Tobin, and Mitch would rehearse and practice in our house all the time. Most of Bee Thousand, Under the Bushes, and Alien Lanes were written in my basement. I toured with GbV for years in the back of this old van selling shirts and tapes and setting shit up. When Tobin and Mitch left, it was my graduation time too
Unbelieveable!! It seemed as if the whole crowd of picnickers knew this song! Bob and GVB must have had a hard on for a moment..even through the endless amount of beer! Great music getting you off..or high(Glad Girls etc.)Whiffle ball bat? OUCH!
It's awesome to see that they had a reunion. When my dad was alive it was his favorite band and I remember him saying in the hospital that when he died they would be singing "A Salty Salute" for him when he reached heaven. So this video means a lot to me.
this is wonderful.. Mr. Pollard saved me from getting kicked out of a bar in Halifax, nova scotia. at the Marque Club back in 2001?.. great band great alwalways..b
Hell yeah! Guided By Voices is the best American Band that ever walked the face of this planet. Husker Du, The Minutemen, Dinosaur Jr--all great....but GBV is in another class. I miss them--but Im glad Pollard hasent given up--Silverfish Trivia was awesome and the Takeovers BAD FOOTBALL makes me happy. So what if they owe alot to the Who? Anyone who hates on GBV just doesnt the essence of rock and roll. And thats SAD.
Don't worry, I wasn't saying the Who influence was a bad thing. GBV is one of my favorite bands -- I was just pointing out that the 80's underground punk stuff had little to do with the existence of GBV, and that Pollard and crew would be a-rockin' without them.
you haven't lived until you've been whacked in the ass by a wiffle-ball bat wielding Bob Pollard while standing at a urinal- "LOOK ALIVE!"

@bobngo10 No. They are a very appealing band. I know a three-year-old who likes Propeller.

@bobngo10 I was at that SF show and there were tons of young people. I was one of the few "older men (probably drunk)" up front, in fact...
