I just took a few draws from mi blueberry spilf and put this track on....Man it put mi in some serious moment of Iditation! This Joint is bangin' literally and musically. MIKIGE1 continues to play the chhhhhooooooonnnnnneeeeeessssss! Peace
Big Up Mikey!! Errol and matumbi is heavenly-like... i got a 12" dubstep version of this song, im gonna upload it and you will enjoy it too i belive! JAh Bless
I think I have never heard a version of this track that did not do it justice. It seems anyone who covers this is genuinely aware of the legacy it carries, thus rendering awesome versions on every dub.
I heard this song for the first time (im in my twenties), a couple weeks back...and it blew my mind! ..I was like wow...I need to look into this tune.
What a hook!! Its like a declaration. Amazing dubness all around.
Lol.. mi know...hehehe. no mucking about, mi just a gi dem tune cos it's all about a place to escape too, i think i might have just created such a place!! stay close
Thanks for posting mikige1 ..... I may be 51 but these are the sounds I grew up loving in Peckham, South London and I still love them. Perfect after a smoke :-)
cheers mate!! having a mum for a dj meant i got to hear this tune REGULAR!!! such a good tune, especially now that i know Matumbi was doing the backing
Real Bass, Real DRUMS. Mouthorgan on the dubwise? Killer Dub!
I remember playing this after arguing with some suburban boys with their Pink Floyd, Yes etc (yawn). When I dropped this tune,u should've seen their faces, they all switch to dub. We all know da story, the CREATIVITY of dub was ignored by BBC, Radio 1 (except John Peel) in da 70's, thanks to youtube maybe some RESPECT can be paid.
My colleague is lovin this tune, he had no clue bass beats were being dropped like this 25+ years ago!
John Peel was brilliant cos i would be waiting for at least half hour wid finger on da rec/pause button, suddenly he would fling on a Burning Spear tune or a Pre-release that was kicking, best thing was the fact that i got the whole recording on tape for prosperity. i most remember the night back in 79 when he played all the tracks from the Black Uruhu showcase album (including the dubs!!)
You rmember John Peel (RIP)? WTF mikige1!! how old are you? All together now 'young people these days, they just don't know' (knowingly shake bald head with a few gray strands) Ha Ha... Come now ppl, let's take this to the next level, which was the first tune you did build and light up your first phat one too! phssssstttt
Ole Johnny Peel was really unassuming and dropped the Jamaican pre-release tunes every week, i was about 12ish and all my friends were getting into funk music, arrrrggghhh!!! (the punk stuff was shite tho) first tune to ever to give me a mad vibe was a tune called "Rat A Cut Bottle" by Lion Youth back in 81. I'm gonna go try find the blasted tune now. lol. happy xmas ya'll
This is another of my favourites......I always luv Dunkleys diction in this and how he held the long notes. I always buss this vinyl at home when the time is right lol!
