@CIVIC170 At 7:24 it is the Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World." Credited here as Jonathan Lippe (his stepfather's name) he later returned to his birthname Of Jonathan Goldsmith.
Is the sheriff, the one that shots the gun off to scare the horse, is he the same actor in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, the one that gets eaten by the dog an betrays T and L?
Wayne and Eastwood is an apples and oranges comparison imo.
John Wayne westerns were usually black and white with the Duke playing the good guy. Clint Eastwood had a more of a gray area to them. I'd argue he was usually more of an anti-hero than good guy.
Shining trivia. Because Danny Lloyd was so young and since it was his first acting job, Stanley Kubrick was highly protective of the child. During the shooting of the movie, Lloyd was under the impression that the film he was making was a drama, not a horror movie. He only realized the truth seven years later, when, aged 13, he was shown a heavily edited version of the film. He didn't see the uncut version of the film until he was 17 - eleven years after he'd made it.
all these great old cowboy movies centered around beef cattle and we now know beef isn't that beneficial or even necessary for our bodies, there's some kind of irony there
@countrytownify westerns are awesome, nothing really compares. But john wayne? Absolutely love a good western, just not with wayne in it. He just doesn't have the deadly grace that eastwood has, he moves like death.
@gregsmusic1 hey get this ...in the late 1900s there was only one tv channel in our country...the newz was the best of what could be watched....i was in my club one evening... an all of a sudden the gr8 lee van cleef appeared on the screen [from G B & U pic]...i thought i had had a few more drinks then what is usual for me....unfortunately it was to announce that he was no more...too bad...but even then i only wanna mention what a gr8 actor he was !!!
LeeVan Cleef IS SIMPLY THE BEST, OUTSTANDING AND DYNAMIC. What a majestic look he has with all them western costume? He will surely live LOOOONG in our memories......ever for sure, bhai.
Yeah I looked for Pale Rider first and saw this. Josey Wales is one of the best though. I personally like Clint's Western's better than most of John Wayne's.

This has to be one of the most exciting, enjoyable and interesting western movies I have ever seen and when I went to rent it I have to admit that I was a bit distressed finding it was not going to be THAT easy to find. Again, thank Youtube for coming through. In any case, I will be looking to buy it soon.
1:34 the horse is in the water, 2:07 you can see him start from when they call action and the horse is already out of the water in from of him. Hollywood voodoo.
Shouldn't his description of Johannsen given reason that there was probably someone else who had done the deed, and not Clint's character? Just goes to show that even in film, rednecks are "rednecks"...lol. Clint Eastwood is the STANDARD for all Hollywood leading actors to aspire too.
I believe the man at 7:23 is Johnathan Goldsmith (Lippe), better known as "The Most Interesting Man In The World." He is credited with being in this movie.
you're just digging your own grave if you try to hang or kill Clint cause he'll come after ya, and the skipper from Gilligan's Island might want to ask the professor from Gilligan's Island about what happens to people when they try to kill Clint Eastwood.
A great performance by Eastwood; also very moved by Inga Stevens's grief-stricken, vengeance-minded widow. Wish they'd had the chance to work together again, great chemistry.
3:33 The "Skipper" from Gilligan's Island. and 8:08 Bruce Dern from "Silent Running".
