Another wow! When I first looked at this I thought it was just a white bowl, with white eggs in it, and thought "How hard can that be?" There's an abundance of color in this painting. Bravo!
These vids are great Jos, the more we learn and the better we train our eyes, the more we see details we missed before in previous viewings, of the same video. Great exercise for attention and understanding your process :)
@crabmble650 yes it looks funny. And really that is what is taking place, ony I'm pushing the paint. Before I started to paint I put some oil on the surface, so the paint slides over it easily....
@KittyTempleton hi, well titanium white, ultramarine blue dark and transparent oxide red to make basic greys, and then maybe some cadmium yellow dark in the light parts and dioxazine purple in cooler parts. But it's difficult to tell,I dont use fixed formulas. I just look and match the color I see....
Oh man, I hate painting around cylinder-like objects (like the top of the bowl)! Fascinating you can pull it off so well -- no doubt years of hard work and experience. Thanks for sharing your process.
@Majoofi hi, I sometimes need to work in an area, with the tip of the brush pointing downward or to the right. As I'm a right handed person, it is then easier to rotate the canvas instead of the brush..
egg shells have a very interesting way of absorbing light while reflecting it, much like human skin. you did a great job of creating that effect, it looks so realistic!

right around 0:08 the timing of you adjusting the egg on the right makes it look like you simply push it over.
