problem; doesn't lock in place. if you were to legitimately stab someone it would just collapse back in. Also the blade extends AND retracts on its own with out having to pull it with your other hand.

Nice.. Only one problem. If you decide to go to town one day with the hidden blade, and want to attack someone, you won't be able to stab them because the blade doesn't lock in position... What are you going to do about that? x)

what people dont get is that if you go to stab someone (witch you shouldnt) the blade will retract as it hits the person so you need a method to make its so you can lock in while its released... stabing isent good.

If it was shorter, she would have to move her hand back less, and it would risk her getting stabbed. But instead, she is pulling it far enough back so that she isn't stabbing herself.

Thanks! I used all screws to hold the parts together, so it hasn't broken apart on me. I do have to adjust the bolts and washers often though, or the locking mechanism wont work properly. I use a leather cord for the trigger, and it's pretty sturdy so far. I used string before, and it would keep breaking after 1 or 2 uses.

If you think about it, anything can be used as a weapon. I don't take it outside and swing it around recklessly. Also, the blade is wood and blunted. It can't even pierce cardboard.

sorry, I didn't mean to come off as pissed or anything. It's a valid question. I'm going to add a safety lock on my next blade, so that the blade wont shoot out if the safety is in place. If the blade was replaced w/ a kitchen knife or something, it would be pretty dangerous

two things wrong that i want to fix in my design. doesnt retract back. and the fact that sence it is a sort of cocking spring loaded thing that you have going makes it not do that much damage sense the blade, instead of penetration the blade retracts

The only way is to pull it back manually. I could probably tie a string to the back and pull it in off camera :P So far, no one has found a way to bring in a spring-loaded blade yet. There is supposedly one on youtube, but I personally think it's just movie editing.

correct me if I am wrong if you have a locking mechanism on your blade (to keep it out) then another spring to pull it back in. Wouldnt it cause an issue with the blade coming out (i ask cause Im trying to make on EXACTLY like the game and am just gather resources.)

i think the spring to pull it back in would have to be one of those springs that wind as the blade moves outward. like in a watch.

I'm going to make this, but use a stationary metal ring that sits at the base of my palm, instead of a cord around the finger. Should leave me with full maneuverability, without accidently releasing the blade.
