Bach Partita No. 2 played by Schneiderhan - 5 Chaconne 1/2

I have downloaded 43 different versions of this Bach's Chaconne from YT. Playing them all one after another for a whole day purifies the soul. Thanks for no. 44, it is indeed a very beautiful recording. And it is by no means too slow, it is perfect!

I`ve allways prefered Millsteins and Heifetz interpretation but this is outstanding. Just beautiful.

Depuis 50 ans je ne m'en lasse pas et pour moi il reste le meilleur. Avec son interpretation, j'ai l'impression que l'on s'elève sans cesse ,sans atteindre le but , comme une asymptote. Cela touche ce qu'il ya de plus profond en nous

Phantastisch!!! No comparisson with anyone, I'm a violinst, and with lot of respect i can always hear that Mr. Schneiderhan was really a truly well reader of the music of any composer, he plays, in a perfect tempo and such an intonation+interpretation!!! I wish to improve that so badly!! He was a Great violinplayer, a real Musician after all!!! Thanks for posting!! u.

HAHA habe selten über so ein Kommentar hier auf Youtube gelacht. Es gibt in der Musik keine Regel und 2 einer der bedeutensten Geigenspieler (Vengerov,Perlman) spielen es zum teil sogar langsamer also erzähl hier mal nicht so ein quatsch.

Instantly captures my attention with his intensity but then grabs my emotion with his sensitivity. However, not even close to the league of Milstein's imo. Then again, that is my favorite recording of all time from any violinist. Unfair comparison for sure.

@aimson I agree with you. I believe it has to do with the fact that you can emotionally connect to the purpose ('spirit') of the masterpiece. But not my favorite. Milstein was able to really connect to it.

addendum

without wanting to be overly harsh (this is a very likable interpretation!): the two chords from sec. 4.5 to 7 are unacceptably Out Offf Tune. The second one most unbearably even!

Milstein is on the technical scale in another legue altogether. The phrasings etc. fall rather in the category taste (as i said earlier). As i am accustomed to it (?!) i personally would also here prefere Milstein.

gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber äußerst interessant. ich mochte die Intensität, mit der er spielte. Auf jeden Fall eine der besseren Einspielungen, da er eine sehr eigene Interpretation besitzt. Und besser das als EINE für alle. Möchte mir diese Einspielung kaufen, gibt es eine (und ich meine nicht auf vinyl *g*) Danke.
