That's because this was a small earthquake. The bartender didn't even stop making the drinks did he? We have mild ones all the time - woke up to a 4.7 yesterday morning at 5am and didn't even lift my head. But, in a big earthquake here you'd get knocked off your chair just like anywhere else.
