A friend of my mom died from a blade saw falling from the back of the truck due to the truck driver not tying it down right and it killed him and two of his triplets and his third one was severely injured people should really watch what they do they could save a life<3
ALL loads should be properly secured with ratchet straps and tarped when necessary. I've seen cast iron pipe rocket off the roof of a quickly-stopping van and it was scary as shit!
I have a ram like that great trucks, and as for tieing down a load of iron with a bungi cord, you cant, can you tie a blade of grass down, same principle, netting is needed.
I've worked on people who died, and nothing we could do would get them to come back. I'm talking about a person who was waiting to be discharged from the hospital, and he went into sudden cardiac arrest. We saw it happen, all these medical people were on the scene and all the medical equipment was available--but the guy never returned to life and was pronounced dead 25 minutes later.
I STILL think about that one sometimes. It was freaky.
The officer should've called for a helicopter instead of wasting time waiting for the ambulance, especially since there wasn't anything in the first aid kit that would've helped him at that point.
you gotta love how back then he didn't think twice about letting his 16 year old daughter run off in a truck with a man who just randomly ran in saying there'd been an accident...no way that's happy now
@vickiormindyb yeah, he meant code 3. I think code 1 means to come without lights and siren as soon as your available. Code 2 is come with lights and no siren and obey the traffic lights, Code 3 of course means come quickly lights and sirens. I
@arohn2007 no. he meant code 1. i have been riding on an ambulance for a few years now. Code 5 is dead, code 4 is psychiatric, code 3 is non-emergent, code 2 is lights and sirens- not in immediate danger, and code 1 is lights and sirens in immediate danger of death.
@wildstarfall People driving trucks that are that size and bigger never know when they lose something or that their load has shifted unless they're actually watching for it. If he had known, I'm sure he would've stopped. The only people who wouldn't are those who have no heart or didn't know anything had happened.
got a question why dosen't the vid play the whole thing? i let it load and its should play through know problem, but it keeps freezing about half way. any tips?
My nephews do that all the time, or used to. One time, my sister had to pull over b/c she wanted to yell at them and couldn't do so w/out stopping first.
That was the time they were having a fistfight, which they never had after their mom pulled over to yeall at them.
This show needs to come back to television. More then less, it needs newer episodes, even if them newer episodes would be very similar to these reruns of Rescue 911.
Officer Greg here-The police codes are as follows: Code 1, low-priority call. Code 2, the situation is more urgent and usually requires lights only. Code 3, use lights and siren. Get there as fast as possible. In other words, someone has been hurt already and the situation needs police control immediately.
I think the officer misspoke, I think code 1 is "not a emergency but get there as soon as you can" And I don't think it requires lights and siren. He should've said code 3, I think
yeah stuff like that ticks me off. i hit a bale of hay that dropped off a truck a few years ago, luckily it was already on the road and it only did $970 damage to my car and no injuries.
@NDW85 its in a dump truck, you wouldn't expect anything like that to happen so thats probably why he didn't bungy it. I think he may have had the truck too full though.
That human spirit thing the nurse refers to is called the Mind/Body Connection. They still don't understand why it works. They've noticed that people who have a desire to live make it through more traumas than those who give up the will.
If you cover a chest wound and the person suddenly starts to have trouble breathing, uncover one corner of the bandage. Or whatever you're using for a cover. You tape three sides and half of the fourth.
If you don't do that, the person may die in 5 minutes. That's b/c having sudden difficulty breathing after a chest wound is covered is an obvious sign of flail chest. A serious injury that will kill the patient if you don't make the necessary adjustments.
@vickiormindyb yea thats true and if they start to have trouble breathing and stuff that could also be a sign of a phneumothorax or tension phenumothorax
They're supposed to load their trucks a certain way to avoid accidents like this. If the truck bed is open and it's filled, they're supposed to cover the bed with a tarp.
@vickiormindyb You're right. that driver would have been ticketed by state police for an unsecure load. That load should have been tarped & strapped or chained.
Did he die?

That's not what a Code 1 is where *I* work. And it's called a Trauma 1, which is the most serious emergency there is.
Trauma 3 is the walking wounded, meaning come as soon as you can make it.
There's no such thing as 'come at your convenience' in Emergency Medicine, or people would probably dally.
Even the walking wounded need care in a timely manner.
I don't know anything about police codes, but I could find out if I had to.
