  • dieu réunit ceux qui s'aiment!

  • For years I have found this to be the most beautiful love song and Edith Piaf the best interpreter. I have heard in different languages, by different singers--no one can excel Piaf in interpretation, style, voice and sentiment.

  • @MisticMaril9806

Your opinion. No one can replace "The Little Sparrow of France".

  • The Little Sparrow of France has brought us a song we can all enjoy. "If you love me". Who on earth couldn't love this song with her marvelous voice?

  • piaf nous aussi on t'aiment ...

  • is this the first music video ever made? lol

  • My favorite Piaf ........

  • VIVE LA LANGUE FRANÇAISE!!!!

  • What can ye say?

  • I've been looking for this version of the song since it was last removed from Youtube. Thank you so much.

  • Um, who cares about her sexual orientation?

  • sometimes I think that voice is not human!!!...

  • Do you all know the story behind the song?

  • Comment removed

  • @GloriaMia That's a song dedicated to the French boxer Marcel Cerdan, her lover (he was married with children) who she said was the love of her life. The lyrics are hers but not the music. She first sang Hymne à l'amour in 1949 I think , a month before Marcel died in a plane crash when he was on his way to visit her.

  • @gmatar I believe she was bi-sexual. :)

  • can somebody have the decency to take this video and make the sound deeper or slow it down or something, it sounds too "Alvin and The Chipmunks"

  • @KennyAMV That's Edith Piaf's voice. She has a heavy vibrato.

  • @reenactorgal I mean it's too high, her voice sounds squealy compared to the original song.

  • Que c'est kitch 2:59 X)

    Magnifique chanson

  • @InspecteurClouseau kitch? normal, c'est français

  • Divine!

  • i think they show the ending of that concert that is mentioned in the info box, in the film. i think it is the scene that takes us away from her finding out about Marcel's death. I have to say it's one of my favorite scenes in La Vie En Rose. not to mention that i cry every time i see it. it's performed so beautifully.

  • I dont think this is from a concert, it is probably from a Film or television appearence.

  • @cam6617 i know... i kind of guessed that. what i meant was that you talk about how she did a concert on the eve of his death. i think they show some of that concert in La Vie En Rose. Sorry, sometimes i'm not really clear.

  • it's the final scene of "Paris chante toujours" , french movie from Pierre Montazel (1952)

  • Edith was incredible.

But also was Dalva de Oliveira.

    Please, look for her videos.

    She is awesome!

  • i saw the film la vie en rose but it seemed to miss out the late 30S and early 40S, so what did edith do in that time? could you please tell me? love her voice!!!

  • A great video of a great song.

  • Beautiful!

  • Perfect

  • Ja'i Jador'e de song!

  • simplemente maravillosa edith

  • It's just a HONOUR for her crashed friend, that's all. Beautiful, like Piaf alway's was, the content was EXPRESSION OF HER FEELINGS (Was on Radio France then, after his death, Marcel Marceaus (exact backname possible not correct).

  • it's from the film " Paris chante toujours " ( 1951 )

  • thank you for posting this wonderful video, I have no idea of the movie it's taken from.

  • PIAF, eterna, perfeita, amada e maravilhosa.

    Amo-a.

  • little sparrow ,,,,,,, sing always x

  • that does look alot like edith piaf

  • that because it is!

  • Peut m'importent les problèmes

    Mon amour puisque tu m'aimes

It's so simple and so true!

  • Wow... I've never seen a music vid from the 1940's! amazing stuff... I've only seen videos of her singing live, but not an actual music vid. Very beautiful... a shed a few tears, but anyway this song makes my eyes watery and stuff.

  • Nor have I. Which is very odd, to say the least. Are we sure that this is not from a film?

  • Well, I guess it could be from a film... but what film is it then? :)

Anyway... it looks cool as a music vid to me!

    Cheers!

  • I don't know what film it is and while I think it's Piaf's voice, I don't think it's her in the clip.

  • It is edith piaf in the video clip, it defo is

  • @laduqesa Actually, it is Edith Piaf in that video. I believe it was a television appearance.

  • Philippe..maybe it's because we feel it in adifferent way..Edith is the best!!

Thank u for sharing ur thoughts!!

  • Your quite welcome! I think we feel the same way you and I. I too get the goose bumps and cry when I hear this song. I know the tragic story that generated it too. May I ask where you are from and what language is most comfortable for you?

  • I'm Italian..100%Italian...English is perfect...At least to me is way better than Italian !LoL!!Where are u from?

  • I'm French... dual French-US citizenship. We'll stick to English then. I'm looking forward to our next conversations... Be it about Edith Piaf, this song, or other matters of your your choice...

  • take it your a fan then. I have een a fan of edith piaf for four years now and i have more than 40 of her records!

  • Yes, I am quite a fan. There was such power of expression in this little woman. Your collection must be pure gold! Congratulations to you dear Cam6617...

  • There is an English version of this song and I think it's by her too. my mom was singing it just a while ago.

  • I correct myself.. The English version "If you love me" was actually covered by many artists after she died. What a legend.

  • there were actually two english versions of this song.

  • No, you are correct. She recorded an English version called, "Hymn to Love"

  • Edith Piaf - my love. Thank you for pleasure from video.

  • This has been one of my all-time favorite songs since I was in college (as a French major, no less)

  • I do not speak French but I wish I did so I could no the words to this beautiful song. Edith Piaf was wonderful. Thanks for the post.

  • yes i know but she sang this song after marcel cerdan died.

  • wow. i wonder if they filmed that. i would like to see her expression and admire her ardent strength.

  • what do u mean i wonder if they filmed it of course they did you have watched it.

  • not that. i meant did they film the actual performance right after Marcel died. Not this one.

  • Yeah, they filmed it. And the most amazing of the original video may be the fact she doesn't seem to push really hard to have this powerful voice.

Une grande dame de la musique.

  • it's from November 1951!
