@Spike20TRILLION My favourite too. When I saw it, it usually meant that I was about to watch Classic Bond (Roger Moore Bond at least). Occasionally it gave me chills.
We used to have a tape of the "Yellow Submarine" picture that UA did, and it had the 2:20 "turning" logo. I think it had the lower pitch, though. Any ideas what year that was released in, or if our tape was different because it was the UK version? I don't know how we got a hold of it since we live in the U.S.
The United Artists "turning" logo always scared me...I recently saw it at 4 am on one of the Encore stations, in the dark...in other words...the worst way to see that logo. And it's really not so bad anymore.
Great video and thanks for the compilation. I'd like to say I was surprised someone compiled these but YouTube is great for stuff trivial stuff like this.
1:17 I think takes the cake. When the screen separates and there's that ominous tone leading into UA, that just has such atmosphere that both grabs and holds your attention.
I've always liked United Artists' motion graphics, and I'm glad others do as well. :)
Cheers - I didn't 'forget' the later logos - these are from my own VHS tapes (crackles included), unlike other You Tube account holders who seem to like uploading other peoples files and in doing so, clog the site up with duplicates.
The last logo I ripped was from the 'The Living Daylights' DVD, and as a result the sound isn't as good :(
The version at 2:47 was used in "Demon Seed" (1977) and the MGM/UA logo at 2:02 was used in "Carrie" (1976) and the version at 2:30 was used for "The Secret of NIMH" (1982), "The Plague Dogs" (1982), "Rock & Rule" (1983).
All varying from PAL and NTSC speeds and ratios depending on the film and years. Nice :).
I actually thought the 1st ident was the original one that accompanied 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (when was it made do you reckon?)! I got mad when it was replaced for the UE editions. It's my favourite one, classy ;).
My last account was closed - so I lost all 260 odd videos. I hadn't saved any of them (other than here) so had to re-do them. I thought I'd tidy this montage up and get rid of the UIP logos aswell as the couple of old UA Transamerica snippets I also had - certainly there are better versions of the Transamerica logo currently on You Tube, better than my captures!
Thank you, I've been trying to find 2:18 for some time now. It's the sound of my childhood.

WTF happened to the standalone videos of these and "obsessional" is not a word. I hate how people online make new nonsense words out of other words.

It reminds me of the WB logo from the '70s.

I've always ha an obsession with that first UA ident. I don't know why, i just love it. I like that last one too, never seen it before.
Most of the bond DVDs i have, have the 2nd type of UA logo, but Goldeneye is the only one to have the one i like.

I once went through a pile of old videos trying to find that one at 2:18. The best opening logo ever AFAIC, pity they changed it.

Video captures seem to be far superior in sound quality than DVD. Note the last MGM / UA (a little squashed) is from a DVD - the sound isn't as good.
