All Euro-trucks are like this. The cabine doesn't end where the windspoilers end, it ends about 30cm before. The roofspoiler is round on the inside, zou when you turn, the semi seems to go into the tractor, but it's only going in between the spoilers, it can't touch the tractor, unless it's going on a very big bump in the road.

If I had to select one car to drive for the rest of my life, it would be a G Class.

@5865500 OK. the initial intention maybe to replace G. But the project ended up as something different. Otherwise the GL would be an even better off-road vehicle. Instead, it is a luxury liner SUV with above average off-road capabilities.

One thing more: G, Defender, Wrangler and Hummer all have something very important in common: All of them are results of military projects, therefore they all have excellent off-road capabilities and they are easy to maintain or repair.

In G brochure all the off-road figures are given, like the approach angle, fording depth, climbing ability etc. They are not given on the GL brochure for a reason: It is not intended AND engineered for everyday off-road use.

@GemeIIa on a GL500(US GL550) I wouldnt wont too off-road... same as would apply too a ///AMG G55 I have intrest in off-roading except getting over curbs to park the car on a side walk in Moscow, Russia. Hence the love for fast SUV's.

@beemer325 you are so dis-informed ;) people buy Toyota Land Cruiser for reliability G is cool only 2011 built not a 30 year old BUCKET! If then speak about comfort the G has so little space inside compared to an Land Cruiser 200. The G is not wide enough to handle the road as well as the LC does at high speeds. I've never driven the G55 but drove the G500, the diesel LC200 I took above 220Kmh+ it would push further but had no space

My dad had a ML(witch shares a lot of parts with the GL and it whas nothing special...)

He had a G400 cdi for replacement car for a week, and that was awesome :-)

I drove ///AMG ML63 & GL500 (with the AMG look) I prefer the GL its bigger & meaner.

Interior wise the GL500 doesnt lack what so little to the little meaner ML63 brother.

Im eager to see an AMG version which I think will sport the ///AMG GL65 engine that will murder all those "POP" SUV's out there..

@doluss I doubt it... since its based of the first ML... and the ML technology mainly SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) is old but proved quite frankly well since it now sports the GL-Class and R-Class Mercedes-Benz. The new ML that should soon be released will sport new technology then I think will pass it on to the R-Class (if enough people buy the current one) and the bigger brother GL that for surely will be released witch Im eager to see and drive!

@doluss I have never taken the GL real off road as the ones I've driven both have the "///AMG" kit one is a GL500 (5.5Liter engine) the other one is a GL450 with the whole body changed too look like GL500 without badges so neither has it been taken off-road.

If you search it on YouTube you can get some crazy cool vids GL off-roading and looks well if not outstanding

@5865500 i mean i dont like toyota design, because i always remember avensis. yeah, vw doing the same - copy paste front/rear design to all their models. but phaeton... copy/paste from a8 audi. it wasnt fail, especially for those, who don't want to spend 30% more on A8, which is same car as VW phaeton. i like Mercedes design ( except A-class) which could be more like A3 or 1-series. GL imo is too big. 7 seats.. except if you have big family. Touareg im sure is better for off road than ML GL X5.
