I play guitar, too. Mostly classic rock which was the era I grew up in. Always loved Tower and saw him live several times in the late 70's. Love your cover! Nice tone! Excellent phrasing!!! Totally rocks!!! Just like Robin. Definitely!
I 've never bothered to leave a comment before, but having just spent last night playing along to a couple of Trower albums myself I can say that you did capture the Trower magic here, and even with midi drums! Good job
when jimi passed on didnt think anyone could take the reigns..... but waitin in the wings was robin trower ,bluesy spaced out guitar and dewars cool vocals,... well i liked this better than all the other trower covers on u tube
I'm still trying to figure out what is COOLER........the music or the slide show! You have got the whole Trower thing down to a T!!!! I got to play my wife's cousin's '62 sunburst Strat (in near mint condition) and it sounds and plays like Honey!!! I can't wait to get my hands on it......someday!!!!
AWESOME!!! Love the old Strats and fortunately passed on my love to guitars to my son...let's hear more great licks like that from you! Killer music !
I saw Trower about 4 times from '75 to '05-truly aged well musically speaking!
Luckily I happen to be one of the people who dig the fuck outta the old stuff ! Plus , I love Trower's playing which you did a really great job of capturing ! 5 stars baby ! You've nailed the tone, the style and the vibe AND treated us all to some nice vintage Strat photos. Who could ask for more ?
Wow! You have Trower's vibrato. Wow! I get the feeling like you can cut loose a bit more though. You seem reserved on the big solo. Not criticizing, but you seem too clean if you get my drift...not pushing yourself.
By the way, you're one of the few guitarists I learned of who uses a heavier string gauge. I've been using 11s, 12s and even 13s from the beginning and still have my first amplifier, a Gorilla. I recently cleaned its potentiometers and jacks, and the sounds are even better.
Thank you for your piece. It reminded me of when I started playing guitar in 1986 on a tri-color sunburst Harmony Stratocaster copy with a warped neck that hardly remained in tune. More importantly, near that time I bought a copy of the now defunct "Guitar For The Practicing Musician" magazine that contained the transcription of "Too Rolling Stoned." I was instantly intrigued by the song and its guitar nuances and never did forget those opening lyrics.
hi dom its ANDY .you guys tore up hard rock cafe ,god if you ever want to hear amazing guitar playing ,listen to STEVE,RONNIE,AND DOMONIC ...THEY JUST TEAR UP THE RULE BOOK .AMAZING !!! SEE YOU SATURDAY DUDE ,ALL THE BEST ANDY FROM RYPT
I liked everything about that! Great playing, you even do a real good job on the vocals. Not easy to match up to James Dewar,(no one can) but you made it your own. Mega cool.
Thank you very much !! I listed all the stuff i am using in the video description. It is an amp made by a company called Nolan in around 1968 - my friend bought it in 1972 and i used it on and off since 1980. It is a 50 watt valve head - inside it looks like a cross between a marshall and a selmer - the photos of the amp chassis are in the video.
You won't know the amp - it was made by a company called Nolan in about 1968/9..similar to a Selmer or Marshall..hard to say...never found another that sounded like this one. It has 2xEL34s and 3 ECC83s..then I put it thru a 2x12 Celestion Cab. The first part of the solo is without the overdrive.
well done sir.

Curious, the 56 RI strat has the same neck pickup as the RT sig strat - the custom 50s, and you changed them out? Great job though.

This is by FAR my favorite song I ever covered in a band. I sure wish I still had that band too becasue I enjoy playing it so much.
Man your playing is spot on, and the tone is immaculate. Great tribute to da man.
I'm smiling ear to ear. Nice collage of vinty strats as well.

Robin is Robin. He has a style all his own. Lets give the man credit for being ahead of the guitar tone curve.

Your bent string vibrato is wicked. Almost sounds like it is being done with the vibrato arm, but I see you have it blocked.
Excellent!
