  • Lifestyles of the little---PERFECT!

  • Haha, little canoe at 01:34.

  • Yes - it's called 'navicula' which literally means 'little boat'

  • I may have got what it takes afterall to become a micro biologist. ;)

  • Just let you know that I have posted your video "SmallWorld" on my blog (TwistedBacteria). Great work!

  • thank you hehe yes wonderful music beethoven is genius

  • Please, the name this music! ahh! composer too..

    thanks!

  • The music is the 3rd movement of Beethoven's piano sonata no. 14, the 'Moonlight' sonata. Good, isn't it? :-)

  • Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata, last movement.

  • This is simply breathtaking! You did a wonderful job.

  • very very beautiful!

  • u know when i was young i used to drink water form a pond all the time..

  • OMG LIVING DRIPS OF WATER!! :P 5/5

  • You bastard, how dare you put such a qualitative and nicely done work here on Youtube, damn you :)

  • Well done!!

There are a lot of great shots in there. I particularly liked the way you tried to capture the rotifer extending its corona. It's hard. I also liked your choice of music and how brightfield can be used to good effect by someone who knows the subjectmatter.

  • great work

    i interested in micro algae

    wow

  • Very nice work, I liked the vorticella, but can you tell me what was in the still shot before what I think id an euplotes? almost at the very end.

    Thanks

  • Thank you - the last few organisms are, I think:

Hydra, actinophrys sol (two images), actinosphaerium sp?, coleps (the barrel-shaped thing), gastrotrich (furry-looking), and daphnia.

  • Nice work

  • Great work! I am compiling a movie much like it but can't seem to turn of the automatic camera settings that turn the color yellow. You did a fantastic job with this though!

  • Stunning! Wonderful! Beautiful! Liked how you gave different magnifications to give perspective on these life forms. ... Glad I stayed to the end: liked the rolling "credits". All together well-done!

  • Beautiful!!

  • Great work! One of my favorite videos on this site. Who's the composer/what's the name of this classical piece?

  • Thank you - it was fun putting it together. The music is the 3rd movement of Beethoven's Piano Sonata no.14, the 'Moonlight' sonata - I felt it nicely echoed the level of activity you see in microscopic pond life.

  • amazing results for that kind of equipment! Anyway you collected good probes and you know what you´re doing, because you show a wide variety of cells and beeings. Thank you!

  • Superb video Mr Grove, what equipment did you use BTW?

  • Thanks! I used a very cheap Bresser microscope from my local supermarket, and an equally cheap Biolam Lomo salvaged from eBay (and given lots of TLC!). The camera is mostly a modified Philips Vesta Pro webcam, or sometimes the cheapo camera that came with the Bresser. Photos processed in PaintshopPro, movie compiled with Windows Movie Maker.

  • this is nice
