This song was composed and performed in 1998 and then reused in 2004.

Sure I've found similar videos from australia...but both released in the same years! The australian ones are commercials for Qantas airline (worse inflight service).... -___-

It's strange that they were released and re-editing on the same years...but hell, why should you care? This song is so iconic to singapore, I doubt the commercial served the same purpose in australia.

This song was one of the proposed songs for the Australian anthem, so I can say it serves exactly the same purpose for Australia. Plus, Qantas in Australia's airline, and a song that represents this airline, a song and an advertisement that represents Australia which extends to all countries, obviously serves great value to Australia.

@VictorYi I have listened to the song, and both songs, lyrics and melody wise, differ.

The concept of 'home' is not unique, nor is it peculiar only to the Australians, ask anyone - to say so would be to call other homely inspiration, and by extension, their feelings of love for the homeland, false and imitative of the Australians. Which I believe not to be so. :)
